true blue jamie Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 who should we get 2 replace the great walker.it will be difficult
shen Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Peter Skov-Jensen Paul Gerrard Stuart Taylor Stefan Postma Andres(?) Kolinko ...are all viable options... Maybe we could even make a cheeky attempt at bringing Kasey Keller back
Matt Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Taylor me thinks. Although we were linked with Rab Dougless or whatever his name is wern't we? Even though i've heard he's crap! Maybe we'll get a player who currently plays in scotland for a change!?!?!?
TornadoShaunUK Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Hopefully we'll atleast make a go for Stuart Taylor. I dont see the point in getting rid of a quality goalkeeper for being old then bringing in another old keeper. We best get an up and coming keeper like Taylor but I doubt hed come here on a long term basis =/ I just pray to god we dont get Rab C Nesbitt..
City Fan Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Would have said either Postma or Taylor, but after seeing Postma let in 5 goals for the Villa, definitely Taylor.
Mark Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Luke Steele - Man Utd signed him for millions years ago from Peterborough but he hasn't had a look in yet.
Little Nicky Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Luke Steele - Man Utd signed him for millions years ago from Peterborough but he hasn't had a look in yet. 104058 Good call, wouldn't mind that at all! It'll never happen mind you, come on Stuart Taylor!
breadandcheese Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Keepers I wouldn't say no to in the hunt for Walker's replacement. Stuart Taylor Mike Pollitt - Rotherham Darren Ward - Norwich
Hazza Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Taylor preferably, failing that Pollitt or Gerrard. Steele has seemed poor for Cov, made quite a few mistakes too.
Fox in a Box Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Lee Grant from Derby 104053 never get him just signed new contract
Knighton Matt Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 still maintain postma would be worth a dibble dabble!
BartonFox Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Craig Gordon from Hearts, with all the shenannigans up there he'll jump at the chance to leave.
Foxes_Trust Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Seemed to have posted this several times now across message boards. As a Premiership reserve we believe Taylor is on over £10k a week & therefore unless willing to take a significant drop, is out of our price range.

I doubt we'll be able to get Taylor too, but we can live in hope while it lasts.

step Posted 7 May 2005 Posted 7 May 2005 Taylor is out of favour and is just festering away and the longer it continues the harder it will be for him to come back and join a decent team, so it would be to Taylors long term advantage to join us, especially if he thinks we can get back into the premier. Arse aint intereasted in playing him so would be to their advantage to let him go and save some money. Of course Taylor may not be willing to leave for less money but if CL was to pay him 5k/ week. Arse could compensate taylor with the difference for the term of his arse contract or untill we get promoted. at which time city could then increase his wages accordingly. This would save arse 5k/ week. Guarentee Taylors wages stayed the same Re-start Taylors career Give us a good goal keeper. and most importantly everyone gains something

That notion although essentially a decent idea is ridiculous, it will never happen! I think we're looking realistically, although it pains me to say it at Rab 'clucking' Douglas

Taylor plays first-team football and Arsenal save money.
TornadoShaunUK Posted 7 May 2005 Posted 7 May 2005 surely whether or not stuart taylor would want to come here is the most important thing? I cant see why he would leave a top premiership side that is practically guaranteed of getting in europe for seasons to come in favour of joining an.. at present.. medicore coca cola championship side. Id wager if he was to leave Arsenal there would at the very least be a few lower ranking premiership sides interested and Id wager he would rather join one of those..
Hazza Posted 7 May 2005 Posted 7 May 2005 He'd leave Arsenal for first team football, he's said that himself. Arsenal's goalkeeping problems have been pretty well documented but he's still not had a look in and they probably rate Graham Stack, currently on loan at Millwall, higher. I'd also think he'd go to a better side than us but if he enjoyed his loan and could see the potential and promise in what Craig Levein is doing, it's certainly possible. As for his wages, Walker must have been on something similiar and, with the others who are going, we'd be able to splash out a bit.

But does CL want him? it appears not

In which case Arsenal would let him go and save 10k a week rather than making a deal with us where they pay 5k for a player that ain't even theirs!
