MC Prussian Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 I notice that your opponents on Saturday played their fixture in this Micky Mouse tournament last night. One key aspect of sports science applicable to football that the thicko's who run your game have been desperately slow to acknowledge are recovery periods. Your club has 24 hours less than your oppenents to recover for a game away from home. Without so much as moving a muscle Ipswich Town will have round about a 5% advantage in match fitness over you at kick off time on Saturday. This advantage will grow steadily after the hour mark to the point that you will almost feel a man light. Research has shown that teams at a recovery disadvantage find it more difficult to hold a lead late into a game, claw back a deficit and that they also concede more goals in the final stages . The difference between 3/4 day recovery periods is not as marked as perhaps 2/3 but it is statistically significant. If FIFA recognise this in their tournament planning then so should your FA and Football League. Game of numbers, game of numbers. Never underestimate team morale and matchday form, I could say. Btw, are you a Leicester fan or just another wind-up?
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 What the fook is Ferdinand? Gifted them a goal!
whitlock Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Anyone got a link to listen to the game on the radio?
Basingstoke Fox Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Wow, apparently we have never lost in the first round of this competition!

Basingstoke Fox Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 # 20:26 Free kick awarded for an unfair challenge on Colin Daniel by Dany N'Guessan. Free kick taken by Jon Brain. # 11:23 Unfair challenge on Matt Fryatt by Hamza Bencherif results in a free kick. Direct effort from the free kick comes in from Nicky Adams, save by Jon Brain. Outswinging corner taken right-footed by Nicky Adams from the right by-line. Effort from inside the area by Steve Howard misses to the right of the goal. Nothing for 9 minutes. Now that sounds dull.
