Leroy Lita on his way to Middlesboro'

He'd be about £10m I reckon, minimum. We could shift DJ out there in an exchange deal. We know how much Boro like overpaid greedy strikers with bad attitudes.

My point is, we won't shift him if we let him rot. It may be what he deserves, but it's doing more harm to the club than him. If we had an alternative striker, I could accept it.

Penalising is fine, he spoke out in wanting to leave, and deserved that. Jermaine Beckford did the same a few months back and requested a transfer, but he is in Leeds pre season preparations...?

It seems to me we are just accepting Campbell's outburst now and letting his wages cripple us. Who knows, maybe we haven't been able to sign some of the strikers we've been linked with because we've been waiting around hoping someone will take Campbell off our hands and deals have collapsed. He's off the radar not playing games, a loan and small % of wages is the best we can hope for.

Campbell's played at King's Lynn and Oadby so we're not letting him rot in that sense.

Beckford never said he would rather play anywhere else but Leeds, and he has always been a key player and achieved things for them unlike Campbell for us.

Whereas most people on here seem to think Campbell is just another player who can play for us so should be in the reckoning, I think Pearson sees the players he wants to form the squad as separate from the likes of Porter, Wesolowski and Campbell. That's not to say they will never force their way back in but with what he's achieved so far, who's to say he's going about anything the wrong way? It's obviously an unusual position that the club finds itself in with Campbell, and it'd be quite simplistic to assume he's not as responsible for it as anyone else. Who knows how it has come about?

Agree with you. I think Southgate has been a lucky manager. They have never been able to score enough and I think they have been lucky to have been in the Prem as long as they did with him.

They don't have momentum which we have so we should be looking to carry it on in to next year while Southgate has to find a winning mentality some where.

He has been, to work under such a lenient chairman, they've wasted so much money as well.

I don't understand how anyone can claim Southgate is a quality manager. He's way too lightweight in authority, his signings are usually terrible, even if he has good players in his team he can't motivate them and plays systems that don't work for them. He's a wannabe, a nice guy sure, but a poor manager. He's lucky he has a good relationship with the chairman, otherwise anyone with sense would of sacked him long ago.

They have a very good team really but produced the same old mediocrity year after year, the amount they spent they really should be in at least the top half of the Prem. How he's kept his job I will never know.

I hope Southgate does alright with Boro and keeps his job. Not because I like Boro, just because while he's there it'll stop them poaching Pearson! ;)

if he goes boro then it could make an intresting battle at the top for promotion and play off places because theres so many good teams that are going to be very strong this year. i mean i wouldnt rule out a team like blackpool pushing for a play off spot.

we just need that one elusive striker!

Yup, Sniffer beat me by 5 Mins

Dream is over, Pears will have to look elsewhere

Half glad we didn't get him anyway, obviously we'll see how he does this season as to whether it's right or not.

I see what you mean but it is another target missed and with reuben reid going WB yesterday it does not look to good on recruitment. :(

Fooking hell nobody wants to play for Leicester City.

Lita is the best striker avaliable with the best record and was free, to not get him is a massive blow.

Theres no way we are going to score enough goals to at least stay in touch with the playoffs throughout the season with the current strikers we have.

And i don't want another noble season where we stay miles clear of the playoffs and get sucked into a relegation battle.

Fook me, if Cox and Lita don't want to play for us who will.

The only strikers we have a chance of signing are proven League Two goalscorers or OAPs which doesn't fill me with confidence.

6 days until the new season.

If he or others don't want to sign for us then they aren't right players for us.

If they are as good as everyone reckons and don't sign then that tells you where we're at in our attempt to regain a foothold in the Championship and above.

Welcome to the world of professional football :dunno:

If Lita would rather play for Boro than for us, that's his loss.

Let's move on and try to sign someone else before the season starts.

I agree with you.

It's no good having this blasé attitude "if he don't want to come here then we move on", why not fight for players? Clubs like us, Sheff Utd and Middlesborough are a much of a muchness and if we'd had offered enough we'd have got him. I'd be far less cynical and bitter about the ticket prices going up if the extra revenue was to pay for players like Lita, but it appears the club aren't that bothered. Pearson has built a very good defence, he's addressed the midfield problems with a ball player like Wellens, I just don't get why the striker situation is proving so much more difficult. Yes the deadline is open all month but you don't want to have a bad start in this league, just look at 07/08, the first game at home to Blackpool typified the season. And back then it was a striker problem too, starting Mark de Vries, must be something to do with this club.
