Summer Targets Thread, worth a dabble?

Recommended Posts

Apparently, Thornton was released (along with Whitley) because of his supposed drinking habits. He is supposed to have a massive ego to boot.

It's not as if we need him anyway, if we need any central midfielder it is someone in the Neil Lennon mould.

Personally I thing Campbell Ryce or McAnuff should be pursued, we need some pace and trickery on the wing, especially after reading the moan in thread where CL indicated he likes one side to be narrower thatn the other.

It would be useful to loan a few players for next year from teams such as Chelski with big squad sizes and players who dont play week in week out?

Such as kieran richardson from manchester, felipe oliveria from chelski, lenny pigedly, . James Milner on loan, Loads more names

Neil Mellor signing for us?

David Unsworth

Lunt and Vaughan from Crewe

Eustace and Brammer - stoke

Dan Orasnjak (Bristol City)

Andy Taylor (exeter),

Levein has aid he doesn't like loaning players as he gets frsutrated at training a player up only to see them go. I know we have got Kenton and Moore in this season but that is more out of necessity than anything, he even said no to Ragers whenthey offered Stephen Hughes out on loan to us!

CL only wants loans if he's a mind to sign them otherwise he sees it as developing other club's players and we have enough of our own to develop

Norwich City manager Nigel Worthington has told Paul McVeigh that he is free to leave Carrow Road at the end of the season.

The 27-year-old Northern Ireland international striker still has a year to run on his current contract.

"Paul McVeigh has been made available for transfer," Worthington told the East Anglian Daily Times.

"At this stage in Paul's career he needs to be playing first-team football regularly - something that we can't promise him here. He needs a fresh challenge."

McVeigh, who moved to Carrow Road on a free transfer from Tottenham five years ago, has made over 150 league appearances for the club, but has struggled to make the starting line-up in the Premiership this season.

He has spent most of the season on the substitute's bench, although he did score a memorable goal in the 2-1 defeat at Manchester United in August.

Fellow Ulsterman Phil Mulyrne was also recently told his future lay away from Carrow Road.

Bristol City have placed midfielder Tommy Doherty on the transfer list.

City want a 'significant fee' for the Northern Ireland international.

City chairman Steve Lansdown told his club's official website: "We are facing another season in Coca-Cola League One and we have to be realistic.

"Tommy is a player with a value in the transfer market and we want to test what that value might be.

"Tommy wants to play at a higher level and if the right sort of offer comes along he may well fulfil that ambition."

He added: "From his own point of view it is probably a good time to move on. Players can spend too long at one club and sometimes a switch can refresh them and boost their careers.

"Queens Park Rangers wanted to take him on loan until the end of the season when they inquired. We didn't want to let Tommy go on that basis because it was felt he might help us win promotion."

City player-manager Brian Tinnion said: "I want to bring in some new faces this summer and obviously it will help if we can generate money through a sale. That's the main reason for Tommy's name being circulated.

"Cole Skuse has been a revelation in midfield and at the back since being introduced into the side. And, with Scott Brown and Bradley Orr as well, we have some good youngsters who will challenge for central midfield places next season."

i dunno much about him is he worth making a bid for ?

Ive seen him play quite a few times and looked an important part of Bristol City's first team. He used to be their captain but since Tinnion has taken over a few of the more established names seem to have done less well. Doubt we'll get him as Levein has Kisnorbo coming in so spending much on another holding midfielder seems unrealistic.

Plays for Huddersfield and scored 26 goals last year. The ex polish under 21 year old would be good in this division.

Also Leroy Leta from Bristol City. who used to play for Chelsea academy scored same amount of goals last year.

22 year old Zavier Teague has been interested in signing for Leiceester City from the Carribean nation Congo. The 22 year old defender and emergency striker was picked up by scout Akhil Valjee, LCFC's official Carribean scout.

The youngster is likely to replace the loss of Nikos Dabizdas and maybe the loss of Matt Heath. He can also play striker as well, scoring 17 goals in his first season at FC Rastaman.

Hopefully leicester can sign the youngster on an undislosed fee of around £10,000.
