leicesterfox86 Posted 9 September 2009 Posted 9 September 2009 Like tadders said - I couldnt really careless about him to be honest. No, me neither. It's not as if he was with us for long or did much of note is it? Even when I saw we had Blackpool this weekend, it took me a while before I even considered Holloway. 1-0 win for me.

Guest Posted 10 September 2009 Posted 10 September 2009 thought the bloke got us relegated ????? No, poor management decisions taken long before IH got us relegated. We had flirted with it in the seasons before he came here. IH may have played a bit part, but he certainly wasn't centre stage.

Disagree IH did get us relegated he didn't put us down near the dead men but he had plenty enough time and resources to get the one extra point we needed to survive, he failed to do so therefore got us relegated.

I wish it was that black and white, to be honest. But making him a scapegoat is wrong, in my opinion. He was just the straw that blah, blah, blah, etc.

He could and should have got that extra point.
James. Posted 10 September 2009 Posted 10 September 2009 Whether it was Holloway's fault or not the irony is that being relegated was probably the best thing that could've happened. If we had stayed up I bet we'd be in a worse position than we are now...

We'll never know but I suspect we'd have carried on with Holloway and if by his own admission the job was too big for him you could be right although how we could be worse off than being relegated I'm not too sure. Anyway it's all in the past, I've no animosity towards him and will treat him the same as I treat any other LCFC failure/deserter with indifference.

Ric Flair Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 When Holloway was our manager we lost against his ex clubs in Plymouth and QPR, let's hope he does the same and loses to us tomorrow. Although, Blackpool have an annoyingly decent record against us and even in recent cup games when they were in the lower leagues, they've always troubled us. It's time Pearson picked his team on players on form not who he feels obliged to play, meaning Dyer for a start should be dropped.
bluebeau Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 IMO it would be best to ignore IH, he tried his best for City but it just wasn't good enough. Relegation has been good for City, we've come through it and are better for it. The good news is, if we hadn't been relegated, IH may have possibly stayed at City, and we wouldn't have captured Big Nige, so rejoice & lets sing out loud.....There's only one Nigel Pearson! City 3 Blackpool 1
C-man Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 He's right the other clowns got us relegated throughout the rest of the season No, my point was that MM didn't pick the team, proved by the playing of Worley against Stoke, pretty sure MM wouldn't have picked him.
clazkel Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Maybe Holloway done us a favour by playing players out of position, playing the wrong players, and bringing on striker after striker so we ended up with 4 strikers on the pitch at times and hardly any midfield, as it meant we were relegated. Last season was great for the players confidence, and the fans loved it. Also the 'shoes off' incident at Sheffield was hilarious before we were rellegated. And the comment he made on radio Leicester after one of the home games (as the fans had given Carl Cort some stick) when he said that Carl Cort got off his death bed to play, that phrase will make me laugh forever. Hume and Fryatt on the wing, great decision making. On a serious note i think Holloway had a huge part in getting relegated but i think he may have done us a favour

Lillehamring Posted 12 September 2009 Posted 12 September 2009 Its got 0-1 to Blackpool written all over it.We dominate possession but create few decent chances. They nick it in stoppage time at the end of the game with a 30 yard screamer from someone i've never heard of. that seems so close to inevitable, that it's kinda scary.
Joe. Posted 12 September 2009 Posted 12 September 2009 We've not beaten them in the league for 43 years now, so I think it's time to end that unwanted little record today. Blackpool are no mugs though, and it definitely won't be an easy walk in the park. If we can find that bit of cutting edge in the final third then I'm confident that we can win, but as we know it's been a big problem all season so far.
Lillehamring Posted 12 September 2009 Posted 12 September 2009 i know it'd never happen but i wouldn't mind seeing this starting 11.... weale hobbs - brown - tunchadams - oakley - wellens - n'guessangallagherfryatt - howard ... not sure what their wingers are like, but i think even without full backs, those three should be able to deal with any cross sent in. well, just my thought for an attacking home line up...
Leicesterboi Posted 12 September 2009 Posted 12 September 2009 Ian Holloway was Lalas on 'Who Lalas?' on Soccer AM. Joker...
Mickey O'Neil Posted 12 September 2009 Posted 12 September 2009 There's been more managers who have pi$$ed me off more than Ollie in recent years. I'll be one of the very few who's muted today. Can't get that 1-0 Blackpool defeat out my head from a couple of years ago. Someone said win 4-0/lose 1-0...I concur!
Joe. Posted 12 September 2009 Posted 12 September 2009 weale hobbs - brown - tunchadams - oakley - wellens - n'guessangallagherfryatt - howard Must admit I do love the look of that, although I can't see it myself.
Lillehamring Posted 12 September 2009 Posted 12 September 2009 Must admit I do love the look of that, although I can't see it myself. yeah, i mean, i don't think there's anything drastically wrong with the team NP is picking, and we do seem to be playing well, but i just feel like the final third is lacking something that will be the difference between mid-table and the playoffs... maybe this formation would solve that problem, without leaving us short defensively... especially as our full back's are seemingly the weaker departments defensively but it would take quite a shift in out look and i'd be very surprised to see it happen, but jeez - it does look sexy doesn't it
