markbsac Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 thinking of going up to sheffield on tuesday with my son...stopped going to away games due to trouble...whats the feeling now are away games pretty safe to go too...or do we still have to run the guantlet at some grounds...never been to bramell lane.....so your thoughts appretiated.

It's very rare you see trouble nowadays, even Millwall away last season was quite tame.

Not really any trouble unless you go looking for it. Sheff Utd would not be the nicest place to go, but as general fans you would have no prob at all.

Bramell Lane should be fine anyway. Ive been taking my kids for years and never had a problem. EDIT we did get some abuse at Forest a few seasons ago and some big hard man tried to pick a fight with my Son who was 16 at the time.. tosser! Thats the only one though

Sheff Utd would not be the nicest place to go, but as general fans you would have no prob at all. I beg to differ after the last time we were at Bramall Lane, we were all general supporters walking back to the station and we had bottles thrown at us and if I remember rightly a few of the bottles hit people. The Police in Sheffield are nobheads aswell apart from that filthy blonde one.
Ashley Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 Sheffield United on a tuesday night should be alright, however as previous poster have said there was trouble on the way back to the train station.
Floating Fox Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 You'll be ok to take your son Mark.. There was a bit of "trouble" last time we went there but its not the same as the trouble that would have stopped you from going back in the day..
samlcfc Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 if i remember rightly, wasnt one of the buses bricked at this game last time we played
lou Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 Dont wear colours and travel on the coaches if your worried too? Youll be safe as houses then. South Yorkshire police are notoriously shite

Uncle Albert Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 Yeah I was there, we were hardly inconspicuous were we? Yeah of course there was a few clowns but that doesnt mean someone should throw bottles at you, does it? I remember everyone sitting down on the floor at one point.
teblin Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 Should be fine, i had a dodgy experience when i went to watford a couple of years ago, not trouble just 2 or 3 of out fans thinking they were big and clever but were only big nothing else. Had no problem when i went to sheffield last time, other than some idiot waving his shoes at me.(IH)

Koke Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 I had a bit of altercations with Wednesday fans many years ago, but it was nothing major. I ain't had problems in Sheffield ever since. Nor anywhere else for that matter.
lou Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 I'm 'ard as nails. Not as ard as me! Outside right now!!

lou Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 When was your last away game 1976? Must admit that was my first thought maybe hes just a sensitive soul? Or bloody unlucky

Why are you so obsessed with trouble at games? If it's not starting unnecessary threads about a scuffle outside the ground on Saturday, it's now this. If it's a genuine enquiry, and not coincidental, then surely exercising common sense is the order of the day. Even when there was trouble at games, it could be avoided if you took the time and effort.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 Yeah of course there was a few clowns but that doesnt mean someone should throw bottles at you, does it? I remember everyone sitting down on the floor at one point. People were doing that at that pre season friendly away to Luton, in the middle of the road. The police werent best pleased.
Asha Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 I'm 'ard as nails. Not as ard as me! Outside right now!! I could knock you both out. 'Cept I don't hit women.
