Sunday People Transfer Rumour

Wouldn't be over the moon, but i'd rather see him in a City shirt than Dickov and a few of the others strikers at this club, but mostly Dickov.

The same was said back when we signed Collymore too and a couple of goals later his fist swinging at Ulrika Jonnson's head was forgotten.

Yep.

He isn't shit at all. Anyone saying that is delusional.

He's a Class A Cunt though.

Yep.

I guess i'm the only one who wouldn't be too fussed.

Nope.

The only thing I'd say is that I'd rather see us sign two or three strikers with a varied skill portfolio rather than our one-dimensional lot we have at present...but anyone who will consistently put the ball in the net next season has my vote.

That comment about Jobber not wanting him here is a bit odd considering he spends his time helping problem kids build new futures - surely doing your time for a crime allows you a fresh start?

I'm with Daggers.

"Murdering scumbag" is a little over the top, to be honest. Don't get me wrong I'm not exactly bouncing off the walls at the prospect of him coming here but nor will I boycott or turn up to boo.

:dunno:

I don't understand some people labelling him shit, 18 goals this season and was once worth £5million...

Dont get me wrong if i had the choice to have him here i would absolutly say no.

I know it's been said we've lacked a "killer instinct" at times this season, but this is ridiculous!

He's not a Championship class striker any more and recent events at Oldham suggests he may be a disruptive influence.

I wouldn't want him anywhere near our club.

Not very fascinating fact about Lee Hughes - he has the same birthday as me. But I wouldn't want him near a City shirt. It's not the getting released early, or even the causing death by dangerous driving - he did the time for that, and it's not his fault that the legal system thinks killing someone with a car is less serious than killing them in any other way. But he caused a fatal crash and then ran away rather than staying to help or even just to face up to what he'd done, and that's not the kind of person I want in the city team.

And how many of the current and recent squads are angels? :dunno:

I think there's more than two types of people in the world; not just angels and those who would run away from a crash in which they'd caused the death of another human being. I'd like to think I'm somewhere in the middle of those two extremes.

It seems to me that it's not unreasonable to expect others, especially those who might be being heralded as 'heroes' or role models to my kids and other Leicester kids, to also manage to lift themselves above the level Lee Hughes demonstrated.

I wouldn't want him here but think people are going a bit overboard.

For me, accidentally killing someone in a car crash makes you no more of a cvnt than intentionally beating your girlfriend. I wonder if any of the people saying they'd stop going to games walked out of Filbert Street when "we've got Stan Collymore" was ringing around the place?!

Is he still a Muslim btw? Remember reading that he'd converted to Islam in prison.

A fat, ginger Muslim hit-and-run ex-convict who used to play for Coventry? This one is going to be popular right across the fanbase, I can tell.

I don't really want him to come, but others will undoubtedly come and boo, which doesn't do to much good to the team and the performances.

Plus i really hate it when others are booing the team

He did nowhere near enough time for his crime and i can honestly say i wouldnt celebrate a Lee Hughes goal for Leicester

So he should have requested a longer sentence?

Glad I am not the only one to think that.

Lee Hughes caused death by dangerous driving, and fled from the scene of an accident, that can never be condoned.

However, if we were to lambast and never let criminals back into society, then we would have an awful lot of crims on the dole.

He did the crime and has done his time. As Daggers said, he wouldnt request a longer sentence, he got out on good behaviour, and has since gone on to do charity work. This doesnt make up for what he has done, not saying it has.

However, he deserves his second chance does he not? Or are we to wipe every criminal off the face of the earth? if we didnt allow Lee Hughes back into employment, then he would be on the dole, and collecting taxpayers money. Instead he is earning £x a year, and contributing to society, and keeping a roof over his head for his family and kids (cue the 'what about the family of the people he killed' debate)

He took his chance with oldham and has made it a relative success, has taken the torrent of abuse every week (though not much at our place, i must say) and got on with it.

I would like to see him here, for footballing reasons. I think he still has 1-2 seasons left, and I shat myself every time he got near the ball at our place in Jan. Obviously the fee has to be right, but there we go.

I won't slate people who say they 'wont support LCFC while Hughes is here' thats fine, and that is your choice, but I will support him. I would support his efforts on the pitch, not his past, and would cheer his every goal.

If he ****s up, then we would need to come down hard on him like a ton of bricks, and I would expect nothing less.

This rumour probably wont come to fruition, but if it does. Hughes could be a great signing for this club, with his height, and his presence up front, maybe not a first choice striker, but definitely an impact player.

Lets see how Hughes gets on along side DJ Campbell at Blackpool for the last few remaining games.

I'd never condone what he did but according to law he's payed for his crime.

Had he served the time I might have some sympathy but he didn't. In our "tough on crime" society he served half the time. Three years.

The sentence wasn't nearly enough in the first place either for the crime and the consequences but it was not just the crime it was the failing to stop, leaving the scene and failing to report the accident, factors which could have been vital for the welfare of the victims for all he knew.

Not only did Hughes kill and cripple people, he showed scant regard for haing done so and was far more concerned about the consequences to himself. He's the pits.
