Vlad The Impaler Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 imagine you were a factory worker.... 4 companies want you to work for them.... one of them offers you a bigger wage than the others... you have NO attachment to either of the others..... are you really going to turn the bigger offer down? I see your point and agree to an extent but Lita is supposedly getting £17,000 a week which is FAR too much for most people to be perfectly honest. I can understand them wanting the most money but Lita strikes me as someone who only cares about the money more than bettering himself.
Fox You Forest Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 Or they started putting on Jaffa Cakes at 3pm?Bloody good point. Jaffa Cakes? That's where we're going wrong, we've probably offered him those but he's heard about the bakewell tart in the media suite.

Vlad The Impaler Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 i agree thats too much.. but it isnt his fault someone offered him that money... and it took a relegated prem team to do so, which was kid of what i was trying to explain Yeah I know what you're getting at and agree, if i was in a factory I would go for the highest salary. And the money must be tempting, it just depends on what kind of person you are, I'd understand it more if he was 34 but not bloody 24!! IF he came to us then he would have had much more of a chance to improve on his skills and get more gametime therefore leading to bigger wages in the future rather than going to a club like Middlesborough where he wont improve as much as he would of down here and won't get more gametime, therefore resulting in other strikers taking the shine off him and him just fading in the background and left to almost be forgottten, resulting in smaller clubs then wanting him offering less money, he'll learn one day that this was the wrong career choice for him. From now on though the only way I can see for him is down.
Dan Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 I'm guessing you don't have any relations employed by Rover? No It's just that when you're in the wage bracket of tens of thousands a week, money becomes less of a motivating factor. If thats how it worked Lita would already be here mate, its more money he's gone for without doubt, here he would play more than at Sheff Utd and at Middlesbrough.
flanimal Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 Lita will be shit next year, Southgate doesn't have the steel to put him in line. We'll all be fooking glad he whored himself off to the 'Boro.

Well correct me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure we have some pretty good coaches/backroom staff. Nige is a better manager than Southgate. Yeah he will be training with better players but i'm pretty sure we'd all rather be playing with a good, league 1 winning, young team than just training with 'better players' and having the odd appearance. If we wanted to improve ourselves.

They have never been able to score enough and I think they have been lucky to have been in the Prem as long as they did with him. They don't have momentum which we have so we should be looking to carry it on in to next year while Southgate has to find a winning mentality some where.

Momentum is key yeah, I think Lita would of upset some of the boys here aswell as we all know of his attitude. He could of possibly cost us £17,000 a week and a respectable position in the championship when you think about it. We should be thanking our lucky stars!
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 Momentum is key yeah, I think Lita would of upset some of the boys here aswell as we all know of his attitude. We seem to have good team spirit in the camp, something I feel we have lacked for a long time. We don't want some guy who has an attitude problem coming in and upsetting everyone and the teams morale. In some ways I am quite relieved we didn't sign him.
flanimal Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 I don't understand how anyone can claim Southgate is a quality manager. He's way too lightweight in authority, his signings are usually terrible, even if he has good players in his team he can't motivate them and plays systems that don't work for them. He's a wannabe, a nice guy sure, but a poor manager. He's lucky he has a good relationship with the chairman, otherwise anyone with sense would of sacked him long ago.

Yeah you're right, Lita's a ****ing waster, absolute knobhead and ain't even that good. Thank god we didn't sign him. Super Dickov!

Sorry I didn't realise you were in the dressing room at the Riverside. He made a terrible error in wasting £12m on Alves, but I can't see how you can say signings like Tuncay are 'terrible'. Try and think through your points before making them, else you'll just look silly.

flanimal Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 Exactly my point, Tuncay is a quality player and Southgate got little out of him. If he was a good manager he would've done a lot better. What are you basing this idea that he's a good manager on? The facts speak for themselves.

Maybe he will be good in a few years or better as an assistant manager..
flanimal Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 He should've kept them up last season without doubt.Maybe he will be good in a few years or better as an assistant manager.. That's it, he got his shot at managing too early and too easy. In a few years, he could be good but it's shocking that he got Boro relegated with the players they had and the money. At least Newcastle had excuses in the way of a shit chairman, managers etc.

What are you basing this idea that he's a good manager on? The facts speak for themselves. I never said he was a good manager, Maybes did. With regards to Tuncay: The 2008-09 season saw him pick up all four of the club's major awards for 2009: the Players Player of the Year, Garmin Player of the Year, the Middlesbrough FC Official Supporters’ Club Prize and the Terrace Legends Award. Yeah, little out of him. What I said was that I think he'll sort Boro out. They'll go up this year if GS is there in May.
Mark Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 I am at a total loss to appreciate what your point is, Mark. My point is, we won't shift him if we let him rot. It may be what he deserves, but it's doing more harm to the club than him. If we had an alternative striker, I could accept it. Penalising is fine, he spoke out in wanting to leave, and deserved that. Jermaine Beckford did the same a few months back and requested a transfer, but he is in Leeds pre season preparations...? It seems to me we are just accepting Campbell's outburst now and letting his wages cripple us. Who knows, maybe we haven't been able to sign some of the strikers we've been linked with because we've been waiting around hoping someone will take Campbell off our hands and deals have collapsed. He's off the radar not playing games, a loan and small % of wages is the best we can hope for.

What I said was that I think he'll sort Boro out. They'll go up this year if GS is there in May. I think flaminal is trying to say that he could of still got more out of him, which I agree with. They didn't exactly have many stand out players last season really tbf.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 Southgate did poorly last season but in his first two seasons they finished 12th and 13th, with no prior management experience. Given what happened to someone like Paul Ince managing in the Premiership (with 18 months of league experience behind him), Southgate hasn't done terribly in his management career so far. This season will make or break him in all probability.
flanimal Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 Tuncay is quality, but being Middlesbrough's best player last season doesn't exactly mean much. I too think they'll go up, though.
