lcfc_jme Posted 4 June 2009 Posted 4 June 2009 According to the wonderfully reliable source of wikipedia, he has a net worth of £1.8billion.. And is the owner of ACS. And I guess the shirt-sales, other merchandise and actual revenue from football means his outlay wouldn't be too extreme in signing all of these big names. Not just yet, anyway..
MarkDeVries Posted 5 June 2009 Posted 5 June 2009 I expect them to sign Kaka AND Ronaldo after the appointment of Perez. And they'll still be spending money after this. They probably wont strengthen the midfield or upfront (Huntelaar, Higuan, Raul, Nistlerooy), but need to invest in their defense, especially the full back areas (the only class defender they have I beleive is Ramos) Definately be a few departures on the cards (Gago, M Diarra, Guti, Saviola, Van der Vaart, Heinze, Drenthe) Yeh I pretty much agree with all this, especially the departures. Personally I believe that Ramos is nowhere near as good as he is made out to be.

He doesn't fund the club, he just runs it. It's against Spanish football regulations for him to pump his own money into the club and he can take any of the profits either. Real Madrid have got so much cash because Spanish teams negotiate their TV deals differently. In the Premier League the clubs do it as a collective, in Spain the clubs do it individually. As a result Real are on TV every single weekend and have got a deal which is rumoured to be worth about 2 or 3 times more what a top four premiership club would earn. Also it's the club of the government, they've bailed them out of a lot of holes and a lot of Real's debt is with Madrid banks who get a lot of favours from the local government in return for not bothering Real too mucch about giving the cash back in a hurry (or ever.)
Koke Posted 5 June 2009 Posted 5 June 2009 According to Graham Hunter, what Perez does is go to every bank and ask them for some of the necessary money to fund his spending. Any banks which refuse will then be put onto a list which Perez will publish, which will result in Madridistas withdrawing all their money from these banks. Proper blackmail like. Hunter is a tosser so I don't know how much truth there is in that - sounds a bit too outrageous. And yeah TV helps them a lot as well. And not to mention the amount of times they've been bailed out by the government.
MarkDeVries Posted 5 June 2009 Posted 5 June 2009 Graham Hunter is an absolute cock. Did anyone see him on sky sports the other day arguing that Barcelone would have walked the premier league in comparison to Man United? (Which is a fair point to an extent) So that football agent geezer (forgot his name) argued that La Liga is of a lower standard but Hunter was just ignoring him talking shit about how Barca wouldn't have stumbled against lower league clubs. Some would say Hunter is making a fair point but the way he went about it just stupid.

The Madrid press just keep saying he is sure to be able to use his business connections to generate funding Also helped a lot by tax breaks. They've got the Spanish equivalent of like charity status which saves them a lot, and foreign players pay tax at around 20% which obviously means Real have got to wax a lot less on wages than an English team whose players are now paying 50%.

Sid Lowe is the best, I love listening to him because he tell it how it is. So with Real Madrid reportedly splashing the cash here there and everywhere it could become very interesting next season.
Finnegan Posted 5 June 2009 Posted 5 June 2009 While I don't think anyone should be earning that money and while I'm not naive enough to believe Kaka's actually a living saint... I'd probably rather see him on that sort of money than David Beckham, Christianio Ronaldo or Wayne Rooney. At least you could have some sort of faith in him being a little bit more humanitarian with it. Kind of.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 5 June 2009 Posted 5 June 2009 I hope Real get him. Loved the original Galacticos.
Samilktray Posted 5 June 2009 Posted 5 June 2009 Ill most definetly be purchasing a Real shirt with Kaka on the back if he signs.
