easilee Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 i was devastated when we didn't snap up the Algerian star Ars Bandeet Are you kidding? There is a player called Arse Bandit? Almost as bad as the greek guy called Ichyanus. (not a footballer).

fatmando Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 Kanu next I really hope so! "NOBBY SOLANO" I think it's a decent bit of business and hope he plays a blinder against his old club next week. A win against them will be awesome. Go on Nobby!
Big Ol' Bob Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 Great deal this, got alot of family who are West Ham fans and most of them said they would still take him back now, terrific player and a top professional.

Gotta give it up to you my man. That link is effing brilliant. I'm trying to think of what a commentator might say if most of these players were playing at the same time.

CHIQUI ARSE on the wing, DAFT and COSTLY are like DINAMITE against FANNI but CHARLIE is FAULTLESS. LICKA is on MINGE like a NUTTER, but WANKLYN is just watching.
Legend_in_blue Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 I was saying a couple of weeks ago that we haven't quite seen a deadball specialist with the quality of Steve Guppy since his time at the club. I think we just found someone who can step up to the mark tbh. Guppy wasn't the quickest either but he made up for it with those superb crosses from the edge of the box. There's no need to run to the line, Nobby will curl them in with his sweet foot. This is good business. It's a step closer to maintaining some sort of play-off push and we could end up looking pretty solid down the right from now on.
Guest DavidJCW Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 Could be a good signing, it might just add a bit of experience and quality to a midfield that hasn't really been up to it for the past few weeks. Yes he's old and perhaps not at his best but to be honest with you, if he can pass on some of his knowledge to the rest of the team, it'll be a good bit of business.
easilee Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 Some more commentary now. " New signing Solano goes past one, past two, speculative shot 25 yards, OH MY GOD WHAT A GOAL!! PUTS LEICESTER CITY AHEAD OF NEWCASTLE 3 GOALS TO 2 WITH 30 SECONDS OF ADDED TIME REMAINING!! SOLARO AS COOL AS THE ICE LOLLY HE'S NAMED AFTER COMES BACK TO HAUNT HIS OLD CLUB. This will happen. I know a voodoo priest who promised me.
Head Honcho Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 Always had a lot of time for this fella I really hope he doesn't disappoint. I know he's getting on but trust in NP as I like to say.

hbkkids Posted 24 January 2010 Posted 24 January 2010 im hoping he plays well on his debut, but i can see it being like a benitez signing!
Suffolk_fox Posted 24 January 2010 Posted 24 January 2010 im hoping he plays well on his debut, but i can see it being like a benitez signing! On what do you base this? He has done well wherever he has gone - he is no Ronaldo but he always does the job. You do need to underpin statements like that on here or people will slate you!!

Leicfox Posted 24 January 2010 Posted 24 January 2010 From a lad on the Newcastle boards... There is a bit of a scandal in Solano leaving Peru.Apparently he had a baby with a woman who isn't his wife. The baby is a few months old. The woman threatened to go public with it and he tried to get out of Peru before everything hit the fan and his wife found out He's basically running from his personal issues. His thinking apparently is that he can defend the story better if he was out of the country, or just escape the situation completely for a while. He took the first offer he could get,and then figured he'd work out the details from there. Solano = The Peruvian Becks.

To be fair the Geordies are saying he intentionally didn't score against Newcastle in a reserve match for Sheff Utd recently. They come out with some bull.
reynard Posted 24 January 2010 Posted 24 January 2010 did Colchester not offer him a contract , or did we snatch him from under their noses ? Colchester turned him down as far as local Tv down there were reporting. Maybe a wages thing rather than a playing issue.
Leicfox Posted 24 January 2010 Posted 24 January 2010 Colchester turned him down as far as local Tv down there were reporting. Maybe a wages thing rather than a playing issue. I think it was wages. They deffo wanted his services but couldn't afford the 19k a week were probably paying.
Geo V Posted 24 January 2010 Posted 24 January 2010 From a lad on the Newcastle boards...Solano = The Peruvian Becks. Ive heard him called the Peruvian Maradona and I can remember Maradona once came out with some real compliment on Solano. I prefer to call him the Peruvian Roy Castle, RIP Im sure he`ll be an asset to the club for the next 5 months
Bert Posted 24 January 2010 Posted 24 January 2010 Strikes me as a combination of the two. Mandaric wanting a name player and Pearson thinking of Solano.I've nothing against Solano and Pearson surely has the advantage of knowing his capabilities although the years have been passing and I can see him finding it as hard as every other winger we've had to fulfill the role expected of him. But we'll see. Whatever, the pending loss of Gradel remains a waste. We didn't get the best of him by a long way, something we seem to be making a habit of in recent times. Why? We have N'guessan, who in half of the time Gradel's been here has scored more goals, is quicker, stronger and much more of a threat.

Only time will tell if Maxi goes on to be a loss. I dont usually agree with Thrac but I must admit that there is something about Maxi that makes me think in a couple of years he will be very good. Maybe the mistake NP made was sending him to a big club for his experience as from that moment the fans fell for him and Im sure his mind was made up.
