davieG Posted 29 September 2010 Author Posted 29 September 2010 It's not the refs job to bear in mind the position we're in. Fryatt kicked the guy in the ribs, whether it hurt or not is besides the point, it was a sending off offence. The ref could be defended more whole heartedly if he'd booked the Norwich player for deliberate time wasting and by all accounts it wasn't the only instance of it that he let go without any open form of comment or retribution, it's ok proclaiming the letter of the law but they need to be used even handedly and consistently, they're clearly not!

I agree. Just wish Fryatt hadn't given the ref the opportunity to brandish a red card at such a crucial time.
davieG Posted 29 September 2010 Author Posted 29 September 2010 Just to add that after Fryatt scored his first goal a Norwich player deliberately kicked the ball high and into the crowd with no visible comment from the ref so it's hardly surprising that Fryatt was intent on stopping it happening again, it doesn't excuse his kicking but if the ref had been doing his job in the first place the incident wouldn't have arisen.
1964FOX Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 I like the passion Matty displayed, this is most welcome along with the fact that he scored 2 goals but the red mist decended and the ref can't be blamed for what looked to be a deliberate kick on a player on the floor. I can blame the ref for other things though.

I wasn't at the match, I can only go on the clips. According to the radio there were some Norwich players who could have been booked/sent off , if that's true then the ref was in the wrong. It doesn't make Fryatt innocent though.

Agreed but as I said if the ref had clamped down on Norwich's deliberate time wasting after Fryatt's first goal then they would have been trying the same time wasting tactics for his second goal. Fryatt's fully responsible for his actions but that is still poor refereeing so the ref isn't blameless.

I'm not quite sure what you mean about "the incident wouldn't have arisen". You mean the ref should have beaten Barnett to the ball? Your last post crossed with mine DavieG. I follow your point now.

But the incident could and should have been avoided by better refereeing at Fryatt's earlier goal scoring when Norwich's time wasting tactics were clearly evident.
okie fox Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 I honestly don't know how anybody can complain at that red card. Stevie Wonder would have given it. He kicked the guy in the ribs. Barnett got Fryatt sent off. He ran into the goal to wrestle for the ball, there was some handbag stuff, then he runs straight to the referee. He wasn't hurt in the least. Just like the penalty, the ref reacted to Norwich appeals.
the_foxes_till_i_die Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 I honestly don't know how anybody can complain at that red card. Stevie Wonder would have given it. He kicked the guy in the ribs. Are you serious!! He nudged him in the back.
Salieri Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 It's a shame the red card overshadowed the fact he came on and scored twice, pleased for him, and he certainly didn't look like someone who didn't give a shit.
nickelbyfox Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 But the incident could and should have been avoided by better refereeing at Fryatt's earlier goal scoring when Norwich's time wasting tactics were clearly evident. Good point, the referee's ineptness in controlling the situation after the fryatts first goal has resulted in a backlash after Barnett professionally tries to 'piss' fryatt off. Barnett purposely did what he did to at best get someone sent off! What pisses me off the most is it worked, and after scoring two goals and maybe a bit of confidence, Fryatt is out for a couple games! Hope he gets some abuse when play them in the return fixture
m00nie Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 another example of when your down at the bottom things seem to not go your way.. hopefully as we climb the luck will swing our way at some point.. seemed like the linesman was bang in line for the penalty and didnt see him raise his flag to give it... as stated earlier mattys first goal the ball is booted skywards by there player with no consequences.. wasnt at the game and am only going on the clips and the radio andt im sure stringer isnt that biased as when he was saying a few times the ref let things slide for them..
Magictv Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 I can empathise with fryatt, defenders/keepers grabbing the ball to waste time after goals in any game, leicester or anyone else, is something that really ****s me off, it is such blatant time wasting yet *never* punished, similar to the obstruction rule which doesn't seem to be enforced.

MikeyT Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jyxiSQKgB8 Personally think both the penalty and sending off were totally over the top. No way a penalty, and ok Fryatt had a little kick out but bnever a sending off. Very harsh in my opinion.

No way a penalty, and ok Fryatt had a little kick out but bnever a sending off. Very harsh in my opinion. First time I've seen the highlights, and I agree. When the ball's kicked hard towards a player, it is rarely intentional handball. It didn't look like it was there. Two or three times today the S****horpe players tried to claim similar "handballs". Today's referee didn't let himself get conned. Fryatt did kick their guy, not hard, and might have got a yellow on another day.
Uncle Monty Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 Nice one mate, a real asset to foxestalk for your continued commitment to keep showing the goals.
