Post Match v West Brom

We can look at this result in two ways:

firstly, we've came up from league one and outdone all expections or you can look at it like we have threw away our previous position (3rd) and are now looking behind us rather than pressurizing teams above us.

This is the bit everyone needs to focus on

Well yours was a strange post.

Frankly couln't give a shit how his 'performance was'. Makes no difference it anyway.

Just my stream of consciousness - that's all. You need a positive manager at this stage of the season.

Blackpool arnt our only threat you know!!

I'm so pissed off.Hard to find a positive after that performance.

Lets get pissed.

I know i feel that too many people are thinking of recent form and not previous. We've done well whatever happens.

Looking at the run in, its still in our own hands, all home games winnable, peterboro and preston to travel to, as much as the last few weeks has been poor, i feel we can make it into 6th, and a double against nothing-ham to book our place against a sheep shagger!

I couldn't imagine that i would feel so downcast with the team in the last play-off spot with only five games to go, but i guess the 7 point cushion we had gave me a real sense of us being a shoe-in for the play-offs.

Any team who loses 4 in a row at this point of the season can't expect to end up in the play-offs. A few times this season we looked in a false position, but then kicked on again. I would love that pattern to repeat, but after the last couple of weeks I just cannot see it - we're now making a similar number of changes match-by-match to the farcial relegation a couple of years ago, and the irony of Holloway in charge of the team most likely to pip us to a play-off berth, with one of our own strikers scoring goals which have helped them back into contention would be hilarious if it wasn't happening to us.

Maybe it is negative, but I can't see where the 3 wins we need are going to come from between now and the end of the season - we go into them with nothing like a settled side, NP suddenlyt not seeming to know who to play where, key players injured or completely out of form, and the pressure of giving away a huge points advantage against us. The wheels have well and truly come off - such a shame at this point in the season when it offered so much just three short weeks ago.

Why would you do that when we're 6th?

For the good reason that we've gone from being 7 points inside the play-offs with a game in hand to just 1 point inside with no games in hand in less than a fortnight. Blackpool are finishing strongly, as are Doncaster and Reading.

Middlesbrough aren't out of it either. The threats are many and we look ill-equipped to ward them off on current form.

This - and whilst all of the games left look 'winnable', it is worth noting that we have only won 5 games against teams currently in the bottom half of the table all season.

just scanned our and Blackpools remaining fixtures. Regardless of form they look too close to call in terms of points - when you take form into account.... well :dunno:

Needless to say they'll be numerous times in the coming weeks to check our pants for skidders <_<

Oakley, Nielson, Adams. When will the management see that players like this are not good enough.

I am not blaming them of course, but I would like to have seen a different starting line up to that, and Waghorn going off was ridiculas, even if he was getting frustrated.

Dyer, King and Wellens were good today again, but no impact from Oakley and Adams to help out.

We don't even look like scoring at this current moment. We don't even shoot. Take a leaf out of Morrison's (J) book and shoot. DJ Campbell scoring two for Blackpool is a joke, WBA's third goal was a joke.

Although Blackpool still need to play Forest and Newcastle and Swansea need to play Cardiff and Sheffield United, Queens Park Rangers is a must win.

Well that's wrong for a start.

It's also worth noting that we've only lost to one of the next five sides we play...

NO game in this division is easy. Anyone can beat anyone and thats whats worrying.

look at it this way, we might be up to 5th come monday

if cardiff do us a favour and beat swansea, and then scunny can hold out for a point against them, things will look very different

and come next sat after we have collected 3 points against qpr, and then another 3 against posh things will look even brightrer :scarf:

did i tell you my mums mistic bloody meg's great aunt ?

cardiff/swansea is also a massive game for us, we dont need them pulling away, we need them being staying in the mixer aswell

will be cheering on cardiff tomorrow

Oh, can we recalll DJ Campbell? just down to the fact he is scoring for blackpool?

just seems comical, he is on loan to a club, that is fighting for a playoff place, and scoring goals

You are, in my opinion anyway.

That was not a 3-0 performance in my eyes. We weren't as bad and they weren't as good as it suggests. The first goal is simply hats off to the scorer, the closing down wasn't actually that bad it was just a brilliant first time strike. The second goal was the major let down of the night, awful time to concede and slow reactions. The third was simply a case of us pushing too many men forward trying to get back into the game, wouldn't have happened if the scores were level. Yes, our overall performance wasn't great but I thought we at least got the ball down and knocked it about with some fluidity in the first half. Dyer was a threat, albeit a passing one over the 90 minutes, and there was at least some pressure on Carson's goal at times. People have got to remember we're playing the second best team in the league, nevermind playing them in this form. Over this weekend, Monday was always going to be the key game.

Precisely. You don't trade blows with West Brom, especially with the form they are in. The moment their first goal went in, it was game over I thought. I had this game down as a loss though, and as you said the important one was Monday. The vast majority of teams in this league would have lost to WBA today.

QPR

Posh

Watford

Preston

Boro

Not a bad set of games left. If we can get 10 points from that lot, then I believe we've secured our spot.

Let's be honest we were the better side (West Brom) but I still believe you have all the credentials to be challengers for the league next season. You will definatley enter the play-off lottery and to be fair I can see you coming out on top. You don't need to worry about other results as long as you keep on winning, just like us.

Thank you and good luck for the rest of the season!

P.S what have you lot got against Mattock?

Still, best of luck to you in the Premiership next season. Your fans are decent, your team plays lovely football and you've stopped Forest getting automatic promotion. What's not to like?

That's the problem the winning part!

You were the better side, you have some very good players and an excellent midfield that we can only dream about!

As for Mattock..just a disloyal ****! said lots of stuff how he loved Leicester, etc and then wanted out.. He will do the same to you oneday no doubt

TO EVERYONE WHO IS BASHING THE TEAM AND USING WORDS LIKE PATHETIC AND USELESS GET A FU*KING GRIP

DONT YOU THINK THE PLAYERS WANT THIS, DONT THEY WANT TO GET INTO THE PREM? CANT THEY BE 'BOTHERED' TO GET TO THE PREM?

GET REAL

Weve got 5 games left, its a 5 game mini season

The objective: Win all of our home games and get to 70 points

What do you think all of your non stop whining will actually achieve? will it spur the team on? will it help replace the confidence we are suffering with right now ? NO

I suggest you are the ones who dont want premiership football because you are clouding the team and the rest of the fans with negativity

WE CAN STILL PULL THIS OFF, WE ARE STILL IN THE TOP SIX, WE ARE STILL IN THE BEST POSITION, WE STILL HAVE A DECENT RUN IN

Bar some quality up front, we played some good progressive football tonight and created a number of chances. OK, i admit the third goal was terrible from our point of view, but the first one was unstoppable and for the second, we couldnt react quick enough.

Dyer until going off was pacey, lively and causing loads of problems, and Steve Howard on another day could have bagged 2 as well. Vaughny when he came on spiced it up too, and second half we gave it a real go

FIVE GAMES LEFT, ITS GAME ON

AND FOR GODS SAKE JUST BACK THE FU*KING TEAM OR SHUT UP

But couldn't get one on target till the 81st min!!!!!

Fair enough, Mattock has been second fiddle to Cech most of the season and when he has played he is very slow. When I heard we were in for him I was excited because I had heard he was and England prospect but to be honest pacey wingers rip him appart. Saying that though he is very young and can get a lot better.

Do you think he is a decent player? I remeber 2 seasons back when he whipped that ball in and Howard scored a header, back when you beat us 4-1 and Lee Hendrie was a t**t!

Good performance by Pearson on Sky Sports. A good positive manager.

Yes watching Pearsons interview did give me a bit of faith back.

Was happy with how we started today but in the end was disappointed with giving too much possession away. The lads just need to suck it up and give it their all in the next few games. They have been pretty magnificent all season to get us where we are so shouldn't grumble!

Deep down I never really expected more than a point today and feared the worst so got to try and stay positive and hope for the best. After being 90% sure of a play-off spot a few weeks ago these times are hard to take and I feel quite sick about it. Very, very nervous but that's football for ya.
