FatboyATmFC Posted 7 November 2009 Posted 7 November 2009 Hello Foxs! I thought some of you may be interested in the news that Jamie Lawrence has taken his first job in managment at Ashford Town Middlesex FC in the Ryman Premier League. Ashford are a small family club near Heathrow airport who over the last few years have been mixing it with some of the "big" boys of non-league in the ryman premiership. If you would like to wish Jamie luck, feel free to do so on our forum here: http://ashfordtownmiddlesexfc.com/newforum/ Also Jamie speaks about his appointment on our website here: http://www.ashfordtownmiddlesexfc.com/ Many thanks for your time and good luck for the rest of the season. Fatboy
jonthefox Posted 7 November 2009 Posted 7 November 2009 "he`s got a piiiiiineapple on his head". ah, the memorys. good luck jamie.
Webbo Posted 7 November 2009 Posted 7 November 2009 "he`s got a piiiiiineapple on his head".ah, the memorys. good luck jamie. I remember at a service station on the way to the Leicester/ Derby play off final there was a lad who'd cut the top off a pineapple and tied it to the top of his head. We were all singing that to him.
lou Posted 7 November 2009 Posted 7 November 2009 My best memory of Jamie is the team Xmas photo.... they did a pic for the programme and JL had his todger on full view! Some hasty editing and all of a sudden its a bottle of beer hes holding! Class
StanSP Posted 7 November 2009 Posted 7 November 2009 Good luck to him If I get time I might go down to see a few games as it is easy to get to from my uni
lildave3 Posted 7 November 2009 Posted 7 November 2009 Sign him up Pearson. A backroom setup containing Chris Powell and Jamie Lawrence is something I want.
FatboyATmFC Posted 7 November 2009 Author Posted 7 November 2009 FF, That would be great . You will be very welcome . What Uni? We haven't got a home game for a while, but when we do i will post a few up. £9 entry on the door. Bar with sky sports, Tea bar in the ground and the best burgers in non-league! We even have hot running water in the toilets!!

FatboyATmFC Posted 7 November 2009 Author Posted 7 November 2009 I think thats Neil Commings? Also, i think a couple of lads from Brunel joined us this year. Ike chomber...something (very long name) and Mal Bulley, but i might be wrong Brunel is a stones throw away, If you could get 5 mates to come with you, i might be able to get discounted tickets for you all . Its a smashing little club and we are over the moon that Jamie has joined. We had 40 applicants for the job including a few other ex pro's, so that shows we are well thought of in NL circles.
Captain... Posted 7 November 2009 Posted 7 November 2009 Was it Jamie Lawrence that knocked himself unconcious scoring a diving header? I was a big fan of his, a true 100%er, he always gave everything. Has anyone read his autobiography "from prison to the premiership"? For once a football biography with an actual story to tell. I bet it's sold a lot less than most of the identikit biogs by current players.

Yeah that name rings a bell actually. I'm first year so I don't know many of the team members...only the guys I met when I went for the trials . But I'll see what my mates are doing once you tell us the home fixture dates as that sounds great mate

Alexikokopops Posted 7 November 2009 Posted 7 November 2009 I live 20 minutes away in Twickenham so I might pop along to a game if I get the chance. HE'S GOT A PINEAPPLE ON HIS HEAD
FatboyATmFC Posted 7 November 2009 Author Posted 7 November 2009 Jamie got off to a flyer with a 2-1 win away. sporting a suit with a pink shirt and tie! Its gonna be one hell of a ride! You will be made most welcome, Alex!
Finnegan Posted 7 November 2009 Posted 7 November 2009 Was it Jamie Lawrence that knocked himself unconcious scoring a diving header? Yes
MauriceJobson Posted 7 November 2009 Posted 7 November 2009 Also remember him taking an almighty boot to the head from Alan Kimble(?) in winning the free kick that Grayson scored from in the League Cup semi at Wimbledon. He played an important part as our small squad re-established theirselves back in the premier in 96-97 turning out in just about every position during that first season. Good luck Jamie.
iancognito Posted 7 November 2009 Posted 7 November 2009 Classic example of a player who, in any other team would have fell by the wayside and been farmed out on loan to the lower leagues but under O'Neill knuckled down and made something of himself a bit like Grayson and Savage in the same era. Maybe not a legend but he'd get a warm welcome down at the Way anytime. I'm sure the pineapple on his head song also had the second verse of He's got a shotgun in his pants too

Captain... Posted 8 November 2009 Posted 8 November 2009 Always loved him for that, real commitment I don't think he realised he'd scored until he was being stretchered off, and he was adamant he could come back on and play despite being unconscious for a minute or so. What he lacked in skill he always made up for in enthusiasm good luck to him as a manager.
FatboyATmFC Posted 16 November 2009 Author Posted 16 November 2009 Jamie picks his side for the first home game under his charge tomorrow night v's Aveley FC. with quite a few 1st teamers coming back from injury/bans we should get a better idea as to how he will want to play. word at the club is that hes working hard already!

Polish war memorial , A312 towards Hounslow then right at the A30 towards Staines and your there. At home V Cray tomorrow and V's Tonbridge on 28th More info here and Jamie speaks! http://www.ashfordtownmiddlesexfc.com/ He signed a player in the week, but the guy missed training, so he gave him the boot.
