shiv Posted 5 January 2009 Author Posted 5 January 2009 Now been moved to Wednesday 11th March... because of the Champions League match? Is that cos it's on TV or something?
Guest Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 http://www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~1509418,00.html Fcuks sake! Just after I'd sorted my work rota out so I can make every game for the rest of the season too. I'll not be happy if I can't make this now
StanSP Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 Probably because of traffic and police numbers - Tranmere and Liverpool both in same region and so probably have the same police section.
shiv Posted 5 January 2009 Author Posted 5 January 2009 Probably because of traffic and police numbers - Tranmere and Liverpool both in same region and so probably have the same police section. good thinking... i'd never have thought of that haha
maddog Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 Good move. We don't want Tranmere fans and Liverpool fans fighting after they have both lost. The pubs will be full of Liverpool fans watching that match.
Floating Fox Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 Not looking forward to leaving my car in Liverpool
davieG Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 Probably because of traffic and police numbers - Tranmere and Liverpool both in same region and so probably have the same police section. So in the whole history of football Liverpool and Tranmere have never played at the same time at home? What a weak fcuked up society we've become!
maddog Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 So in the whole history of football Liverpool and Tranmere have never played at the same time at home? What a weak fcuked up society we've become! See my previous post. tut tut.
Uncle Albert Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 I quite fancy Tranmere away! They probably know if we played on the Tuesday are bigboy's would try and mix it up with the Madrid boys. <_<
StanSP Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 So in the whole history of football Liverpool and Tranmere have never played at the same time at home? What a weak fcuked up society we've become! It was just a suggestion!! The only one i could think of! You'll find that Man Utd and Man City have probably very rarely played at home on the same day.
Koke Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 We would take the Madrid fans to the cleaners. I shall not be leaving my car in Liverpool for that game.
Fosse Boy Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 Perhaps they're just scared that some Real fans might end up on the wrong side of the Mersey and find themselves watching a better team instead?
CosbehFox Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 They do it for most of their scheduled Saturday matches too. Like Hartlepool. Tranmere = horrid place, horrid police.
davieG Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 With Tranmere's average gate being 5204 and their highest being 8700 and with this being on a Tuesday night and a local derby to boot I can see why it was imperative that it was moved.
Simi Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 They can't handle three big clubs around on the same day, would be chaos around the City, understandable decision.
davieG Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 They can't handle three big clubs around on the same day, would be chaos around the City, understandable decision. Which 3 clubs? And Tranmere's on the other side of the Mersey so there's no need for LCFC fans to even be in Liverpool
Simi Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 Which 3 clubs? And Tranmere's on the other side of the Mersey so there's no need for LCFC fans to even be in Liverpool Madrid, Liverpool and Leicester obviously. Well I know that, but Tranmere don't exactly have the best repuation when it comes to their fans. I am sure the Police have decided they need to patrol Liverpool's side of the mersey throughout the day because of the large numbers of Spanish over. I'm sure they could cope with both, however I would think Leicester would be a higher priority than most for a normal league game.

Simi Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 So how many LCFC fans do you think will be going that the police are incapable of coping with? Not sure what the allocation is down there, but I'd expect around 1,100 will travel, hopefully our promotion push will be in full swing by then. I'm not sure on the number of Police that will ne needed throughout Liverpool but if they think that the games would be best spread across two days, then sobeit. Plus, in the home game at The Walkers earlier in the season, some of the Tranmere fans did attempt to charge the Leicester fans, perhaps they see potential trouble at the game? I dislike decisions like this from the Police because they control too much of football and it's match timing, but I'm just suggesting possible reasons for the change.

Thanks for your thoughts and i can see what you're doing, I just find it incredible that they can't cope. What happens on occasions like the Grand National weekend do neither Liverpool or Everton ever play at home on these days. I guess it's another example of how hooligans, that seem to be admired by some have affected the game.

I would think a run of the mill football match would sadly attract more Police than the Grand National. The amount of money they can get away with charging clubs for the 'services' of Police is really incredible.
Tevez Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 They can't handle three big clubs around on the same day, would be chaos around the City, understandable decision. Tranmere Leicester Real Madrid I assume?
davieG Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 That was the correct spelling. To be fair to Mr Pedantic I corrected it.
