Floating Fox Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 Why do we never go on any interesting pre-season tours that the fans can actually get to? Even the Fo**st scum have had a good tour. Even in our 125th anniversary yaer we can't even must anything better than Chesterfield away.
Guest Bilo Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 Slovenia never struck me as ideal holiday location.... but after such a great review, I'd be foolish not to go .... right? Very nice skiing apparently.
Bert Posted 13 July 2009 Author Posted 13 July 2009 The squad that's flew out will be the players that will feature mostly this season, I believe.
maddog Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 The squad that's flew out will be the players that will feature mostly this season, I believe. Well thats pretty obvious it's basically the whole squad
Bert Posted 13 July 2009 Author Posted 13 July 2009 Well thats pretty obvious it's basically the whole squad You know what I meant you Cock. DJ? Levi? Few others who played well on Saturday that aren't there.
davieG Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 You know what I meant you Cock. DJ? Levi? Few others who played well on Saturday that aren't there. maddog just wants to know who's going to be playing the televised games
Cropwellfox Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 It highlights how much stronger the squad is from last year when comparing who NP took to Slovenia this stage last season. The group of 23 then included Campbell, Cox, Cisak, N'Gotty, Odhiambo, Psssh, Rowe-Turner, Weso, Worley and Kish. Quite a high %age of the squad who wouldn't feature at all. There's not too many of the squad selected this time who you couldn't see playing at some point. The other thought is with only 4 strikers selected, there's surely got to be at least 1 significant signing up front to come.
ob1kanobe0 Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 What with the sqaud flying out to Slovenia, there'll be no transfers happening, (I doubt) and not really much to talk about. All this sitting around waiting is like sitting outside a courthouse waiting to be dealt with Teletext pages 558 (itv) and 740 (sky text) say nothing. Something gota be done about pre-seasons when theres no euro or world cup finals, I NEED FOOTBALL. Non euro/world cup pre-seasons should be 6 weeks apart, and have U21 euro/world cup and all the masters crammed in that 6 weeks. Infact, lets have league masters from next summer on, all the finalists from this year in a new premier league. FOOTBALL FOOTBALL FOOTBALL, now now now.
Daggers Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 City squad in Slovenia: Aleksandar Tunchev, Robbie Neilson, Michael Morrison, Jack Hobbs, Bruno Berner, Luke O'Neill, Wayne Brown, Andy King, Matt Oakley, Dany N'Guessan, Max Gradel, Lloyd Dyer, Nicky Adams, Astrit Ajdarevic, Robbie Burns, Matty Fryatt, Steve Howard, Ashley Chambers, Paul Dickov, Conrad Logan, Carl Pentney, Chris Weale, Richie Wellens. In all honesty, I really can't see this squad achieving more than a mid-table finish. We are still light in midfield and our forward line is dreadful.
BlabyFox Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 The forum is already deserted anyway. On gamespot a new thread is on the 2nd page within an hour or less.
BlabyFox Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 In all honesty, I really can't see this squad achieving more than a mid-table finish. We are still light in midfield and our forward line is dreadful. Midfield is now strong enough and forward line is Ok, although we do need another striker.

We are still light in midfield and our forward line is dreadful. Yeah our midfield is good enough and capable of a strong position in the championship I think. We need another forward, but will most likely not get one for a while due to the squad being away. Kee, Chambers, King, Dickov aren't that bad of a back up but If we want to push for play offs then we need someone in. Have to remember Nige will most likely dip into the loan market again though

We are still light in midfield and our forward line is dreadful. I agree with you Daggers....also a few question marks on some players wether they can make the step up. Who are the wingers going to be?
dodododougan Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 What with the sqaud flying out to Slovenia, there'll be no transfers happening, (I doubt) and not really much to talk about. Supposed to have put a bid in of £1.5 mill for striker Simeon Jackson of Gillingham
davieG Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Hobbs on Tour - OS City's training in Slovenia stepped up a gear on the second day. Here, in his exclusive diary, Foxes favourite Jack Hobbs gives the lowdown. "After a relatively more relaxed day yesterday it was back to the football today. We had a early breakfast and then prepared for training, starting at half nine when it was still very hot again. "The morning session was all ball related, which as a player I was happy to see. As it was very hot, the session included a lot of short and sharp drills. The group was split into two and each drill was specific to the group that was practicing them. "The lads look very focused even in the heat and the tempo is very good. After training the players all have an ice bath (some more willing than others) and then have lunch. "After a couple of hours of letting the food settle and resting the legs, we were back out training. The afternoon session included core work, stretching and some gym work. "The facilities here are excellent including a spa area with plunge pools and hot baths all aiding in our recovery from the tough sessions. "The new guys are settling in great, they all look good in training and all feel as part of the team so it is all good in that respect. "Another team who were training here and have just left were the Slovenia U19 team preparing for the European Championships involving England with our Joe Mattock in the squad.
Ultra Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Plenty of gossip in the media (Jackson arriving? King leaving?) to keep us entertained in the squad's absence.
davieG Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 City's Slovenian sojourn continues with City favourite Jack Hobbs reporting from the training camp. "Day three started like the previous two with the lads up for an early breakfast and then training starting at 9.30. "This morning was a very tough session with a warm up, some attack versus defence and then a fitness test. The fitness test is tough enough but combined with the heat it was a real grind. "But all the lads got through it and the ice bath afterwards was a refreshing touch! "So after this we all headed back to camp for some dinner and a few hours of rest before what we thought was to be an afternoon session. "After lunch, however, we had a meeting discussing various things. During this meeting we got told we had the afternoon off and the lads had some free time to do as they pleased. " I think some hit a few balls on the driving range, some went to the pool, others just slept and a few went for a walk. It was a pleasant surprise after a tough morning and I feel the boys were thankful for the rest.
ob1kanobe0 Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 I was thinking about this slow week last night, and my mind wondered. getting through the end of may, is like being rushed into A&E getting through june, is like being in a coma getting through july, is like going through cold turkey august 1st to first game, is like christmas eve when you're 10
