Wingbacks have had thier day , opposition play with 2 quick forward thinking wide men then your fooked

As you say, playing against a 3-5-2 system is relatively easy, 'fix' the central defenders by pushing a couple of men forward, then over load down either flank. Every decent team knows how to do that!

I'd love to see Adams given a chance, the lad can't possibly do anymore, he's impressed on all his sub appearances and played well in his only start in the cup, in which he also scored. He's a better RM than bloody Oakley or N'Guessan!!

Thats because oakley should be in the middle,he perhaps didnt play is best on tuesday but he doesnt desrve to be dropped

:crylaugh: Hardly an offensive pm, the only slightly offensive words were smarmy arsehole which you seem to have realised thats what you sounded like

And what are you talking about, Bert has said can't be arsed before, i was hardly comparing myself with him.

You really love putting people down with your clear good use of words and writing don't you.

Well done sir

But i still stand by my original point, which is Steve Howard should be dropped for the next match at least. :D

And although i do post on here sometimes to get a reaction and wind people up, most of what i post is just light-hearted banter, and i get plenty of that from others on here. And yes i sometimes bump my optimeter poll threads to get more votes, theres no harm in that.

And i seem to have got a great reaction out of you, you still haven't posted the team in this thread, IF Howard is playing alongside Waghorn and Gallagher then perhaps it would work, as the bit of pace from Waghorn could lead to him getting too a few more Howard flick ons, and perhaps Howard COULD hold the ball up for Waghorn to make a run, then try and pass to him.

Perhaps the lack of pace from Fryatt is the reason for us not getting possession.

But i would still like to see us play flowing attacking football along the floor, and Howard doesn't come into that.

And he's shit :P

Howard is not shit otherwise pearson wouldnt pick him would he,and he is the manager not you,and i would rather trust his judgement rather than yours :D

I'm sure wing backs will come back into fashion at some point, but its not going to be this moment where most teams play with two wide forwards and a single central striker. The currently fashionable 4-5-1/4-3-3 is the perfect formation to combat the 3-5-2 because it exposes the weakness where there are no full backs and it doesn't get outnumbered in the midfield.

That team is of course, if Davids signs.

If he doesnt, then I'd like to see this:

why?

Probably because he's not played professional footy for over a year?! And it's generally better not to throw new people into big games from the off anyway.

Can I just say to those anticipating diamond formations when/if Davids signs - it's a shite tactic and gets worked out very quickly almost always.

iwas think more the fact that if he does sign he'll probably be on the bench on monday and there would be a significant chance that he got the last 5 minutes or so because this has the wiff of an MM signing so he'll probably wield his power of pearson to try and make sure he plays. besides this signing seems to be about boosting the clubs profile so surely the best way to do that would be by playing him in a televised game :dunno:

Reading's a big game?

yeah didn't you realise? after all reading are even more MASSIVE than leeds were last year.

If he were to sign, I think he'll wait till after mondays game to announce.

Lose its a boost, win it's a boost.......

Also a brief debut in front of the sky camera's on a friday night makes more financial sense in terms of exposure.

What am I on about? Edgar Davids, at Leicester?

maddog, you keep going on about De Vries and Hammond having much better stats than Howard. Honestly, could you say that both those players would've been more influential than Howard last season?

I agree Howard's struggling, but I can see why Pearson picks him- possibly based on past experience, but he has dropped him before and I'm sure will continue to do so.

No he did well last season. But sadly he's out of his depth now in this division now.

Matty Fryatt scored 2 goals in 30 appearences last time out in the Championship, i would be surprised if Howard beats that.

And don't start talking about arial ability, he's only got 2 assists this season and 0 goals.

however he is still viewed as an aireal threat by the oppostion which provides chances for the rest of the team because the oppostion defenders tend to double or triple up on him providing space for players like fryatt, waghorn, gallagher, n'guessan etc. to exploit. With his role in the team it isn't all about goals and direct assists.

Quite agree mate

I sort of agree but at the end of the day he has become ineffective over the last few games. The main problem I have with him is the fact the whole team just hoof it up to him when he is on the pitch (e.g. Derby and 1st half vs palace) We are a far better side when we play across the floor, so Howard isn't really required imo, Kermo would be a better option as he is more mobile and probably got a better eye for goal.
