Zingari Posted 24 February 2009 Posted 24 February 2009 Cheers I agree with alot of what people say about religion. Inquisition, terrorists etc. But these things have nothing to do with believing in a force that is powering the universe. All these bad things that go on are just caused by leaders who are hungry for more power. They just pretend to be 'religious' and thus give religion a bad name. Believe in whatever you want to believe , i can't stress strongly enough that freedom of belief is no problem , It's the other bit of your statement about power mad religious leaders. They never seem to go away. With power mad politicians , or scientists etc , arguments can be used against them and eventually can be proved wrong , but this hotline to god and reliance on spurious ancient texts is virtually unbeatable , however ridiculous the logic . you seem to be gaining quite a fan club on here though , and definitely livened the place up a bit

Is it the kind that want to follow me and lynch after a Leicester match?!
Jordan Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 I'll try not to post on FoxesTalk after getting home drunk at 5 a.m. anymore, but I'll just link this exchange between Conservapedia editors and Richard Lenski, a renowned biologist at Michigan State University. If you have a few minutes, get the kettle on or make a cup of coffee, sit back, relax, and enjoy getting hit with some serious knowledge and lolz.
BoneDog Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 The thing is, e.coli didn't evolve, it was changed in a lab and released again. Just like alot of other viruses. Man-made mutations. Of course, I know, El Empty's talking crap again!
Houdini Logic Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 Believe in whatever you want to believe Hear! Hear! Everyone has the right to believe in make-believe.

Of course, I know, El Empty's talking crap again! E. coli isn't a virus, it's a bacterium, a living organism. E. coli is manipulated in labs for biotechnology purposes, but it's also a valuable organism for studying long-term evolution. Lenski and his team didn't manipulate E. coli's genetic code; rather, they created random environments and observed the evolutionary process in action. Twenty years won't show any proof of human evolution into a new organism, but Lenski was able to track the progress of E. coli mutating and the thriving of new descendant organisms over a 31,500-generation span.

Daggers Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 El Empty's talking crap again! Saved me the effort.
BoneDog Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 If the Earth is only 6000 years old...Explain this: Only about 2% of the worlds population believe that the world is only 6000 years old. Certain religious Jews, I think they are the only ones. I personally believe it is at least 200,000 years old. Anyone who says it is billions years old is going on pure conjecture. There are no 100% accurate dating methods to prove anything. There are plenty of scientific papers that state all the problems with every kind of dating test they use, including the carbon method.
