Probably have to be the radio then.

Not impressed.

Im sure there will be plenty of (free) streams as normal

This is a bollocks. As if the company think that we will pay that much for a game that has no importance. Would be even more pissed off it had been important.

It won't work. It didn't work when Finland away was PPV on satellite. The situation's much the same except the risk's even higher. Would you honestly trust a company getting you a good enough picture when it will be available all over the internet albeit in Greek and all that.

The odd pub has foreign satellite....so won't be affected at all.

Apparently "warnings" are being sent out across the net to sites that provide this service saying that its illegal to show the game. Like thats gonna stop them!

Thankfully this game is pretty meaningless, although i still would have liked to have watched it. Let's just hope its a monumental disaster in that very few people pay to watch it and/or the quality is shite.

The whole thing leaves a bad taste in the mouth and hopefully its not a sign of things to come.

Having been let down by England over the last 13 years.

All my hope been built up that we may actually win a Major International Competition, or at least make a final.

Only for it to be dashed repeatedly in penalty shoot outs, and a shit defender conceding a late penalty.

So now i'm not really that fussed.

So it's legal to show the Premiership or other games they stream on then?

What the F.A/Whoever came up with the plan of charging for an England game (Any game) on the internet are doing should be illegal.

I hope and think it probably will fail big time, obviously some prats are going to pay for it but can't see many.

Not only the fact they are charging for it on the internet, Have they even though of the people who don't have computer or internet and don't know how to use computers or internet?

Past history counts for nothing. We're approaching a major championship in the best shape that i can ever remember. I'm always optimistic about Englands chances, but this time i think we really do have an excellent chance of becoming World champions.

My first proper memories were from the World Cup in 1986. It's been a long time since then but i'll always believe that i'll see us crowned World champions at least at some point in my lifetime!

lol lol lol lol

Thank fu ck I'm not a fan. I'd be absolutely livid.

As much as I dislike the English national team, I do think all of their games should be available on free-to-air TV, it's a travesty that they aren't.

Rio Ferdinand is a complete wang-merchant. Audacious remarks, but sadly that appears to be the mentality of the national side and the governing bodies.

I am optimistic about it again but am cautious at the same time.

I've got my hopes up high in past competitions, and then been devastated when we lose.

Can remember when i was 7 and we went out to Argentina and i was well sad, and was saying to my mum whens the next world cup?

You will have to wait another 4 years i'm afraid.

Which being over half my life at the time, i was devastated i had to wait so long.

Then when the time finally came we lead against Brazil, i got very excited, and then we still lost.

Then 4 more years pass, and revenge against Portugal would have been great, i was really up for the game, and we lost on penalties again.

And now it's nearly 2010, and i'm cautious.

It's a good job that we're already through because if we weren't I'd want to watch it, and probably wouldn't be able to. Will perhaps just catch the highlights to be fair, maybe not even them, would much prefer to spend the day with my good lady to be honest.

Some pubs will have it on though, I guess.

Apparently no highlights package has been agreed! (yet)

By they way this is a Ukranian FA thing. Each football association has the right to sell the rights to their home matches to whomever they want, unless UEFA make some rule changes then I expect to see this sort of thing happen more often.

May be on actual crack but I'm sure I read that Odeon cinemas are showing the game. :dunno:

If so, I'm going to the one near Morrison's for this clash.

EDIT: No I won't, they're only showing it at eleven cinemas. Leicester isn't one of them but Derby and Lincoln are. Most dissatisfied, greedy Ukrainian bastids. They've made me racist!

I'm more annoyed with the fact that none of our TV companies, who make ridiculous profits through shows like the X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing alone, couldn't be arsed to stump up the cash to give people the opportunity to watch the national team play what is our national sport. That for me is the minimum we should expect.

The Ukrainian FA sold the rights to the highest bidder, can't blame for them for that, but the highest bidder really should have been a British TV station and not an internet site. A dead rubber it may be for England, but friendlies are even more meaningless yet millions still tune in. The epic fail is from our own TV stations and that is where the ire should really be directed.

I completely agree, the fact the Ukrainian FA has just thought about money irritates me, although knowing the state of affairs in Ukraine I completely understand it. Money is a big thing there.

I just want to be able to watch the most important fooking match in the entire group!

And as for £11.99, it just takes the piss doesn't it.

Wait, does Part Of The Crowd have some kind of Ukrainian heritage? Maybe he should mention it more often so we can clear this matter up once and for all.

It's £8 at the Odeon in Wimbledon, yet £8.30 in the one in Lincoln. Why is Lincolnshire more expensive than London?

Patriotism goes a long way these days. I get overexcited when it comes up in conversation.

How is having it on a pay tv channel that you can only get as part of a £45 a month package giving people an opportunity to watch it, whearas having it on a 5 quid for the match internet stream isn't?!

Don't agree with either of them but can't really understand the fuss as they both seem as bad each other, and unless you're a two bit disabled you can just watch it on a free internet stream anyway.

National matches should be available to all, not on pay per view or subscription channels, that is the way it is in other countries. We just prefer to go for the money orientated route. If it were sold to ITV people may complain about the quality of coverage but it'd be available on free tv, would gain more viewers which in turn would make more money as ITV is a commercial station, therefore they'd be able to stump up more money for the package anyway.

It's just a sad state of affairs that you have to pay subscriptions and one off pay per view events to watch the national team.

I was thinking more along the lines of the BBC or ITV, hence my mentioning of those 'reality' shows, but I take your point about Sky, ESPN etc being as bad as the PPV internet streaming. Having said that though, even if Sky had bought the rights, we could have watched the game in the pub without having to pay for anything but the drinks. Paying a fiver to watch the game hunched over my laptop isn't my idea of a good deal.

If Setanta were able to make a deal to show England away games before they went tits up, then surely another terrestrial or satellite company could have done the same and avoided this ridiculous situation. Let's hope that this whole thing ****s up royally and we never have to speak about such a stupid idea again.
