dandannieldanok Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 Perhaps i'm being harsh You are, in my opinion anyway. That was not a 3-0 performance in my eyes. We weren't as bad and they weren't as good as it suggests. The first goal is simply hats off to the scorer, the closing down wasn't actually that bad it was just a brilliant first time strike. The second goal was the major let down of the night, awful time to concede and slow reactions. The third was simply a case of us pushing too many men forward trying to get back into the game, wouldn't have happened if the scores were level. Yes, our overall performance wasn't great but I thought we at least got the ball down and knocked it about with some fluidity in the first half. Dyer was a threat, albeit a passing one over the 90 minutes, and there was at least some pressure on Carson's goal at times. People have got to remember we're playing the second best team in the league, nevermind playing them in this form. Over this weekend, Monday was always going to be the key game.
unreachable Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 Good performance by Pearson on Sky Sports. A good positive manager.
CKB Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 WBA just seemed a total step up from us, there midfield at times showed us what we lack in our midfield...that 60 yard pass from Brunt was pure sex and Oakley can't even pass a ball 6 yards! But just there midfield in general looked more composed, more classy and got forward. .And i believe this was only second gear from them aswell but they showed what a decent team they are We had patchy spells of ok play but overall just not good enough.. We might be lacking confidence, had iffy decisions, etc may have gone against us lately but in this game we were outplayed by a much better side and now we just simply have to move on and try and save our season with the 5 games left.. I believe we can do it but abit of luck might also be needed
CupidStunt Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 aye, QPR is a massive game, must get something out of it now can see blackpool picking up another 6-7 points, which means we need another 8 at least saving grace might be they got forest and newcastle to come at least we have some winnable games, that you have to fancy us getting some points but having lost the last 4, i think we'd be lucky to take 7 out the next 15
Stevosevic Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 Not sure why people are thinking that we need 12-14 points. Looking at Blackpool's fixtures, they are harder than ours. Even if they were 'easy' i wouln't expect them to get more than 12. 9 points will do it.
samuel Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 The players fought hard throughout - team spirit looks good - we didn't give up. We're in the top six with five games to go and 3 very winnable games to come. I'm looking forward to QPR. Will all you moaning **** be back when we win the next three games? Oh...Yes, most probably. We don't have the squad to win the next three games, it is too small and the tiredness showed in the Cov game. We don't have enough in reserve to bring on and change games. I don't believe the wheels have come off just yet, Blackpool will lose again soon but that is how we will make the Play offs, by other teams faltering too!. Not the best way to approach some tough play off games ahead.
Jonezy Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 Only saw the 2nd half and on the very small Bet365 stream, but the lack of off the ball in the final third is really frustrating as it causes us to hoof, which makes it too easy to sweep up for the opposition. Too many moments of players wanting to play the killer pass from midfield and the end result being loss of possession. We need a game plan upfront - if we really are going to hoof it - then bloody aim for Howard and swarm him with 3 or 4 players to be there for the second ball - right now we lose possession even when he wins the headers. WBA were different class though, and it is no shame to lose to a better team, but man, I want our mojo back.
Jodranadinho Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 i feel that 3-0 wasn't a fair reflection on the game. yes, they might have outplayed us but people that look at the score and didn't watch the game will think we were dominated in all areas. In all honesty, first half i feel we played quite well and matched them at times. They didn't look like scoring until a great goal by morrison. At halftime Pearson would have told them to play like they did in the first 10 minutes and go at them. At the start of the 2nd half with the inclusion of Gallagher we came out fighting, but didn't have an end product, wasted chances, partly down to Howards poor accuracy. we lack a finisher and are recent form is showing that we miss Fryatt. Vaughan did well for me when he came on for Dyer and threatened their defense, in my eyes he has deserved a start on monday. Never the less are destiny is in our hands and QPR at home is a crucial game and now a must win in my eyes. come on city!
Lisburn Fox Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 Good performance by Pearson on Sky Sports. A good positive manager. Agree and we do need to take a breath (including me) and look at what we need to do from here on forget the last 2 weeks and concentrate on the next 2. I still believe we will be in the play offs as all teams will drop points. I still believe that Swansea are in a more precarious place than we are hence the reason i think we want Cardiff to win 2 moro, we win on Monday and Swansea don't as I can see 1 team from the chasing pack catching up to 6th but not 2. BLUE ARMY
Ozwin Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 That loss has made me feel a bit sick tbh. We were 7 points clear in the playoffs, looking up at Forest rather than down behind us. Now it's changed in a week and it's just really unsettled me. Absolutely gutted.
Lisburn Fox Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 and tonight's lottery numbers are.................. In my pocket I hope
Matt Posted 2 April 2010 Author Posted 2 April 2010 Good performance by Pearson on Sky Sports. A good positive manager. Yeah gotta say it restored abit of faith and opened my eyes, As I said perhaps I was being harsh in my first post, knee-jerk to some extent, but also as I said I am very frustrated at not just the results but performances of late. Lets just hope the players back what NP said up - I have worries whether they will. I've been saying since the Cardiff game we'd lose today and a draw was the best we could hope for but it still hurts and is annoying even going into a game expecting to lose, I have also been saying get WBA out the way and then try and look forward.
LoughboroughFox Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 In my pocket I hope well i hope you will be "donating" towards the football club we all love!
unreachable Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 A good cliche but the table doesn't lie at this stage of the season that's why WBA are in an automatic spot and we are 6th. It's a game of fine margins. IF Howard scored it might have been different. The negativity on this site is appalling. I'm enjoying being in the sixth place with five games to go.
purpleronnie Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 Good performance by Pearson on Sky Sports. A good positive manager. Of course he can do no wrong.
FoxyPV Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 We were outclassed today - WBA took their chances, we didn't. A couple of moments of dodgy defending cost us the game. We WILL get it together for QPR and hopefully get some points. We need Fryatt back asap! The midfield lacked creativity and invention - Gallagher did well when he came on apart from that shite free kick. (sigh) just frustrated at the lack of fight we had today - WBA wanted it more and it showed. We were static in attack and when there were 50/50 balls we didn't even try to go for them. We should still make the playoffs as we are still a point in front and one result will reignite our form. C'mon City!! :scarf:
CKB Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 aye, QPR is a massive game, must get something out of it now can see blackpool picking up another 6-7 points, which means we need another 8 at least saving grace might be they got forest and newcastle to come at least we have some winnable games, that you have to fancy us getting some points but having lost the last 4, i think we'd be lucky to take 7 out the next 15 I hate the term "massive game" as it's branded about on here way to much but i have to agree this time, QPR match is huge for so many reasons I wouldn't like to say what games are winnable, etc as every team can beat eachother on the day, i can't predict jackshit in this league as anything happens.. We can only hope things go better for us in the next 5 games
orangecity23 Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 Brunt, Morrison, Dorrens and Koren. All 4 are top midfield players in this division. Thats where the game was lost today. We won't play a better team than WBA this season, in my opinion they're better than Newcastle. Now we need to regroup, take the paltry 2 days rest, then give everything against QPR on Monday. Being back at home will help as well.
Lisburn Fox Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 well i hope you will be "donating" towards the football club we all love! It goes without saying £500 to the foxes trust thing a few years ago and a good % if it ever happens.
Guest Bilo Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 go away ****! Pipe down a bit. They're gaining ground on us hand over fist and we're clearly losing our way at the worst time of the season. The fact that our form has collapsed shows that we'll probably fail in the play-offs if we do make them, and you only have to look at Forest in 2005 and Leeds in 2007 to see what a devastating impact play-off failure can potentially have on a team the following season. I've already accepted that we're going to finish 7th or 8th now and take that as a massive improvement after years of failure at this level. It's disappointing when we've been in the play-offs all season but most would have cheerfully taken mid-table in August, myself included. We need to start planning for next season by having a look at good leftbacks and central midfielders so we may even be able to make a charge for automatic promotion with all of the doomed Premiership teams looking unlikely to be all that strong for a variety of reasons, so the duopoly of Newcastle and WBA that has existed this season won't next.
unreachable Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 Of course he can do no wrong. A strange interpretation of my post.
Guest Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 A 5 game win streak to finish the season will have you all expecting the city to get promotion - which we shall with a 4:3 win over forest.
purpleronnie Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 A strange interpretation of my post. Well yours was a strange post. Frankly couln't give a shit how his 'performance was'. Makes no difference it anyway.
dandannieldanok Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 I've already accepted that we're going to finish 7th or 8th Why would you do that when we're 6th?
