Matt Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 I guess you haven't seen him play all season. He really is a massive liability. Dickov is the one (and only) signing Pearson got terribly wrong. It wreaks of a Milan signing IMO. Also this is a great song by the way; I didn't like this signing in the summer, I said he'd be shit, not everyone but many disagreed with me, I still don't like the signing now. And is it true the rumour I have heard about him being our highest paid player in the squad? And yes if the only other option is Hayles (Which it isn't - Chambers for example, or even recall DJ - That's desperate) i'd rather have Hayles playing. We have seen Dickov come on as a sub (Barr yesterday) and we have seen Hayles come on as a sub - Who offers more? Hayles IMO. Whatever the qualities you believe him to posses he has shown nothing this season to believe anything positive about his performances, other tha yesterdays goal. The improvement in the team after he came on was obvious. Be fair to the man, he hasn't had any reserve team football to get match fit anymore than anyone else. If you don't like Dickov fair enough, but don't criticize for yesterday.

Well everyone criticized Hayles for yesterday but whenever Hayles has come on as a sub in the past he has done much more than Dickov when he had come on a sub, as in changing the style of play and game. Jezus one goal - Fair enough it secured a draw, but one goal and it exempts him from criticism.

What did he do yesterday to deserve criticism, apart from come on for Gradel? We created more chances after he came on than we did in the rest of the match.

Not much, but i'm looking at it as his whole contribution this season, Apart from yesterday he has been shite and if he can't get near the ball or player with the ball now his legs have gone he'll just hack the opposing player down, he's a liability. As I said people were slagging Hayles of yesterday, Yesterday he didn't have his best of games but he has offered much more than Dickov this season as a sub, yet he still gets criticized and joked about. I'm glad Dickov scored yesterday, despite hating him and still insisting he is the poorest signing this season, he got us a point, but some people are just being stupid going crazy and OTT about him, Dickov is not the answer - Hayles isn't either, but Hayles is a better choice.

You just end up making a fool of yourself. if he can do that in a game - i am happy to use him as a sub.

I can't see him leaving because he's still got a year left on a probably fairly lucrative contract, but I hope he goes.

Err, the ball bobbled past about four defenders and their keeper before ending up in the net. It obviously wasn't 'goal of the month' (or even 'goal of the game') but to describe it as an 'open goal' beggars belief. Dickov's been poor when he's come on in previous games this season, but yesterday he looked up for it from the start warming up and when he came on we certainly created more. This doesn't prove his doubters wrong, and he might be a past it player who had a lucky day yesterday, but it might also be that the stories about him not being fit previously were true, and we'll see a better Dickov, more like his old self, over the next few games. Can we perhaps agree not to knife him until he's proven it one way or the other?

Unless the team plays to his strengths, he's always gonna look useless!!
