Matt Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 Getting ridiculous now, with one week to go and Fryatt not match fit, we're facing the very real prospect of Dickov having to play. I don't care what anyone says, the situation is far from ok. I said it the other day i'll say it again, I'd rather DJ play than Dickov if that's the case, And DJ don't even wanna play for us, what does that say about Dickov?!
Guest ttfn Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 If we don't sign him he isn't the right player for us. The wisest words ever written on this forum

I agree, I'd rather have DJ than Dickov, but that's not going to happen, Pearson has excluded him completely. With Fryatt unfit, Dickov is currently our second choice out-and-out striker behind Howard atm. Worrying.
acooling08 Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 I want a signing so badly. This pre-season has been so tortuous.
Daggers Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 Maybe if Pearson or whoever swallowed their pride and played Campbell we could have sold him by now or at least had an alternative to you know who. Whoevers behind this has well and truly messed up our start to the season. Sorry? "Maybe if Pearson or whoever swallowed their pride and played Campbell"? When? In the pre-season friendlies where we were meant to be preparing for this season? During the last season when we were pushing for promotion and he was refusing to be a part of a side? Exactly what part did anyone in the world have to play in that little shit being here beyond the club not penalising him for acting in an unprofessional manner? Campbell is the only person responsible for his current position. I am at a total loss to appreciate what your point is, Mark.
Joe. Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 Think we're all forgetting that Kermorgant is still on his way, so that's three strikers (and Dickov/ N'Guessan) we've got at least. Obviously it'd be much nicer to have another quality forward, but if the players aren't available for the right fee then it's pointless buying for the sake of it. Just got to get Fryatt fit asap now and it may look a little better.

Dan Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_5466087,00.html Game, set, and match, TO FUCKING BORO

Dan Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 What's wrong with Boro? Just the fact us and Sheff Utd looked the main contenders, they seem to have appeared out of no-where.
flanimal Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 It was all newspaper bullshit. We've never even been officially linked with Lita, we don't even know we were chasing him!
Dan Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 It was all newspaper bullshit. We've never even been officially linked with Lita, we don't even know we were chasing him! Pearson never denied it which tbh i'm pretty sure he would if it wasn't true, doesn't matter anyway really he's not our player and won't be. I can't see us getting a new forward at all tbh.
Daggers Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 Pearson never denied it Sweetie - that's close season stories: newspapers invent non-items in order to fill column inches. "Pearson fails to deny invented story about 'Man from Uranus'" is stock in trade in the print world at this time of year - more fool those who choose to believe it!
MPH Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 posted this in the Kevin phillips thread but i think t needs to be posted here too... i think you are missing the point entirely. we have just come up from the 1st division... and we want to get players who will get us out of this division... we have teams relegated from the prem to compete with who want players who will get them out of this division and clubs already in this division to compete against who want players who will get them out of this division. parachute payments last for three years... that means there are at least 6-9 teams teams who are getting millions more to spend on players this year than we are thats just the relegated teams not even taking into account those who were in and around the play offs last season. we have to compete with them. we are not that attractive an option for for players wanting to play in the prem - be honest , here, if you were wanting to play in the prem would you choose to sign for a team who were just relegated from the prem, just missed out on promotion wether its the play offs or just outside the play offs... or a team freshly promoted from the 1st division? I think a few leicester fans need to be a bit more realistic.... NP and MM re working VERY hard to bring in strikers. we have been linked with alot because we are going for alot but players are choosing other clubs. NP is facing an uphill struggle but he isnt giving up and good for him!
Vlad The Impaler Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 Thank god thats over.. Now we can TAKE OUR TIME in looking for someone who WANTS to play for Leicester City. I'd rather play someone 100% committed than a greedy **** like Lita looking for a nice wage. Good Riddance!

Good Riddance! imagine you were a factory worker.... 4 companies want you to work for them.... one of them offers you a bigger wage than the others... you have NO attachment to either of the others..... are you really going to turn the bigger offer down?

Can't argue with that. Very true!

You can't compare a factory to a football club, a football club you pick 11 from about 30, in a factory you are always guaranteed to be working.
Daggers Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 You can't compare a factory to a football club, a football club you pick 11 from about 30, in a factory you are always guaranteed to be working. I'm guessing you don't have any relations employed by Rover?
flanimal Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 Factory workers/Footballers - no way are they comparable. I understand the principle, and I agree, but when you are earning £15,000 a week you can be afforded the luxory not to just follow money. And anyway, what if in one factory you liked the co workers more? Or the boss was more constructive? Or if the initial job offered more chance of promotion and stepping up to better things?
Daggers Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 And anyway, what if in one factory you liked the co workers more? Or the boss was more constructive? Or if the initial job offered more chance of promotion and stepping up to better things? Or they started putting on Jaffa Cakes at 3pm? Bloody good point.
flanimal Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 It's just that when you're in the wage bracket of tens of thousands a week, money becomes less of a motivating factor.
