Stueyt74 Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 This would make my day. I lie. It would make my year.
ronnup Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Hard to stand in the lads way if there's a move to a succesful prem team on the cards, i'd be gutted but if we could get Delfonso on loan as part of the deal it'd look a bit sweeter
Ozwin Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 He's already going after Delph, I don't think he'd be spending big money on another youngster, especially one from a club he used to manage. It'd be like stealing their baby or something.
ob1kanobe0 Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 If King Kong did go, our midfield could be, oakley, wellens, clemence, dyer, its not bad, and weso, gradel, n'guessen and adams in support. That said, we shouldn't let him go for less than 5M.

It'd be like stealing their baby or something. Agreed, Villa are meant to be after Delph at 7million rising, Downing at 12million possibly rising and Andy King at 2million rising. Surley Villa ain't gunna let him/Martin ain't gunna spend that much money. I mean, 12million for Downing, and then another near enough 10million on Delph and King. Although he did spend alot last season
Dan Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 He is a good player and has the potential to be a great player, for crying out loud he is only 20. The same goes for Mattock City should not be selling these young players but nurturing them. It is the acadamy players that are the future of the club. City hasn't got the financial clout to pay the massive transfer fees that are being demanded. Both the above are still learning their craft - give them space - don't get on their back. Wasn't getting on their back. But like I said with Mattock, we can make more than £2mil for King, try and get £3mil + add ons. If they don't pay it then we keep him.

lou Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 Personally Id rather keep Kingy for at least another season £2million is not a huge amount of money by todays standards and he is young enough to keep improving. I dont believe it anyway
lcfc_jme Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 As if. He looked lightweight and behind the pace at times last season, so I doubt he'd make waves in the Prem. There are far better Welsh central midfielders than King around.
FoxesFan123 Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 Andy King is one of the, if not the, most important players in Leicesters starting XI. I don't think alot of people realise how much work he does and how important he is to us winning games. Alot of the play comes through him, he clears things up, he starts moves off. Underrated, in my opinion. A few years back a certain Mr Neil Lennon left for Celtic for £5million, and the whole team fell apart. We ended up here (or the start of last season). I think it was Peter Taylor himself who openly admitted he made a mistake selling Lennon. Now, I'm not putting King in the same bracket as Lennon, nowhere near it, but I just feel him leaving could have a similar impact to the team, as I don't think Oakley, Clemence, Weso or even Wellens (despite never seeing him play) could fill his role.

Apologies, but every word, I mean every word, total tosh. Get shot. MON is mad if the reports are true. We should cash in now in case he suddenly realises he's gone mad!

BoneDog Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 How is it utter tosh for him to say Andy King is one of the most important players in our starting XI ? He was excellent last season
philayres200 Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 How is it utter tosh for him to say Andy King is one of the most important players in our starting XI ? He was excellent last season Sorry, I thought we were talking about Andy King, the young Welsh lad that played last season. I know it is all a matter of opinion, but our weakest area last season was absolutely without question the midfield, and if we hadn't had Oakley our season could have been a nightmare. I will say this though, Oakley did have some poor games, not many, but they were the games we lost.

I will say this though, Oakley did have some poor games, not many, but they were the games we lost. you are talking out of your anus, Andy King was voted our young player of the year and was runner up to Steve Howard in the player of the year award, far from poor. Oakley who you rated so highly was pathetic when he played in CM last season and couldn't link up with King at all, only found some form when he was moved out wide for 1st Bruno Berner to play the holding role and release King and then Mark Davies who is probably largely responsible for our promotion, as when he came in we were struggling big time, he was the spark that lifted us back to form and started our record breaking run, linking up very well with Andy King who had gone back to the deeper role ,proving that the problem in getting central midfield to work wasn't him, it was down to Oakley, who had he not been the captain would probably of been dropped completely and after he left our midfield had lost most of its cut and thrust Oakley was also extremely poor when he 1st came here, not helped by having a different partner every week granted but was still poor. If either King or Oakley has to give way then in my opinion King offers much more both in attack and defence them Matt Oakley, is a better presence aerially and can score from distance out of nothing. £2m for King is an insult when Fabien Delph (who has achieved next to nothing) is being touted at £7m, when you consider King is already a full international, played a key role in a promotion winning side and already has experience at a higher level of club Football then Delph. King is far from the complete player but he has the better long term future at this club then Matt Oakley
eaststandtom Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 king is an good player and an excellent rospect. must keep him! simple oakley pathetic? for me, take oakley out of the equation = no championship last season. maybe even promotion he had some poor games sure but more often than not even then he could influence a game in other ways by some good off the ball running to pick up loose balls or close down some space. anyone at northampton away could see a poor scrappy game but oakley dominated in midfiled by doing this kind of job in a game where his usual good technique and ability was not neccersarily there.

Oakley was terrible in CM, he was playing rm for most of it which is where he found his form for most of last season our mid was Oakley King Berner/Davies Dyer

Probably no more than 10 -15 games. Cleverly played a large part in the second half of the season and Max Gradel was in for the last few too.
Samilktray Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 I reckon we should try n sort a swap deal. King for Delph.

Cleverly played a large part in the second half of the season and Max Gradel was in for the last few too. Oakley was moved wider very early after Gradel was dropped, when Cleverley 1st came in he was playing Cm then he started alternating with Oakley and it was literally his last few games when he was starting on the wing, most of the time Oakley was (mean to be) playing right wing although half the time he was in the middle, which is why Kerrea Gilbert was so important to us
Guest Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 I reckon we should try n sort a swap deal.King for Delph. No need, he's STILL in Kingy's pocket (just had to get that joke in before someone else did)

I'm with you. Oakley held the midfield together last season, without doubt. King for his age did OK, and obviously worth more long term than Oakley, but that is because he is about ten years younger, not because at the moment he is a better player. I will repeat what I have already said before - if King plays a full season as a preferred midfield starter, we will not get promoted this season. Accept he is not good enough yet. Now it might be nice for the lad if we stick with him because he is a prospect and nice and lovely and stuff, but I don't want that. I want us to have the best chance we can get of back to back promotions. This is the team I support and I want success, not bloody charity!
Ultra Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 You forget that Oakley didn't exactly take the Championship by storm when he joined us. I certainly can't see him leading us to back-to-back promotions. King's departure would imply that we are no more than a feeder club. Whatever Villa offer, it won't be enough.
