It's £8 at the Odeon in Wimbledon, yet £8.30 in the one in Lincoln. Why is Lincolnshire more expensive than London?

Because Lincolnshire only discovered the witchcraft of moving pictures recently. I believe they're known as talkies up that way. :D

yeah if you have a bet365 account you can watch it there.

i wont bother.

Does it cost anything to join?

Have you been reading Pratchett? I've just read 'Moving Pictures', what a book!

You have to have a funded account, which I'm presuming means a substantial deposit or linked direct to a bank account so the money to bet is always available. I've not been able to find their definition of 'funded'

England’s final away fixture in the 2010 World Cup Qualifying campaign sees Fabio Capello’s men travel to Ukraine and, for the first time, you can watch all the action live on your PC with bet365.

The game will not be shown anywhere on UK television but bet365 will be Live Streaming the match absolutely free for all customers with a funded account, so you can still follow England on the road to South Africa.

I had the same problem. If it was the case of just putting in £5/£10 which I could spend later I'd do it.

lol

Patriotism goes a long way these days. I get overexcited when it comes up in conversation.

lol

To be honest I'd probably do exactly the same

I presume the projectors will be lit by flame, electricity hasn't made it over the border yet.

There is going to be a limit to viewers. A maximum of 1 million, it just gets better and better

Telegraph reveals more shitty planning

I think it's more clever marketing than shitty planning. They won't reach 1m viewers but want to squeeze subscriptions of a few more muppets fast by making it seem like they might miss out if they hang around and see if they actually feel like watching it on Saturday.

I've been told:

Sorry DavieG just had email saying they want £10 deposit,so they are trying to rip off aswell, unless just made a deposit then withdrew after the game.

probably been asked but is there a highlights show on TV after the game?

Won't be paying to watch a game that has very little importance

I think the upsetting thing about this is very few people have a computer linked to a massive monitor/tv in their living room. I know my local certainly doesn't. Watching international football on the TV is all about having a few mates round, a few bevvies and slobbing on the sofa for a couple of hours, not sitting in your bedroom/office/spare-room squinting at a screen, constantly waiting for your broadband to catch up (and can you imagine just how slow your broadband is gonna be if the millions they want DO tune in? Unless you have cable you'd be screwed!)

Also I don't see there being any highlights show either? What the hell are the FA playing at? :@

This internet company/whoever is providing this game over the net and whoever has bought the rights to this game obviously stumped up the most money to the F.A, What I don't understand is surely the company who is doing this doesn't think they'll make a huge profit out of this? :dunno:

As I said earlier in the thread some prats will pay for it but they won't be making a huge profit if any profit I don't think. (I hope anyway, I hope they fail badly and do a runner with whatever money they do owe the F.A and the F.A are left out of pocket. Money grabbing coonts)

What you don't understand, even though it's been said many times it's got nothing to do with the FA!

A Mirror Blog

Have you wondered why you have not seen much criticism of England's World Cup qualifier in the Ukraine only being shown on the internet?

I'll tell you why. Because the majority of national newspapers are selling it through their own websites for a nice tidy little profit with no hassle.

Trouble is, if you've ever used the BBC iPlayer then you've either got the best broadband service ever and a state-of-the-art laptop or, like me, live streaming is more like live stop starting.

England's World Cup game on the internet the future? Do me a favour. That may be the way the game is heading but we're simply not ready for it yet.

Rewind a few years and it's like bringing out microwave chips before microwaves were invented. They're great now if you like that sort of thing but would be pretty pointless before microwaves.

You won't be able to watch the game in the pub with your mates and the best for many people is to be crouched round a laptop hoping for it to run smoothly.

And you get to pay up to £11.99 for the privilege.

This is not the FA's fault. The rights were bought for £5.5million by sports agency Kentaro, sold to Setanta and then when, the digital broadcaster went bust, were up for grabs again.

With England already qualified, there were no takers so here we are with the game being shown live on the web only.

There's no way I'd buy it if I wasn't already lucky enough to be sent to cover the game in Dnipropetrovsk. (Wish me luck in getting a taxi to and from there.)

Furthermore, to add insult to injury, Fabio Capello will have to play a full strength team because FIFA want to see fair play in the battle between Ukraine and Croatia for second place in the Group.

Don't get me wrong, I want to see England win the game. But I'd also enjoy seeing one or two experiments being made.

Gabby Agbonlahor, for example, up front. Gary Cahill in central defence. They're both in the squad so maybe they'll get a chance. I doubt it.

But I can't understand why Darren Bent doesn't get a chance. He is a seriously under-rated player. He is so prolific in the Premier League and can play the lone striker role. He deserves a chance.

Sadly, it's been taken out of Fabio's hands. The directive has been sent from FIFA to the FA, telling them: Pick your best team. Bearing in mind, England are bidding for the 2018 World Cup, they can't afford to do anything wrong.

What a shame then that FIFA who are all to quick to look after countries like Croatia and Ukraine don't step in to look after the average football fan.

The Government too. I don't believe that every competitive England game should be part of the "crown jewels" protected games to only be shown on terrestial TV.

But if the Government can get involved to that level then why can't they step in and ensure that games are at least shown on the box rather than just a laptop.

There are millions of people in this country without a computer. My mum and dad for a start. I bought my beloved mum a digital camera for her birthday and it's like I had told her that the moon is in fact made of cheese. It's not her fault. It's just a different generation.

Yes, football is moving forward and games on the internet are the future. I mean, we're kidding ourselves if we don't think millions illegally watch games on the internet every weekend or go to pubs with dodgy Scandanavian feeds.

But until technology is up to date in the majority of homes it's a disgrace that this has been allowed to happen.

I'm rather proud of the fact that the Daily Mirror is not showing the game on its website. It's not raking in the ten per cent of every £11.99 that is paid. That's the deal.

There has also been a one million limit on the number of subscribers to ensure the feed and the internet can cope with demand.

To be honest, they should not have bothered. I bet it won't get close to one million.

Once again, fans are being taken for a ride. And one day, when it's far too late, football will realise that they can't be taken for granted.

How do you work that one out?

The FA have no say in the rights for away games. It is the Ukrainian FA that sorts out the TV deal for their home games.

No way is the future of the game "internet viewing" I certainly would stop watching the game, and a bet a fair few others would too. It's pathetic that these people even think this.

Why? In 5/10 years time you'll be able to wirelessly watch your laptop through your TV screen with the flick of a switch. How would it really be any different to paying for it through BSkyB?

Just a personal opinion if that's ok with you?

The difference is that you're having to pay to watch a match on top of your SKY subscription. All England matches should be on terrestrial TV, and that goes for Football, Rugby, Cricket....

I agree about the England thing, I personally don't think there should be any pay telly for football but that's another issue and never gunna happen anyway.

Wasn't talking about England though, I was talking about internet streams joining or replacing the traditional tv broadcast for football in general. I just think it's an inevitability and don't really see how it will make too much of a difference once the technology is there.

Breaking BSkyB's monoply would seem like a pro for me rather than a con. Although admittedly there would be a transition period where someone wanting to watch every single football match would be shelling out more than they are now, in the long run I think costs would come down though.

The more likely scenario though is that BSkyB will use their current economic advantage to dominate any technological advances that do take place so in ten years time I'm sure we'll be watching a lot more football on the internet but it'll probably by through Sky anyway.

I'm not too bothered about it being club football, because that's already happened. What I meant was, if this is the way for international football, then I wouldn't watch.

I will be watching through a foreign satellite , no english commentary though

Still can't believe people are throwing a bit of a fit when nearly 40% of boozers have foreign satellite coverage now. Foresters for one...
