StanSP Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 http://news.uk.msn.com/uk/article.aspx?cp-...mentid=13975252 How rubbish is this. Could they have not picked something better? Anyone travelling past that is going to think this country is a laughing stock! Since when does a horse represent the South of England? I don't know if anyone thought of this before the Angel of the North was put up. Maybe this horse will become iconic as the AotN, but I can't see it happening. To be honest, the other two projects that could have been decided don't sound that exciting either: A steel latticework "nest" by Richard Deacon and a tower of stacked cubes by Daniel Buren. Fair enough if you think it's artistic and happen to like it. But I'm not liking it one bit.

I actually quite like it and it has become very popular. I don't think the white horse looks bad at all.

StanSP Posted 10 February 2009 Author Posted 10 February 2009 And I've just realised, it's not an angel at all!!!. The Angel of the North at least looks like an angel i.e. wings and that. But how can it be called Angel of the South when it isn't even an Angel?!?!
Guest Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 If you're gonna build a horse, build it ****ing big, that's what I say

Monk Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 I think a giant BMW X5 would be more appropriate. Feckin southerners. They can call it the greed of the south.
Fosse Boy Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 Perhaps it's something to do with the fact that the white horse is a symbol of Kent? I'm not sure, but it could be that?
Legend_in_blue Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 A horse isn't tall enough. You wouldn't see it. Plus if it's white, it'll end up black from all the exhaust fumes of those 4x4s they drive down there. Why not go for something taller and a better colour...
Corky Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 Perhaps it's something to do with the fact that the white horse is a symbol of Kent? I'm not sure, but it could be that? I'm still waiting for our giant tractor to be built
stez Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 I'm still waiting for our giant tractor to be built the ones they use round there are big enough works of art already!
StanSP Posted 10 February 2009 Author Posted 10 February 2009 Perhaps it's something to do with the fact that the white horse is a symbol of Kent? I'm not sure, but it could be that? Surely it should be Angel of Kent, rather than represent the whole of the South??
stez Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 Surely it should be Angel of Kent, rather than represent the whole of the South?? but the north (of england) isn't just newcastle.
Legend_in_blue Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 We could use this opportunity to spread the word...!
Fosse Boy Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 I'm still waiting for our giant tractor to be built I'm waiting for the whole of Essex to be spray painted orange.
Lillehamring Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 wasn't there supposed to be something in leics, over the M1?
Alexikokopops Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 Surely it should be Angel of Kent, rather than represent the whole of the South?? IT'S NOT ACTUALLY CALLED THE ANGEL OF THE SOUTH!
fox123 Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 Is the fact that, that it is a 'Horse' is because there is a lot of livery and stud farms round the area? Just a generalised guess really.
