It's a GOAL!

Even the player has his hands in the air as to say how was that a goal.

Love how the manager/coaching staff are just chilling and then all of a sudden start celebrating in shock as they can't believe their luck when they hear the refs whistle signal the goal. :D

I saw this video on a referee forum earlier and I think it's funny how, on here, you get comments such as "how can you respect the referee", whereas on there it's just finding it funny lol

Integrity, honesty and sportsmanship are from a bygone age!

Should not one of the players have said something to the ref? Something along the lines of, "Ref, I know your decision benefits me, but it wasn't a goal."

Players seem to get away lightly and feel happy to say that the ref did this, or the ref should have given this decision, but very few are prepared to help the man in black. As Thierry Henry showed, much better to cheat than be honest in football. No action was taken by the disciplinary panel against him last week so his cheating has ensured France go to the world cup and he will play in every game.

When the 'phantom goal' (Watford v Reading) was scored didn't one of the Reading players go over to the Linesman/Referee after the goal with the Watford players, Don't know if he did say anything I would have thought so. :dunno:

Fair enough when Henry scored the 'hand of frog' he didn't say anything, and no-one said anything with the 'goal' shown in this thread.

I thought that, but then the opposition didn't make much of a complaint either - might have had something to do with the 5-0 scoreline!

How can referee's honestly expect people to respect them? :dunno:

That's a bit harsh considering this is a rare shocking blunder by one ref and not all would be that stupid.

Every referee, in Every game makes a mistake during games, 1 or 2 acceptable, everyone makes mistakes but the standard of referee is going down, Perhaps because the game is getting faster and too much for 1 man and 2 assistants (3 inc the 4th Official), With the blatently easy, clear to see decision's that are wrong during games in general I find it hard to respect officials.

Another point, not related to this thread but on referee, Players and fans are meant to respect the referee's and officials, what about the other night when Mark Davies went down with a serious injury when he was assulted by Gallas, Arsenal then went onto score, fair enough by the rules the referee didn't need to stop the game - it wasn't a head injury, but to then add insult to injury the FA take no action on Gallas - That isn't the referee's fault although the FA would probably ask him his opinion - Anyway my point is if the FA and referee's are not going to respect players in those occasions (And it was a bad tackle) how are they meant to respect the referee? (I just wondering if any action would have been taken if it wasn't Arsenal :dunno:)

I was surprised that the opposition players didn't give the ref much hassle.

And the lino has to take some responsibility over that too!

a) They were 5-0 down (I think - They were losing heavily anyway) so probably were past caring.

b) They'd have probably had a few players booked anyway...You must respect the Referee....He is 'always' right.

1) I'm not fit enough.

2) It doesn't interest me.

3) I'm not short enough. (Yes, notice alot - not all I admit but most referee's have what I call short man syndrome - Have to be the centre of attention.)

4) I know i'm not good enough. (Something some referee's should realise about themselves.)

Atleast i'm honest with myself.

You can't blame just the ref - at least one of the officiating team (in this case the linesman) have simply got to take over and make sure the right decision is made in the end.

As for the players telling the ref it wasn't a goal? I certainly wouldn't!

How often does a nailed-on penalty not get given, only for the offender to head over to the ref and protest that he had fouled and a penalty should have been given? Not very often methinks...

Giving a phantom goal might seem much more ridiculous than missing a foul in the box, but essentially one team is still being robbed one way or the other.

As I'm constantly reminded whenever a decision goes against City, these things "balance themselves out" in the end (except for the 2007/2008 LCFC Season )
