Benji Posted 27 June 2009 Posted 27 June 2009 possibly the most frustrating half of rugby ive watched in a long long time English/Lions don't seem to have had much luck against SA in recent years
Bert Posted 27 June 2009 Posted 27 June 2009 After such a great start it was inevitable that this would happen. At least now in the 3rd test some of the other players can get a game, then all the "over hype" can toss off for another few years.
C-man Posted 27 June 2009 Posted 27 June 2009 It's Simon Shaw's fault. Man, I almost hate him as much as I hate James Milner. Finners, what would you find more of an honour, representing Wales, or representing Britain and Ireland? I'd be more proud of representing England if I had the chance, and a World Cup game would mean more to me than a Lions tour...
Sparky Posted 28 June 2009 Posted 28 June 2009 Good games for Kearney , Shaw and Adam and Stephen Jones , bloody disapointed with the outcome though. How Burger was allowed to remain on the pitch is a bloody joke. Too many errors in the last 10 mins. Stephen Jones missed touch with a penalty which would have put us in a fantastic position which was a shame because he had a good game , O Gara missed his tackle for the try and then the needless penalty at the end.

I didn't watch the game but I heard he was binned for gouging? Isn't that a bannable offence, how is it justified to let him carry on playing?

It'd mean more to me to win a Grand Slam for Wales than Test Series for the Lions but presuming being capped by the Lions meant I was already a Welsh international then possibly the Lions, haha. I doubt I have to tell you that I'm not especially pro-British and I don't normally get behind "British" teams or really celebrate the union - but I do tend to make an exception with the Lions. There's a long, strong tradition of great Welsh talent in the Lions and I'd be honoured to get my chance to emulate some of the heroes of the 74 tour.

Ultra Posted 28 June 2009 Posted 28 June 2009 I think this may be the last Lions tour, at least in its present form. Both this tour and the previous one of NZ have been disfigured by wanton acts of thuggery from the home sides. Once competition reaches that stage, its relevance to sport becomes limited.

Oh well, it's Australia next - unless world rugby really changes in the next few years we'll go and butcher them for a white wash. I really don't think this series has been so bad. If (ZOMG BIAS WTF) the Welsh front row had started the first game we could well have won it and again if not for unfortunate personnel issues and a contentious gouging incident we could well have won the second. No shame at all I don't think from a playing and coaching perspective. It's a shame we've lost the series because that's all people will remember but compared to the New Zealand tour it's been far better.

The only wish i have left for this tour is some game time for Harry Ellis
Finnegan Posted 29 June 2009 Posted 29 June 2009 Hmm. He might make a sub appearance but I don't think Phillips has done much wrong. The Saffers might swap a few players around now they've tied up the series but I don't think we'll take too many risks as a white-wash would be a little shocking.

Yeah Phillips has done well enough to keep his place , id personally like to see Ellis get on
Ultra Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 The Lions injury list is so long that I would be amazed if Ellis didn't play some part on Saturday.
Finnegan Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 The Lions injury list is so long that I would be amazed if Ellis didn't play some part on Saturday. What's that got to do with anything? Phillips isn't, as far as I'm aware, on that injury list so it's irrelevant whether or not five or fifty players are injured to Ellis.
Ultra Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 come off it, he'd make a great replacement prop He might not do any worse than Phil Vickery...
Sparky Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 Currently watching the Lions in a cruise shipdocked at Genoa in the cyber cafe !! Good stuff so far , Shane Williams has finally found the form we know he had . Flutey has done well also , hope we dont blow it from here!
Finnegan Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 Mike Phillips at center. He's just going to go nuts twatting people.
Cobbo Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 Loved Ugo's try. Dislike the ref again. I think I just dislike refs in all sports. How dare they officiate.
