Babylon Posted 10 September 2009 Posted 10 September 2009 Can anyone recommend a solicitor to do the conveyancing on a property purchase? Need to be decent but a decent price too.
jonthefox Posted 10 September 2009 Posted 10 September 2009 i phoned around nearly every one in leicester and then the mrs found an online one (i`ll get you the name in a mo). i was shocked to see it was almost 2/3 cheaper, ..so get trawling. hope this helps.
davieG Posted 10 September 2009 Posted 10 September 2009 I did some research on the web and used www.sourcethemarket.com and got a quote for conveyancing £80k house at approx £800 from eConveyancer Leicester. Don't know if they were any good but they were certainly cheap by all accounts.

Conveyancing is handled by the bottom feeders of the legal profession, don't pay over the odds because they are crap lawers anyway. It might even be easier to do it yourself, just because someone has managed to complete a law degree doesn't mean they are competent.

Raj Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Can anyone recommend a solicitor to do the conveyancing on a property purchase?Need to be decent but a decent price too. I"ve always used Robert Rose on Peacock Lane. Good decent bloke.
Tommy G Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Harvey Ingram, New Walk Leicester Oh and if you need a decent accountant for anything then I recommend Vantis in Oadby.. Shameless plug..
Tabou Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Having worked in the Property market (one-time-estate-agent), the best in Leicester by far is My Home Move Conveyancing. Whilst they are the bottom of the legal proffesion, there are still good ones and very, very poor ones. MHM are very good, cheap, and are available all hours of the day to answer queries etc.
Dr The Singh Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 I recently used Mehta & Co, excellent service and very quick, they charged me around £400, and they sent me a cheque back for funds they didn't use!! PM me, if you want there details!!

Many of them are even incapable of correct spelling.

skinnydipper Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Possibly a typo? Yeah, I'd figured that out
DB11 Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Yeah, I'd figured that out In which case, why say what you did?
skinnydipper Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 In which case, why say what you did? In the post in which he questions competence he misspells a fairly straightforward word and fails to correct it Just a bit of gentle ribbing Don't lose sleep about it

Sir Fynwy Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Think I'll kill myself, can't even use a keyboard.
skinnydipper Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 I think you'll find I'm right A quick look at the OED will confirm Might I suggest the purchase of a lexicon with your first brief fee
skinnydipper Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Think I'll kill myself, can't even use a keyboard. Could be worse Could be a conveyancer
