Sly Posted 24 February 2010 Author Posted 24 February 2010 That's a shame, but I can't say I blame you. 4 hours of travelling every day would be far from fun. I accepted another one, so it's not all bad news!
z-layrex Posted 24 February 2010 Posted 24 February 2010 I dont know how people can travel so far for work but if it's a decent job then it must be worth it for some people. I couldnt do it, but then I get way too tired at work to be driving for that long afterwards.
Tabou Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 I have always had a job that involved a fairly dull commute. Leicester to Kettering - 1hour. Leicester to Derby - 1 hour+ depending on traffic. Started working for the family again at beginning of February (all planned...) and now I have a 3 minute drive door to door. (For those Friends of the Planet types, I drive as I used the car during the day to visit clients). It as made a massive difference to my motivation, attitude and quality of home life. Having time to get ready in the morning and have breakfast, getting home at a decent hour rather than gone 8pm means less earache when you get home. Obviously, you have turned down the job now, and deffo the right choice. I'd never do more than a 30 min trip again...
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Half an hour by car on the A50 and A511 from town to Coalville. I'm tempted to start going by bus, but I'd have to be at St. Margaret's for 7:40.
lildave3 Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Pretty soon i'll have to bike to and from work, instead of getting a lift there and walking back. It might kill me.
Daggers Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 My ten minute drive is about to be replaced with a 20 mile cross-country stomp on the bike. Fine in summer - hell when the snow and ice comes. I'll be needing a second car.

Ric Flair Posted 26 February 2010 Posted 26 February 2010 10 to 15 minutes on the tube. But having to rest your head in someone's armpit most days adds on a good 45 minutes mentally in my opinion.
TrickyTrev Posted 26 February 2010 Posted 26 February 2010 I start a new job on Monday in Westminster, probably going to take me just over and hour an door to door every day. I am not looking forward to it. Still, train paid for.
Monk Posted 26 February 2010 Posted 26 February 2010 35 minutes - Custom House to London Bridge. Not too bad, but I hate the tube with passion.
