Beamish is sitting on the table in our conservatory, eyeing up the robins nest (real one, not the 70's TV prog) in our garden and is on two types of medication, twice daily. He has got a tumour in his chest but the latest x-ray shows it to be slow growing so he will hopefully be around for quite a while. Since the illness he has been transformed from a cat that wanted fuss about three times a day for a couple of minutes to a limpet puss that is so friendly he is forever under my feet. The vets have closed down for a couple of weeks and bu$*ered off on a luxury holiday on the back of my bills being paid, almost as lucrative as being a plumber.

Thanks again for everyone's concern, maybe the collective good wishes helped to pull him through :D

Very pleased to hear it :D

get well soon beamish.. how old is he sollihull??

My old dog (Rottweiler) had a tumour in her stomach, the vet said he could operate and she could live for a few more months, but he said the age she was (13 I think) he didn't think i'd be right to operate but he said it was up to us, we decided the age she was, the pain she seemed to be in, we might as well have her put down.

She shown no signs of the tumour thought, then one day we woke up she was just lying on the floor, not moving, just loads of water leaking out her mouth, she went downhill within days.

Glad to hear Beamish is ok. :D:D:):P Yes it is that stinking two-faced hypocrite Shearer quite obviously kicking out at Lennon.:angry::( <_<

There are also tales of hope, happiness and love in amongst the sadness and death. Just like real life. :D:D:thumbup:;)

I had a kitten called Gizmo who didn't manage to pull through the same sort of illness, he got attacked by a fox and I remember even though it was 6 years ago how bad he was and how he had his fur missing for the operations. Eventually he was put down and he's buried in my garden. He was the cutest little thing in the world I miss him, he wasn't even one when he died :(

Anyway his mum, pip is still with us :) she was only one when she had him the slag  only one of her three has survived, the other two went to my aunts in Berkshire, 'Pugdog' later renamed 'Pugsy' was run over and 'Smudger' still survives but he is the illest little cat i've ever known.

as for being comfortable...well he should be a few hours ago when on one of his now funny walks 2 steps forward 3 sideways then flop-repeat til to buggered to move looks more like my dad of a weekend............ok me anyhooo he was walking along got up a good head of speed i heard a bang looked round to see one very grogie cat and a wall,a wall still very much intact :olol

Beamish had another embollism late last night. He's in the hospital unit and need to ring after 8.30 to find out if he has made it through the night. Vet has said it's not looking good and I half expect them to say I should have him put to sleep when I ring later. Not a good day.

Never having had pets (apparently my sister doesn't count), I don't understand what you're going through, but I'm sure whatever happens will be for the best. :(

Beam has made it through the night and I've been told that he is relatively comfortable in comparison to the pain he was in last night (the howling was horrible) but there is no feeling at all in his back legs due to the blood clot.

Vets will call me when they assess him later.

Oh dear, thats really sad. :( Being a 'cat person' I really do know what you are going through having been brought up around them. I hope Beamish will be ok, it sounded like he had made a full recovery as well.

Spoken to the vet. Beamish is calm and not in pain at the moment but he has no feeling in his hind quarters at all and vet can't find a pulse in his back legs. He also said that the muscles are stiff which is not good. They are going to see what they can do over the next 24 hours or so however he is saying that chances of recovery are 50/50 at best.

Even Murphy, my dog, seems subdued or maybe it's just because it's too hot for her.
