Ultra Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 Mine has to be the 2003 rugby World Cup, when Jonny Wilkinson landed the last-minute drop goal. In football, it's the time England beat Germany 5-1.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 Bloody tough one my first thoughts are. Melbourne Storm's awesome comeback in the NRL grand Final to win it in the dying seconds and it was only there second year in exsistence. Australias 1999 cricket world cup win. Out of form playing the favorites South Africa in the last game of the super 8's to get in to the semis and the semi which was an amazing tie. Steven Bradbury's Olympic Winter games gold medal, had a guy get disqualified after the race to get in to the semi final race. Had a guy or two crash in front of him and he passed them to get in to the medal race. In the Medal race all 4 other compitors fell on the final bend when he was half a lap behind and he came thru to get Australias first Gold. Socceroos penalty shoot out to get in to the world cup for the first time in 30 odd years against Uraguay and the Japan game in the world cup. My hair still stands up on the back of my neck when i see highlights of these games. Melbourne Victory 6nil win in the A-league grand final against Adelaide..........may not seem big but was amazing build up and atomospher. There's probably more i have forgotten.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 I could pick so many moments from the '05 Ashes. <_<
Craig Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 <_< It's quite funny that you posted just as i did. My post honestly wasn't a response to you Edit - I saw the ****
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 It's quite funny that you posted just as i did. My post honestly wasn't a response to you Edit - I saw the **** Yeah i was jokingly trying to call you a p rick Also i have about a plenty of great AFL moments but there is too many to name. Seeing Makybe Diva win 3 Melbourne Cups in a row and being there for her first and last was special.
Shrenchel Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Probably one of Rayo Vallecano's late winners this season. As much as I'd like it to, nothing apart from Leicester and Endland's football teams really gets my balls blue unless I'm in the ground.
lou Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Linford Christie winning 100m Gold Medal in Barcelona 1992 Olympics. Red Rum's 3rd National Win. Torville and Deanes maximum points Balero performance. Must be loads more
ACF Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 EDIT: Some details....... ANZAC Day, 2nd biggest game in the AFL calendar is on this day, Essendon vs Collingwood. Collingwood have been up there for the past 5-6 years, making the finals. Essendon, in a rebuilding stage after poor form for the past 6-7 years. Essendon had poor form against Collingwood. Everyone expects Collingwood to win, but Essendon play out of their skins, leading for a lot of the game. Collingwood take the lead in the final quarter, only for a last-minute goal from rookie player David Zaharakis to win the game. I think I was running around like a headless chicken, but best feeling ever!
StanSP Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Mine has to be the 2003 rugby World Cup, when Jonny Wilkinson landed the last-minute drop goal.In football, it's the time England beat Germany 5-1. I was gonna say these two.
Fosse Boy Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 I could pick so many moments from the '05 Ashes. It has to be the finale of the second Test for me. Just breathtaking. Plus Leicestershire's two T20 Cup wins were pretty good. I don't really remember much about our '96 and '98 Championship wins, but I was at Grace Road on the day we won them both I think?
Granno Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Like Craig said, so many special moments from the Ashes series. Liverpool's comeback vs Milan in the Champions League final.
James. Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Scoring from the half way line for Birstall United under 10's against Seaton in 1992.
General Smuts Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Scoring from the half way line for Birstall United under 10's against Seaton in 1992. Scoring from the half way line for Allexton & New Parks under 14s against my former club Ratby & Groby in 2000. On my debut. Epic. County Cup final would have been a major highlight had my dad played me in it. I warmed up on the touchline for 20 minutes waiting to come on. The willy puller.
purpleronnie Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Mine is the best & worst rolled into one, I came 2nd in the 100metres county championships, I was very happy as the 1st and 2nd placed athletes qualified for england trials. But that year they decided to change it to winners only, plus I only lost by 100th of a second.
Uncle Albert Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Scoring in a Cup Final is my own personal greatest moment. But the old professional sport is probably Liverpool's comeback and to be watching it with the old man was pretty special, the 2005 Ashes and the Rugby World Cup win.
Tommy G Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 No-one mentioned hamiltons championship win last season? Where he overtook in the last corner, the drama was mad and something I'll never forget
Webbo Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Red Rum's 3rd National Win. You must have been still in nappies. My best turned into my worst, Ben Johnson winning the 100m in the Olympics and then finding out that he cheated. Athletics lost it's appeal after that.
Sparky Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 4th day of the 4th Ashes test at Trent bridge , i was there to see such a fantastic ending Gazza s goal to put England 2-0 up against the Jocks , Pure magic Wilkos drop goal to make us well deserved World champions
StanSP Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 No-one mentioned hamiltons championship win last season? Where he overtook in the last corner, the drama was mad and something I'll never forget Because it was fixed Haha nah it was a great moment for British Motorsport no question about it.
Uncle Albert Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 I know the result wasnt great but the whole build up and fight between Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton was awesome.
Kilworthfox Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 I know the result wasnt great but the whole build up and fight between Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton was awesome. & that is worth mentioning on "what is your greatest sporting moment"? Bizarre what Sky can do to the youth of today! How about Lineker scoring against the Germans in the world cup semi final 1990 The SAS taking apart Holland in 96 Marco Tardelli celebrating his world cup final goal Valentino Rossi overtaking Lorenzo on the last bend when it was apparently impossible? purpleronnie Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 I cant stand motorsport I find it dull but thats a great lap and the commentators are fab, rossi is my step brothers hero, I dont understand why it was such a good move but it was great to watch.
Kilworthfox Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 I cant stand motorsport I find it dull but thats a great lap and the commentators are fab, rossi is my step brothers hero, I dont understand why it was such a good move but it was great to watch. I is a corner which is not an overtaking corner. I know from a less knowledgeable understanding that sounds unusual, but certain corners have long straights or heavy breaking areas, however the corner where Rossi undertakes is a 2nd part of a U which is more of a lead on to the main straight. Basically I have never seen anyone over or undertake on such a corner unless of a mechanical problem. Great move by a genius & gentleman of sport.
