Ford Super Sunday Posted 8 October 2009 Posted 8 October 2009 I have been thinking about this, and it is certainly something I intend to ask the club in the future. Yesterday, my DVD from the Preston North End club shop arrived. It is of the entire 90 minutes of the home game just gone, with commentary from the local radio station (Callum Davidson Co-Comm) The DVD cost me £5.99, (£4.99 and £1 delivery) After trudging through club shops, I found that Peterborough also do this, and I ordered the recent home game with them, which is on its way, again, at a cost of £5, but this time fooking £3.95 delivery. I was just wondering if you thought the club doing this was a good idea. Would any of you purchase the games if they were bought out individually on DVD. Of course the danger of people not going and waiting for the DVD to come out, but then you can just release the match a week or two weeks after the game has taken place. Certainly i'd buy the matches, win, lose or draw. Some clubs do it differently, PNE only release games they win, while Peterborough have released all games, win, lose or draw. There's something about watching it too, it's different to a normal TV game, there's only one camera used, and no replays, it really is as raw as you get for a DVD. Anyway, it was just a wondering, just wanted to know what other people felt about the prospect of being able to have games we won (or even every game) on DVD for sale on the club site or club shop.
Shrenchel Posted 8 October 2009 Posted 8 October 2009 I'd probably very occasionally buy one of a really cracking game but to be honest I'd rather slip it to my gran than waste 90 mins of my free time watching the Preston game again, let alone wax my wages on it. I think it would be worth the club doing though. Must be pretty inexpensive to knock up. My mate worked in the Bristol Rovers club shop for a bit, they do a DVD of every home game and he said even for shit games when they got beat, they shifted more DVDs than you'd expect. Were popular with overseas fans apparently which makes sense I guess.
Bluefoxtim Posted 8 October 2009 Posted 8 October 2009 They make the DVD for the post-match analysis purposes etc so yeah, just making a few extra copies wouldn't hurt.

Shrenchel Posted 8 October 2009 Posted 8 October 2009 Tbf Shrenel's gran is a damn good shag. Yeah, once you've wiped all the soil out of her crevices it's quite a ride.
Webbo Posted 8 October 2009 Posted 8 October 2009 Yeah, once you've wiped all the soil out of her crevices it's quite a ride. Oh, mister hoity toity,so you wipe them first do you?
lou Posted 8 October 2009 Posted 8 October 2009 Tbf Shrenel's gran is a damn good shag. I now have a picture of you in my mind looking like the Gran-loving lad in Little Britain!
Asha Posted 8 October 2009 Posted 8 October 2009 As has been said, Leeds home, or Southend away, yeah. But I wouldn't buy them on a regular basis, definitely not. Most of the games were shit enough the first time round
samjohnson Posted 8 October 2009 Posted 8 October 2009 If i miss a game (like Derby and Palace this season ) i would buy them... Also if its a damn good game (something like Peterborough [h] last season)
Joe. Posted 8 October 2009 Posted 8 October 2009 I'd say it's a bit sad to buy every match DVD if they're £5 each time, but I'd probably pay for the decent games if they were available. Got to be worth doing it from the club's perspective though surely?
Webbo Posted 8 October 2009 Posted 8 October 2009 I now have a picture of you in my mind looking like the Gran-loving lad in Little Britain! Nothing wrong with a bit of geriatric luvin. When they take their teeth out it's like the real thing.

Got to be worth doing it from the club's perspective though surely? Then i'd be one sad fecker. I echo many of the sentiments in the thread (except smashing my granny, may she rest in peace) if it was a huge game, then yes, it'd be brilliant. I also think it could cater for those who can't go genuinely. My dad has to work on match days now, so he cant go.. its especially good for him to watch the PNE game yesterday evening. I will certainly suggest it, I think even a trial at least, maybe print 200 or so... they dont need to go mad and print 10,000 do they, though they might be stupid enough to think so.
AmericanScott Posted 8 October 2009 Posted 8 October 2009 It's a good idea. Like most of you, i'd buy one if it was a cracking game. I'm sure my uncle and cousin in America would love to buy them also.
FoxyLady85 Posted 8 October 2009 Posted 8 October 2009 I would buy them as I am unable to attend matched it would be good to see games on DVD's or even highlights. It'll be better than looking at the football website to see the goals.

I have "The Finals" box set ('94 and '96 Play-off finals and '97 and 2000 League Cup finals) which was on offer for £15 in the club shop at one point. I wouldn't just buy a regular game though. Balls to that.
MC Prussian Posted 8 October 2009 Posted 8 October 2009 Not too sure about this - hardly every game does warrant a release on DVD. Besides, I'd rather watch it in real life and have a true matchday experience than re-living some drab games on my telly, unless they're HD-quality. The recent picture quality hasn't not yet lived up to current technology. The only exception to this rule that I can see are playoff games, in particular the playoff final - because it's "make it or break it".
lavrentis Posted 8 October 2009 Posted 8 October 2009 Highlights packages on the much promoted "Player" would do me fine tbh
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 8 October 2009 Posted 8 October 2009 Think they are all rather pointless to be honsest. Would rather just have the highlights on with different camera angles used.
Guest Bilo Posted 8 October 2009 Posted 8 October 2009 Nothing wrong with a bit of geriatric luvin. When they take their teeth out it's like the real thing. Oh yeah! Joking aside, I don't think the demand would be there to make it worth ithe club's while. Unless we arseraped Forest 4-0 at the City Ground I think a DVD of a bog standard league game would be lucky to sell dozens, never mind hundreds.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 9 October 2009 Posted 9 October 2009 YES! i wouldn't buy every game but considering i get to see about 4 games a year as it is if i could get my hand on a few extra matches at a resonable price i would definetly buy a few.
Scow Posted 11 October 2009 Posted 11 October 2009 For this to survive on a commercial basis, it would probably be best to produce it on games we do favourably in results wise. I can't see many fans wanting to order a miserable 2-1 home defeat to Preston on DVD to 'enjoy' over and over again.
