Finchy Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 Anyone else think Ryan Sidebottom is worth a go? No idea why he's been completely ignored this series.
Corky Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 Anyone else think Ryan Sidebottom is worth a go? No idea why he's been completely ignored this series. Being a left-armer would offer some variety. Would come in for Harmison most probably.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 10 August 2009 Posted 10 August 2009 Much more enjoyable test match and good to see all four of our bowlers getting wickets.
WardyisPukka Posted 10 August 2009 Posted 10 August 2009 i can see why people in the media are calling for ramps to be included but too me it would send out the wrong message to the other england batsmen , i think bopara should be dropped for trott or key , or even moved down the order and drop bell instead , one of the differences between us and them is their middle order always rescues them clarke and north have each had a good series , I would like to see this batting line/team Strauss Cook Key Trott Collingwood Flintoff Prior Broad Swann Anderson Onions
Finchy Posted 10 August 2009 Posted 10 August 2009 Drop Bopara please. This. A lot of people are being too kind to him, I know he's got potential and he will be a great player but at the moment he's utter sh*te, I could have got more runs than him in that last test. He has to be dropped.

Does he not earn his place on form ?
Flynny Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 Key on 80 not out from 130 balls, with a 6. Not bad. No other batsmen in contention batting atm.
Fosse Boy Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 On the flip side Ramps is top of the county averages averaging over 100 . Does he not earn his place on form ? No, because everyone involved in selecting the squad is ageist beyond belief. If it were up to me he'd be in there like a shot.
Corky Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 On the flip side Ramps is top of the county averages averaging over 100 . Does he not earn his place on form ? Seems fair enough to me, we do pick players on their form, right? So what if he's 40, he doesn't have to bowl 30 overs of pace does he? Bat and then field in the slips or gully.

He's still pretty lively for his age in the field anyway, wouldn't need to hide him too much I wouldn't have thought.
Sparky Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 Its all be in vain anyway. Ah fook it lets not turn up then
Flynny Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 I was just re-reading an article I wrote for the university paper about the Ashes in June, I finished it with the sentence: "If key players become injured over the summer, rotating open batting positions between a cast of previous underperformers will go from looking slightly silly, as it does now, to dangerously stupid." I feel a bit smug now.

I feel a bit smug now. You lucky so and so. I've been instructed to only write about campus sports for our paper. <_< Hopefully the new editor's going to cut me a bit more slack for the forthcoming year though.
Fox You Forest Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Lets all have a guess which country Dirk Nannes will play for next.
Corky Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Lets all have a guess which country Dirk Nannes will play for next. Ireland I reckon.
Fox You Forest Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Ireland I reckon. I know we shouldn't really complain given the players we use but two months.
Sparky Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Lets all have a guess which country Dirk Nannes will play for next. How can you represent Holland in the T20 world cup then 2 months later play for Australia in T20 internationals . Daft
Fox You Forest Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 I'd love us to play that Leverock fella'. He's a copper in Barbados I think when he's not playing, I bet that's a hard job.
Fox You Forest Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Ramprakash just out for 24 in a Pro40 game.
Fosse Boy Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 He's a copper in Barbados I think when he's not playing, I bet that's a hard job. Bermuda actually. It's still gotta be Ramps for me after seeing some of the soft dismissals of his main rivals today.
