Suffolk_fox Posted 3 October 2009 Posted 3 October 2009 Did you see the stare that Keano gave that interviewer when he asked if he was going to stay on?? Jesus, I wanted to hide behind the sofa myself!!!
MPH Posted 3 October 2009 Posted 3 October 2009 so in other words from that interview, he is going to walk away from Ipswich just like he did sunderland. the guy has no backbone and cant stick anything out. and no, absolutely no way will i tell him that to his face!
Fox You Forest Posted 3 October 2009 Posted 3 October 2009 His eyes glazed over, I thought he was going to give him a right hook.
Daggers Posted 4 October 2009 Posted 4 October 2009 Thought he just resembled a punch-drunk boxer, waiting for the ref to tell him it's all over.
Fox92 Posted 4 October 2009 Posted 4 October 2009 Seen that and if I was the interviewer would have been scared! Don't want him to fail, but would love Ipswich to go down and then we can say to McAuley that 'you should have stayed at Leicester haha' (as well as Barnsley).

The way I took it was the fact that he thought it was just a stupid question and he thought the interviewer should STFU.
Guest Bilo Posted 4 October 2009 Posted 4 October 2009 Yet another example of a famous player turning out to be a shit manager who can't handle the pressure. Looked and sounded every inch the petulant child. Bye bye Keane, stick to punditry in future.
lavrentis Posted 4 October 2009 Posted 4 October 2009 This is the Keane stare video. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...own/8289291.stm
dandannieldanok Posted 4 October 2009 Posted 4 October 2009 The way I took it was the fact that he thought it was just a stupid question and he thought the interviewer should STFU. Agreed, I think he's sick of all the questions about his future, I would be in his position.
Jay Posted 4 October 2009 Posted 4 October 2009 It's not that stupid a question as he walked out on his last job when the going got tough and surely a journalist has the right to ask a question just like every Ipswich fan has the right to ask what's going on, Keanes spent very good money in this league and they are sitting at the bottom of the table with no wins until at least the 17 October. Harry Redknapp was asked the same question the other day and he didn't feel the need to react like Keane did
Thracian Posted 4 October 2009 Posted 4 October 2009 This is the Keane stare video.http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...own/8289291.stm I hope the bloke turns it round. I don't like to see people fail in any case but if any of those Ipswich players had the sort of ability and commitment Keane showed for years then they wouldn't be in such a mess. The problem for Keane is in adjusting to the fact that his charges are often in the Championship rather than winning Premiership trophies for a reason. He has to get something out of them rather than being surrounded by people who would get something out of themselves in any case. He has to squeze out results from what he's got rather than what he'd like. Hell didn't Ipswich even have a goalkeeper who walked out on football? You wouldn't want too many like that around the dressing room.

Looked and sounded every inch the petulant child. Bye bye Keane, stick to punditry in future. Forget punditry, I don't want to watch that idiot on my TV. It's a fair question and respect to the interviewer for asking it. Keane just showed what an immature, spoilt prat he is. That sort of reaction might intimidate opposing players on a football pitch, but it isn't going to cut it with football chairman and football supporters. He's made himself look like a complete nob, on top of his embarrassing record this season. I would love it if he was booted out and ended up in the football wilderness. I bet Jim Magilton is having a good laugh though - he did a sound job at Ipswich and was harshly sacked, so in that sense Ipswich are getting what they deserve.

You wouldn't want too many like that around the dressing room. I bet Keane had something to do with it. You hear all these stories about Keane from his time at Sunderland and there must be some truth to them. Keane was a fiery player and a winner on the pitch, but that doesn't mean he'll be a winner off the pitch. His attitude at times is shameful and petulant, like yesterday for example. If he can't handle a simple question without getting the hump then how the hell is he going to handle man management, and dealing with players who have different needs and emotions (something which you always harp on about with your beloved Levi and Gradel). Can you seriously see Keane putting his arm around a player to give him encouragement and support, even when said player is not performing? No. Keane is a one trick pony - he'll slam his players and act like he's better than them, but that will only get you so far. His excellent first two seasons at Sunderland is now a distant memory and Steve Bruce is showing that Sunderland are much better without Keane. Keane's successor at Ipswich will probably do the same.
Thracian Posted 4 October 2009 Posted 4 October 2009 He might not have answered the question for two reasons. a) Because he doesn't know the answer and therefore he'd look foolish if he said one thing and eventually did another. b) He does know and would wish to tell the club first before the media. He told the interviewer could interpret his comment in any way he liked and why not. Quite agree it was right and brave of the reporter to ask. I wish our reporters would be as searching of Pearson at times, even though I imagine he'd prove just as much a stonewall as Keane. It's the only way really unless you're a naturally brilliant, mischievous or manipulative communicator.
davieG Posted 5 October 2009 Posted 5 October 2009 Thrac I've heard you say about certain players being banned for life for dangerous tackles, you can't really defend this can you whatever the provocation. And he admitted in his book that he did it deliberately.

Mindless thug and I'm inclined to agree with Anish that I wouldn't even want to see him as a pundit. His hissy fit at Mick McCarthy at the 2002 World Cup, his disgusting comments about Clive Clarke after he nearly died at Forest and the petulance so perfectly exhibited here make him a very easy man to dislike. Those described as 'characters' of the game usually have a certain likeability about them, a certain charm. Keane has none of that, a thoroughly nasty piece of work who deserves to be cast out by the game.

Edmund Posted 25 October 2009 Posted 25 October 2009 I see Keane wasn't happy on The Football League Show when asked about his future again. I'm sure he will just get asked every week now by the bbc.
Hitesh Posted 25 October 2009 Posted 25 October 2009 I see Keane wasn't happy on The Football League Show when asked about his future again. I'm sure he will just get asked every week now by the bbc. Unless he does a Fergie and stops talking to them!

And he admitted in his book that he did it deliberately. I don't remember ever defending that. If it had been my decision he'd have been banned for life, no question. And he wouldn't have been the only one as I've mentioned on ocasions. But we don't do that. The authorities always do that Lisa thing and "see both sides" of the argument which is media speak for refusing to take responsibility for fear it will backfire on them. So the guy's still there - has been for a long time since - and with a few others the game might have waved goodbye to. Can't see the situation changing now.
Budweiser Posted 25 October 2009 Posted 25 October 2009 Keane's a fooking willy puller. Seriously cannot stand the man and hopefully gets sacked
