Depression apparently. Problems with alcohol and excessive partying and women.

The bloke is on £100,000 a week - He grew up in poverty and gang violence. If the love of his life (football) and 100k a week isn't enough to motivate him to stay away from excessive parties and alcohol, then I don't know what is. I would expect someone with a horrid childhood to cherish and appreciate his money & luxury lifestyle, and not just throw his career down the toilet.

Good luck to him with his rehab/therapy.

That don't sound too depressing. :P

Excessive partying and being promiscious are sometimes signs of a very unhappy person I think.

Im sure he does appreciate it all but I suppose depression can be triggered by things in the very distant past so now matter how good his life is now hes obviously been deeply affected by something in his early years....... not that Im an expert or anything.

Fame and money often dont seem to make people happy, Id love to have a bit more money but would much rather have a loving family and good circle of genuine friends.

I Hope he finds some peace of mind.

I agree. There's probably more to it than we know about. I read somewhere that his father passed away in 2004 and ever since he hasn't had the best of times. He had a close strong relationship with his father, and his death has obviously affected him a lot. I'm not an expert on depression so I don't know to what extend it can affect people.

He's 27 years old, he still got a lot to offer in football, so I hope he sorts himself out and comes back a lot stronger.

Adriano's by no means the first footballer to have these issues, and I doubt he'll be the last.

As we've seen with many British-based players of the past, including George Best and Stan Collymore, mental illness can strike anyone regardless of background, income or lifestyle.

I hope he'll be able to make a recovery in due course.

Now Inter have cancelled his contract.

That's all he needs. Poor sod.

When he comes back from his personal matters, I'm sure Man City will try and sign him.

Feel sorry for him in a way.

If they are family problems then there's nothing he could have done. However, if they were things he could have controlled i.e. the partying and alcohol etc... then he should learn his lesson if/when he decided to come back into football.

We'll take him as back-up to Howard for next season

He is an absolute tank on any Fifa or PES game.

But I've always had a likeing for him, I guess its because of his size and being black.

Hope he comes back soon, and agree with Albert on the Man City thing, would love him in the Prem.

Overrated, fat, lazy and generally a donkey at football.

Good luck to him in recovering though.

Methinks someone's only seen the troubled Inter Adriano play football.

Watch him at Flamengo, Parma, Sao Paulo, or his early days at Inter, and say he's a donkey.

Didn't he used to play up front with Mutu ? He's nothing speical, he was hardly Ronaldo.

He's not saying he was Ronaldo.

He's saying he's not a donkey.

Unplayable  What does that mean ? He wasn't unplayable was he ? He's not a donkey but he's not Ronaldo and by Ronaldo i mean the fat one who played for Brazil.

So if/when he returns will he be a free agent?

Yeah but Inter have a clause or something saying they need to clear it before he signs with someone apparantly.

Something like that.

When he was at the top of his game? Err, yeah he was. Probably one of the best centre forwards in the world on his day. It was just his attitude and inconsistency that let him down.

I do agree though, Ronaldo is/was in a different league.

Signed for Flamengo.

Shame he's not gone to Corinthians and teamed up with Ronaldo :giggle:

Imagine having that strikeforce in that league.
