Lillehamring Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 The old ones are not the problem in the days of sk2 and sk3 at filbert st we had plenty of songs. The young city fans are boring and dont have the imagination to come up with any songs. you can't just blame the young fans but you're right about the lack of songs...on tuesday despite having travel so far to watch such a pile of crap, it wasn't until the kop started singing rightsideleftside that i wanted to leave...
Karljohn Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 Appears that the defeat yesterday was the final nail in the coffin for Laws
Ultra Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 Good result.Very average performance against a poor Wednesday side. This. Despite what some of the happy-clappies might tell you on here, we won't be pushing for the Champions League any time soon. Why is the atmosphere so poor at the Walkers when we are winning? It was terrible today with the Wednesday fans out singing city for most of the game. If players can be forgiven so easily after THREE bad games in a row, I don't see why fans shouldn't be after one off-day. I've also been to Hillsborough when home fans have been equally as mute during victories over us. NP needs to be given some serious cash in Jan for us to challenge for a top 6 finish. Understatement. This side still has too many weak links for quality sides to exploit.
Vlad The Impaler Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 Am extremely pleased with yesterdays result, gutted I couldn't make it though <_< Did Oakley look ok on the wing then?
marbelladave Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 Remarkable thread, the game was clearly of little interest to any one, half the posts are about Wednesday and their fans..... For anyone actually interested in the game here are my views, a little late as I stayed over. First of all, kudos to Pearson for getting the players to show some fight and commitment. More effort all round than we have seen for several weeks, also the decision to release King from his normal defensive duties and get forward helped tremendously.... Other wise (as this thread shows) there was very little to get exited about. Wednesday were woeful, any half decent side would have stuffed them and what we managed was barely par for the course. The move back to basics worked on the day, but I really can't see us getting anywhere if we continue to play like that. For me it was simply a step backwards, worryingly so as Pearson seems devoid of any ideas that will actually take us forward. Still 3 points and all that.........
Unit Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 Laws has been sacked. Maybe they expected a win?
Fox in a Box Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 I think he knew it was coming.... sacked in the morning yer getting sacked in the morning!!!
CorkerSWFC Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 Yep Laws has been sacked, Darren Ferguson looks like he might be on the way to Hillsborough, let's hope he can get a few decent loanees of his dad in January .
Budweiser Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 Yep Laws has been sacked, Darren Ferguson looks like he might be on the way to Hillsborough, let's hope he can get a few decent loanees of his dad in January . Ferguson would be quality imo. He'd be good for you lot.
maddog Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 3-0, good result, but it was against an awful Wednesday side. Crucial 3 points for us, buts lets see how we get on at Cardiff and Doncaster in next few games. Sheffield United have crept up the table again within a few points of us with 4 wins and 2 draws in their previous 6 games, so they will be no pushovers either. Doncaster have one of the best home forms in the League only losing 1 game there in 11, Cardiff are hit and miss, they could thrash us, or we could go there and nick the points. Next 3 games will shape our season though.
Brainy Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 Whats wrong with that? You said we weren't great, then said 7/11 players were great. That and your comma fetish.
Pen 3 veteran Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 The old ones are not the problem in the days of sk2 and sk3 at filbert st we had plenty of songs. The young city fans are boring and dont have the imagination to come up with any songs. I've not posted in ages, but regularly read the forum. First, big credit to all you city fans supporting team home and away. I ashamed to admit only managed 1 game last season - midweek Colchester away win 1-0 (Dyer) - great night and I thought our support, singing and spirit between fans was great. Don't know if the design of their ground, but singing seemed really loud. Came over on Tuesday for the BC game. Treat for my eldest son who has started at the De Mont Univ (his flat is in the new Liberty park building that stands on the site of the old Liberty knitwear factory - you oldies will remember seeing the statue from the old kop) . Anyway, I know lots of you in deep shock from the Saturday nightmare, and it was a cold miserable wet Tuesday with a crowd below 20k, but me and the boy were surprised how quiet it was. I'd booked seats in the East Stand closer to the corner flag nearest to the kop, expecting to hear the full roar of the kop on the team coming out, when we attacked and I hoped when we scored, but it was really flat, and like a library where we sat! As has been said, there are pockets singing most of the time, but the sound doesn't carry. On the kop, there was the main section at the back right behind the goal, and a group to the left of the goal viewed from the pitch. I heard our likely lads next to the away fans (only there to wind away fans up? surprised stewards allow it). Don't know how you solve the non singers on the kop. Don't understand why they buy a ticket behind the goal (crap view). History now, but if players on Tuesday come out to a really loud, complete support from a forgiving kop at least, it could have lifted them after Sat and been right up for it from kick off, loads of pressure and a goal before BC realised how low the confidence of the team and fans was. The kop looked good and full/almost full from where we were and so with proper vocal support should boost the team. We couldn't believe the groans of some oldies around us after 10 mins at certain City players (same players who on the live Sky games had played really well and were very committed). On songs, how about after a few "left side/ right side", you turn it in to one altogether (as it used to be) "we are the spion kop, we are the spion kop, we are the spion kop Filbert Street". It would be a nod to the history of the club, and like Man U, Liverpool etc fans who still songs that I remember when I were a lad........(ahhh) talking of which, how about "once upon a time there was a Spion Kop....." now there's a tune........... right, off for me Horlicks

Pen 3 veteran Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 Cheering when the team come out started to die when they were forced by the football authorities to come out together - another piece of sanitisation on the back of making it 'family friendly' sad, but true. Any suggestions on where we sit next time?( expect to be getting to more home games now son is nearby) Cheers
davieG Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 sad, but true.Any suggestions on where we sit next time?( expect to be getting to more home games now son is nearby) Cheers Top middle of the kop is fairly noisy. By the way I think those 'quiet' ones sit in the kop/behind the goal because it's a fair bit cheaper than the East and considerably more so than the West.

This problem will only ever be solved if they introduce a decent size unreserved area - so probably never then.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 sad, but true.Any suggestions on where we sit next time?( expect to be getting to more home games now son is nearby) Cheers I might be moving my season ticket to L1, so we can get a bit more atmosphere. In C2 at the moment, good view, just quiet as a library.
purpleronnie Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 They could not sell the away end out though, Sheffield is not that far. Its not how many travel, its the mentality of those who do.
lildave3 Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 My personal highlight was England international Michael Gray...being played ridiculously out of position.
Ozwin Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 I might be moving my season ticket to L1, so we can get a bit more atmosphere. In C2 at the moment, good view, just quiet as a library. That. Although change it so SK2.
Corky Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 Well, that felt much better. We needed a performance as well as a result, and we got both. Wednesday were poor, make no mistake, but you can only beat what's in front of you, and we did that comfortably. Delighted to see Howard score, and for King to get another couple of well-taken goals. The team looked like it had shape, as Dyer had a good game. Morrison impressed me, especially with his clearance of that goal-bound shot. I felt for the Wednesday fans, brought plenty again and weren't given anything to shout about. Pearson made changes and got his reward, so fair play to him.

Bert Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 You know your managers shot it when he takes off their best player halfway through the first half. We were much better than the last two games, but Wednesday were so poor.
