I did some research on the web and used www.sourcethemarket.com and got a quote for conveyancing £80k house at approx £800 from eConveyancer Leicester.

Don't know if they were any good but they were certainly cheap by all accounts.

Conveyancing is handled by the bottom feeders of the legal profession, don't pay over the odds because they are crap lawers anyway. It might even be easier to do it yourself, just because someone has managed to complete a law degree doesn't mean they are competent.

Can anyone recommend a solicitor to do the conveyancing on a property purchase?

Need to be decent but a decent price too.

I"ve always used Robert Rose on Peacock Lane.

Good decent bloke.

Having worked in the Property market (one-time-estate-agent), the best in Leicester by far is My Home Move Conveyancing.

Whilst they are the bottom of the legal proffesion, there are still good ones and very, very poor ones.

MHM are very good, cheap, and are available all hours of the day to answer queries etc.

I recently used Mehta & Co, excellent service and very quick, they charged me around £400, and they sent me a cheque back for funds they didn't use!! PM me, if you want there details!!

You're right. Many of them are even incapable of correct spelling.

In which case, why say what you did? :dunno:

In the post in which he questions competence he misspells a fairly straightforward word and fails to correct it

Just a bit of gentle ribbing

Don't lose sleep about it

I think you'll find I'm right

A quick look at the OED will confirm

Might I suggest the purchase of a lexicon with your first brief fee ;)

I was taught at school that the extra s was superfluous. State educations....
