Mandaric compares Pearson to Sir Alex...

Leicester owner Milan Mandaric has likened his boss Nigel Pearson to Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson after the Foxes were promoted to the Championship. "Sir Alex started in the lower level and moved all the way up - so I can't see a reason why Nigel can't go all the way," stated Mandaric. (Daily Mail)

Footballs changed, the huge clubs don't seem to go for managers who have worked their way up anymore.

Hopefully, a good thing for us then?

Whilst the praise is nice, Milan and some fans needs to calm down, and be a little more realistic - No doubt people and Milan will be getting twitchy when/if we lose 2 games on a bounce next season. He's compared him to Harry Redknapp and now Alex Ferguson, some fans have compared him to Martin O'Neill.

Just calm down a little, I hope all the comparisons are right, but just for the moment keep your feet on the ground.

Even Mad Mandy could only have meant this tongue in cheek.. Football is dominated by money now, and Milan doesn't have the sort of finances required for Pearson to even begin emulating what Ferguson has achieved.

That said, WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS. WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!

If I was Nige I'd be a bit offended - I mean, to be likened to that red faced ****!

Not like Mandaric to add unnecessary pressures onto his managers.

If I was NP I'd ask Milan for a pay rise to a level reflecting my status as the potential heir to the most successful manager in the Premiership

Im just concerned that were gonna be fighting off the Likes of Newcastle for him in the Summer (if they go down anyway)

MM should be playing down how good he is really :giggle:

Aberdeen I suppose were a wealthy club when he was in Charge? Where did Milan say "with Leicester?" He is merely ensuring that Nigel realises you need to make a name for yourself, not do an Ince and jump up too far too soon.

...which reminds us, where might we have been if Ince had said yes to us and not to Blackburn...

I think he'l get tapped up by middlesbourgh in the summer!

If Boro get relegated, why would he even consider going there?

Greater budget, better squad, patient and supporting chairman..?

Countered by their best players leaving, them being a smaller club, along with it being a horrible area.

They'll be in a right mess after over spending for several years.

They would probably still have a better squad than ours and with the parachute payments and transfer income from the sales of Downing, Digard, Tuncay etc. they'll surely out-compete us. And the chairman is less volatile! Besides, we've been over-spending for several years as well, and the relegation didn't do us any good financially, so we're not exactly in a healthy situation ourselves...

:crylaugh:

When is Milan going to learn to shut up.

He's done brilliant this season not saying much to the media, now we are up he's talking again!

Feel free to edit my post to 'when are you going to shut up' etc :giggle:

The only thing going for them is that they have a very good youth set up, but ultimately, while we may have overspent in recent years, I am sure we will not have the same financial worries.

It's all relative really: they will have massive debts and their transfer income will probably be largely focused on that. I'm not saying we'll have more than them to spend, but we'll have the momentum behind us; plus we will not have a huge turnover of players. You only have to look at the likes of Derby to see what that does to you.

Stranger things have happened in football, and if he were to leave for Boro, we'd at least partly understand such a decision. Of course, I agree with you that the pros of such a move aren't necessarily outweighing the cons (maybe that's down to bias), but I would get a bit nervous if they made an approach.

I also forgot to mention that of course working for Gibson would ensure greater job security, but even that would be tested should he not win promotion at the first time of asking.

It is all a bit hypothetical as Boro haven't been relegated - yet.

I think Mandaric is saying he believes Pearson can go a long way in management- not be as successful as Ferguson, but carve out a great career as a manager.

I do think Mandaric should keep quiet a bit more, it's fine to have ambition but don't heap unnecessary pressure on Pearson.

Pearson wouldn't go to Middlesbrough... most of their top players will leave if they go down so they'll be in a right mess... as for Newcastle, well they'd hold on to several of their good players at least because they can't sell all of their team but the vast majority will want out asap so once again, they'll be in a right mess too.

Financially, relegation will cost both clubs massively and with Middlesbrough already in so much debt, they'd have nothing to spend at all. Newcastle could still have cash to spend I would imagine and with the sales of their top players would be OK in the Championship but would Shearer leave them at the end of the season after having this taste of management? Would the fans forgive Ashley for letting another of their heroes leave?

All in all, I think that because Pearson is established here now and has done such a good job of getting a team together, he'd not really want to leave and take all the risks of managing a supposedly bigger club that are only in the same division as us when we have so much potential to do really well... I hope anyway.
