JakeShingler Posted 4 February 2009 Posted 4 February 2009 Just like saying you would miss a 1 on 1 perposely no chance i would just not celebrate like Curtis Davies dodn't against WBA.
Ashley Posted 4 February 2009 Posted 4 February 2009 Ok, I have no loyalty. He's just made himself a hero by saving a penalty in a tense game, the biggest game of the season. Whether he was a Derby fan as a boy or not, doesn't make any difference. I'm sure you'd celebrate if you scored against Leicester for a team. I actually wouldnt to be honest, especially if I had played for Leicester.
Tommeh Posted 4 February 2009 Author Posted 4 February 2009 Was hoping for a good response to this thread before going out for my run and got just that I think for me its just the sheer money involved these days and the fact its been going this way for many years, and the ridiculous proposed Kaka transfer was just about it. This opinion I have on football in general is nothing to do with city though hence the forum, I still get the buzz about all the away days and love visiting the new grounds, banter with the lads etc. And I'm pretty sure I'll never loose that. For me football is about enjoyment and I really couldn't care if I get that in the premiership, league 1 or the non league.

lildave3 Posted 4 February 2009 Posted 4 February 2009 I actually wouldnt to be honest, especially if I had played for Leicester. Not even a last minute winner in a local derby? Or to win the cup? You say people show no loyalty, but if you don't celebrate a goal then perhaps you're not showing enough loyalty to your current team?
Samilktray Posted 4 February 2009 Posted 4 February 2009 For the fans football is a lifestyle. For the players its there job, so expecting them to effectively throw a match if there against there boyhood club is complete bullshit. Never heard ote like it.
Maybes Posted 4 February 2009 Posted 4 February 2009 For the fans football is a lifestyle. For the players its there job, so expecting them to effectively throw a match if there against there boyhood club is complete bullshit. Never heard ote like it. I perhaps wouldnt have done a jig of delight, although I would be mightly pleased with myself.

You say people show no loyalty, but if you don't celebrate a goal then perhaps you're not showing enough loyalty to your current team? Just another thing to add Lee Camp was on loan from QPR, whats it matter to him it's not his proper club? It's hardly showing enough loyalty to your current team is it? I'm sure you as a player would celebrate every other week when and if you scored? i'm sure the fans of your current club would understand It's your childhood club you've scored agaisnt and you dont want to celebrate agaisnt them. Edit:
Samilktray Posted 4 February 2009 Posted 4 February 2009 That was almost sensible for you Dont wanna make a habit of it, dont worry.
fox123 Posted 4 February 2009 Posted 4 February 2009 I was a football whore til I discovered girls, then I just became a total whore.

Tommeh Posted 4 February 2009 Author Posted 4 February 2009 What would you do in the Lee Camp situation Tommeh? I'd just hope never to be in that situation tbh. When you do your job you want to be as good as you can be at your profession, this obviously applied to Camp. I think Milktray nailed if I'm honest but I can also see where your coming from.

Koke Posted 4 February 2009 Posted 4 February 2009 Not only would I save a penalty against Leicester, but if I was on 5k a week at Leicester and Coventry offered me 15k a week, I would pack my bags and leave. It doesn't make me less of a Leicester fan, it just makes me a greedy bastard who has to take care of himself first and foremost.
Corky Posted 4 February 2009 Posted 4 February 2009 I don't know if I'd celebrate if I scored against Leicester, I wouldn't feel great but you can't miss on purpose. It's your job, you are paid to give your best to a certain club. It may hurt afterwards but you've got to put that chance away.
Simi Posted 4 February 2009 Posted 4 February 2009 First of all what is Milktray actually doing not saying the complete opposite to what the thread is saying. Don't worry Tommeh, I am here now to reply. I have become so cynical with football, I realise I piss a lot of people off with some of my comments, but it's just the way that I see it these days. I was bought up being taught proper football by whoever I spoke to about it. Now, every time I'm at the computer I just find myself reading stories that quite frankly make me want to pack it all in and do something where I feel valued. Being a member on Standupsitdown you come across all sorts of stories, mainly horror stories from most of the Premiership clubs. I reckon if a few more on here seen those stories they would understand why I am a little wary of the Premiership. That's not to say I don't want Leicester to succeed (Ultra). When you read comments from people like Richard Scudamor£ you have to wonder where the game is heading in the long. I understand the game is now global, but to take competitive games away from the long serving fans who spend thousands without fail EVERY year is just plain wrong. The game will soon be whored all around the world because the market in England is now becoming drained. Football matches for me today are not really about the match itself. I go for the craic with the great people that I've met from this forum. If the game is good, it's a bonus. Hopefully in the not to distant future, the big boys will implode or **** off like we all know they want to. Maybe then the game can get back in touch with the fans when the money men aren't as interested. Cheap tickets, standing areas, clubs wanting to market to all types of fan etc. I still love football, but it winds me up how something that everybody cares for is manipulated by a minority.
Tevez Posted 4 February 2009 Posted 4 February 2009 The buzz going down the City has gone for me. But waking up on a Saturday and Sunday in your own Premiership, Championship, League One at 10.30 am is different gravy. Grass Roots Football is a dream for me.
purpleronnie Posted 4 February 2009 Posted 4 February 2009 Anyone else not too fussed with it, this season in particular? Not lost any love for city still enjoying going to all the games more than ever but unless I'm there live or playing myself in Sunday league I really am not fussed by the game.Tv football just bores me, all this transfer bollocks the premier league etc. It really doesn't bother me anymore which I'm actually quite sad about. Not trying to start a debate here because I respect that 95% will think I'm talking bollocks, but just wondering if I was the only one....... I agree I dont really watch much football anymore just the odd big game the rest I find dull, I prefer watching non league footy TBH. I actually do look forward to watching football in America because its like going back in time to when I started to watch leicester in the mid 80's, I think a lot of the fun has been stripped away from english football.
Sods Posted 4 February 2009 Posted 4 February 2009 I really couldn't give two shites who won the premiership, it will be one of the BIG four. Who gave them that name, the freeking media. The media have ruined the top flight and most of football for me, I don't know the right facts but I think Man Yanited have played something like once on a Saturday 3 o clock in 3 years. Thats ridiculous, if you work on a sunday your fooked. Not only that your paying £40 a ticket at least. Yep great value that is. Not only that its on at ridiculous times, 12:15. 5:20. Sunday 1:00. I wouldn't be able to keep up. Im a teenage lad and I like to go out at the weekend with my pals after footy on a Saturday and reflect on our games. I dont want to be getting up at a ridiculous time on a Sunday. I can see the viewof why people then will watch it on Sky instead of live, ive got a mate who said hes never seen a live game and dosen't see the point as his team are alway on Tele. Then you get your type of fan who does this and can't name five championship teams. The media will big games up for weeks, this ones the big one. Big super sunday. I don't mind a bit of banter from the managers, I loved Keegans rant. I loved Jose. But when you have the media stirring things up it gets boring. All this Drogba swap for Robinho. I don't give a shit. You watch sky sports news one day and their telling us about Rafa dropping a superstar. Then on the same day for instance a club goes into administration. Wankers. Im really enjoying Leicester at the moment, loving the fact im going to away games and seeing us dominate. Seeing the fans in a more positive attitude is great, but one day when we return the top division I dont know how I will cope. I don't have a clue what I will do.
Uncle Albert Posted 5 February 2009 Posted 5 February 2009 On the whole Lee Camp and celebrating if you scored against your former team in a Derby look at Kris Commons last night. I think it makes you want to celebrate even more to be honest. If I played for Forest or Derby against Leicester I would celebrate and if I didnt I would call myself a ****.
Corky Posted 5 February 2009 Posted 5 February 2009 I agree with Sods. Ironically, the Premiership is probably the best it's been for years- a decent title race, Villa and Everton doing very well and the rest of the league not certain to stay up. But there's such a predictability about it all, the big matches are hyped up and then poor. Thank God we are doing well this season.

I don't have a clue what I will do. :appl: The only football I watch on TV nowadays is the FA Cup, and even ITV have managed to ruin that. The Premier League/Champions League offer me nothing and I can see them for the corporate gimmicks that they are. Don't get me wrong, I want Leicester to do well but if we made it back to the top flight any time soon I'd probably just get really fcuked off and bored with it and start watching non-league football more. I don't want my club to be Scudamore's bitch and have it do his bidding all in the name of commerce. Football will either go one or two ways now. Either the bubble will burst and we go back to having a genuinely competitive league system which real fans can enjoy again, or it will end up like American sports leagues with total disregard given to football's roots, and MK Dons will become heroes.
Ashley Posted 5 February 2009 Posted 5 February 2009 Good topic started by Tommeh, some interesting views and I can see where people are comming from.
