davieG Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Sounds like he's making a better fist of it than he did for us. KARL Oyston has paid tribute to Ian Holloway for taking the club to "a new level". The Seasiders chairman is as thrilled as the supporters with the start to the new season – the best for 25 years. He is quick to point out that it is still early days, but even Oyston admits the new manager has made a terrific start – claiming the squad is the best it has been in his 10 years as chairman. "It has been a great start and I am really happy," he said. "Ian has definitely hit the floor running. He has some good ideas and brought a lot more method and direction. "He has definitely taken us on a level, which is really what we needed. "Ian has a lot of experience and while we can't do the things the way that some of the so-called bigger clubs can, we can try to replicate them and do them as well as the bigger clubs – and certainly better than we have done previously." It was Oyston's decision to appoint Holloway manager at the start of the summer. He was impressed with the interviews given by Bury's Alan Knill, Cambridge's Gary Brabin and Pool number two Steve Thompson, but opted to plump for Holloway. Asked if he had been stepping into the unknown with Holloway, the chairman replied: "No because I think you do know pretty much how things will go. Football is a small world and Ian has been around a bit. "I had the benefit of talking to the other clubs where he had worked. You do find out about people. If somebody is particularly bad or dishonest then word does get out. "What he did appreciate was that I told him on day one I would never interfere in the football side. A lot of chairman he has worked with before have told him which team to pick, which players to recruit and how to play the game. "I would never do that, whether I actually knew anything about football or not. "Ian has been appointed to do a job and we've got to allow him to get on and let him do that job rather than give him lots of different opinions. "He has obviously got a good eye for talent and I think some of the players he has recruited have been really good additions. "I firmly believe this is the best squad and the best football that I've seen here in my time. "I'm not being negative in any way, shape or form but we also have to remember that it is early days. "We are five games into a 46-game season and while it is brilliant I just hope we continue to perform the way we are. "I'm sure we will continue to excite and play good football though because it is the best football I've seen in my time here. We've some very, very good players. "As long as that continues, I think people will continue to have the same buzz that they're currently seems to be around the club and the town in general."

Thats just Holloways excuse for failing here Id suspect (if he did say that to the Blackpool Chairman) Certainly cant see him telling NP what to do

Bert Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Holloway seems to do better with the smaller clubs. Think we'll lose, and Hamuer Bouazza will score.
Katy Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Holloway seems to do better with the smaller clubs. Think we'll lose, and Hamuer Bouazza will score. Yep, bound to. Poor old Holloway gets one over on his bastard ex-employers. God I'm bitter.
Corky Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Yep, bound to. Poor old Holloway gets one over on his bastard ex-employers. God I'm bitter. Couldn't manage it with us though could he?
MC Prussian Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Holloway seems to do better with the smaller clubs. Think we'll lose, and Hamuer Bouazza will score. There's always hope. So, hope.
CosbehFox Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Some Pool fella on 606 the other week reckoned there was a 'quiet revolution' at Blackpool. What a load of cack. There are the same hard working team from previous seasons. Hardly revolution that they have managed one win from five.
suffolk fox Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Think it will be closer thana lot think especially if they sign Isaih Osbourne on loan frm Villa this week? 2-1 Us.

Thats just Holloways excuse for failing here Id suspect (if he did say that to the Blackpool Chairman) Certainly cant see him telling NP what to do just had a mental image of: " Nigel,, can i come in? good good... now about the game saturday... I think its about time you gave Gradel a start... i pay him good money, you know.." To then be followed by Nigel grabbing MM in a headlock and knuckling the top of his head.. " Ok Nigel, i can see this was a mistake coming in here if you can just let me go i'll head back to my office.... Nigel , Please... this is an over reaction.."
ousefox Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 We will either win 4-0 or lose 1-0 in the last minute. You heard it here first
MPH Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 We will either win 4-0 or lose 1-0 in the last minute. You heard it here first its debatable.... there's no doubt about it...
StanSP Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Our right back will be lying dead in the box as they proceed to attack and score. Then we'll use that as an excuse as to why we lost, and not that we played poorly. Anyway, I think we'll win 2-0
Salieri Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Its got 0-1 to Blackpool written all over it. We dominate possession but create few decent chances. They nick it in stoppage time at the end of the game with a 30 yard screamer from someone i've never heard of.
jonthefox Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 i think we`ll `do em`. I`d love that smug bastard look to be wiped off holloheads face. not that i`m one to hold a grudge of course.
