Confirmed Transfer - Nobby Solano

Who have we got that is supposedly good at set-pieces?

Exactly. We've got players that have done it very slightly better in the past than they are now but we're a donkey's cock away from having a set-piece specialist.

I can feel it, Mandaric's going for the promotion push!

It's happening, I would of signed Solano over Davids, such a great player.

Eh, whether we like it or not, football's a business. Gradel's apparently not what Nigel Pearson is looking for and if he'll bring a tidy fee then I personally have no issue with him being sold. You need, to some extent, to have a little faith in your manager and given what Pearson's done with his minuscule budget so far I think I'm pretty happy continuing to do so.

Summer's when the best signings, the most well researched signings are made and I'm sure if Pearson recognizes a real absence of quality out wide he'll come back for a look in the summer. For now I'd rather we take on someone like Solano for a pittance than panic-buy some £2m waste of space.

Aye I was going to ask. Someone scores a free-kick or puts in a few good corners and we tend to go nuts but to be fair I can't remember the last time we had a quality set piece taker. Gary Parker?

You talk far too much sense sometimes

Parkers free kicks and Guppys corners

I have full faith in the manager thank you very much and am one of the first to defend him on here.

As a fan though I've a right to question the theory behind transfers. The fact is were not getting a tidy fee as you've so blindingly suggested and I personally feel were letting go of a player who has a lot of potential. As you say football is a business. Surely a future prospect is worth keeping from a business perspective. The problem is were resigned to losing Gradel now as he doesn't want to be here due to lack of chances or for whatever reasons.

I have full faith in Pearson but that doesn't mean he's immortal and doesn't mean I agree with everything he does.

I mean I still question the signing of Gallagher, it doesn't mean because Pearson got it wrong that I've lost complete faith, so stop jumping to conclusions like that. I will still back the team and manager till the end but as a supporter it doesn't mean I've got to stop having an opinion.

Good signing!! Expect him to be in the squad tomorrow. Great player to bring on and get some quality balls in the box. I can't see how people can complain.

Sheff Utd didn't fancy him though....

Possible unknown fact: Solano has his face on a Peruvian stamp and his wedding was televised live! :giggle:

Whinge that we don't have anyone that's any good at set-pieces > Hear we've signed someone with a brilliant record at set pieces > Whinge

Who is actually whinging at this though?......unless you count like one person as the benchmark for the whole of Foxestalk.

Where have you been for the last few weeks? The suicide rate in Leicester has gone through the bloody roof at the thought of him going. :D

Apologies, I thought I was in the gradel thread!!!!

Why is everyone comparing him to Gradel? Far better passer of the ball and can take a set piece. Gradel showed small signs of brilliance but was usually shit.

I'd rather have Solano in my squad than Gradel. I for one reckon he's over-rated. If he was that good, why would he be leaving?

I'm going to get whinged at now for saying he's over-rated.

As soon as the Neilson haters realise he could replace him, this guy will be loved all round.

As soon as the Neilson haters realise that with an actual decent right winger in front of him, who actually knows how to play the position and who can offer support and cover 3/4 of the ground that Neilson is trying to cover as Oakley goes off on one, BOTH guys will be loved all round.

Best we're going to get when Pearson clearly has fuck all money to spend. Shot himself in the foot by spending so much on shitty Gallagher.

amen.

and even then, it wasn't a complaint about the signing, it was an observation that , coming on the same day we loose gradel, it emphasises a very valid point that we are in danger of relying too much on short term fixes...

probably not the right place for it, admittedly, but a valid point.

generally, i think everyone seems relative satisfied with this signing and as this excellent point....

suggests, could actually solve two problems in one go....
