The Doctor Posted 22 May 2010 Posted 22 May 2010 what an uninspiring first half. Either bayern need to stop passing it along the halfway line and consider the fact that they're behind - they need to actually take a shot or two or Inter need to close them down sooner.
purpleronnie Posted 22 May 2010 Posted 22 May 2010 Mourinho does it again, inter milan treble, best club manager in the world. Lucky Real madrid fans!!!
FoxyPV Posted 22 May 2010 Posted 22 May 2010 Inter thoroughly deserved it. Mourinho is just too good - doubt he'll last one third of my bet up!!
Guest DavidJCW Posted 22 May 2010 Posted 22 May 2010 Well I have to admit that despite loving watching football, after the first half I switched off as it was possibly the most boring half of diving and slow paced football I've ever seen. Well done to Inter for winning it, but if that is the showcase piece for the best footballing teams in Europe then God help us all.
MC Prussian Posted 22 May 2010 Posted 22 May 2010 Well, that was a dull of a final. But with Inter on the pitch, what did I realistically expect, anyway? Bayern never looked like real trouble, despite having close to 70 percent of possession and just depending on Robben alone was no recipe against a steady Inter defense. The better more efficient team has won.

It's ridiculous that Van Gaal didn't try and change things as it was clear after ten minutes that they were never going to break through that defense.

I only watched 45 minutes as I had to leave at half time, so I guess I didn't miss much.
Anish Posted 22 May 2010 Posted 22 May 2010 Mourinho's brand of 'defend tight, hit them on the break' football worked again, although it was not attractive for the neutral. Bayern needed to score early in the second half but Muller blew their best chance. Milito was awesome for Inter, he's the battering ram that defenders hate playing against and his finishing was exquisite. It's going to be an interesting La Liga next season.

Apart from the brilliant counter-attacks I completely agree with you. Everyone's been saying that Bayern are too 'mechanic' and depend utterly on Robben to do the unexpected, and so it proved.

Mourinho had the measure of Bayern and won the tactical contest. Van Gaal looked lost.
