welck12 Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 How can people be mentioning the 2005 ashes, are we not forgetting what a certain Mr Botham did back in the day? Or Lara's test record? The 05 ashes was good but there's been a hell of a lot better surely from a cricket point of view
Uncle Albert Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 & that is worth mentioning on "what is your greatest sporting moment"? Bizarre what Sky can do to the youth of today! Yea it is or I wouldnt of bothered to have said it.
Tevez Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 What about Mario Balotelli just hitting it over from about 40 yards in the Under 21's semi? I loved that shit.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Scored a peach down at Garat's Hay when I was about 8, was ecstatic when it went in.
Webbo Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 How can people be mentioning the 2005 ashes, are we not forgetting what a certain Mr Botham did back in the day? Good call, winning the test after following on was a brilliant achievement.
Finnegan Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Three real stand-out moments for me, all in rugby: 1. Scott Gibbs scores at Wembley against England in injury time. 2. Grand Slam '05 3. Wales vs England, Twickenham '08. But probably the most ecstactic I've ever been was beating Italy 2 - 1 at home. I went fucking nuts when Bellers put the winner in.
Sly Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Football England 4 - 1 Holland - Euro 96, To this day this game is still fantastic to watch Liverpool 5 - 4 - Depertivo Alves - 2001 UEFA cup final - Brilliant game Liverpool 3 - 3 AC Milan - 2005 Champions League Final Either of the two 4-3 Liverpool newcastle games. England winning the Rugby World Cup Leicester Tigers winning a European Cup - when I used to follow them a bit more Damon Hill winning Formula 1 championship, I couldn't care about Lewis Hamilton if I'm honest On a personnel note, it would have to be winning some football cup of some sort, not sure which one!

The Doctor Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Euro 2008 qualifying Scotland 1-0 France France 0-1 Scotland
Ultra Posted 2 July 2009 Author Posted 2 July 2009 How to change a Test match in one over. Classic. I remember watching that while drowning my sorrows after we'd been stuffed 4-1 at Bramall Lane.
Fosse Boy Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 How can people be mentioning the 2005 ashes, are we not forgetting what a certain Mr Botham did back in the day? Or Lara's test record? The 05 ashes was good but there's been a hell of a lot better surely from a cricket point of view I thought we were just meant to be commenting on stuff that had happened in our own respective lifetimes. But now the rules have changed, mine would have to be C.B. Fry equalling the world long jump record in 1893. Scoring in PE. Good work. What was her name?
Zingari Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 '66 world cup no question at no. 1 ( they think it's all over ) some others Ali v Foreman, rumble in the jungle Torville and Dean sarajevo 84 john h stracey v jose napoles , title fight mexico 75 bob beamon long jump mexico 68
Ozwin Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Being captain of the winning rounders team in a competition of all the schools in Leicester when I was like 11. I picked the team and everything. There hasn't been many since as you can tell...
Joe. Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Mine has to be the 2003 rugby World Cup, when Jonny Wilkinson landed the last-minute drop goal. I'd go with that too, what a brilliant finale that was. Probably add the England Ashes victory to mine as well.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 Can't remember the year think it was the last test of the 02/03 cricket season and there was talk the Steve Waugh was going to be dropped before that test due to a long sustained period of poor form which subsequently retire if he didn't do something in this last test of the summer. In front of his home crowd he strolled out just before tea. After Tea he started smashing the ball playing slog sweeps and everything (not his style). The crowd was loving it as everyone wanted him to ton up Last ball of the day he was stuck on 96 or 97 and and with a full house going nuts, every man and his dog watching on TV, he belted it to the boundary. I have never enjoyed cricket as much as i did that day Steve Waugh an absolute hero. Another was againtst India Michael Clarke of all people got 3 wickets in the last over of the 5th day to turn an inevitable draw in to one of the great wins.
ACF Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 Forgot about Wilkinson. Stuff of legends. Great fun rubbing it in my mate's faces.
Corky Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 Liverpool 3-3 AC Milan Andy Caddick taking four wickets in an over against the West Indies in 2000 (loved watching that)
Fox92 Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 Something to do with footballing hero Stevie Gerrard. v Man United v Ac Milan v West Ham
