Dr The Singh Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 It's still our position to lose. Our destiny is still in our own hands. We need to stay upbeat and get behind the lads. Yesterday the lads gave everything, but nothing fell for us. The first two goals were both down to us not clearing second balls. Two simple things really. They took their chances and we didn't take ours. I thought we had more of the ball and matched them for most of the game. It seems to me that the people saying we were shit were those who watched on tv, and that's no dig by any means. We've many positives to take from the game and a quick and pretty decent chance to put things right on Monday. West Brom are perhaps the least sportsmanlike team we've played this season, and not just yesterday, at our place too. Another tosspot ref as well. So inconsistent. west brom were there for the taking, i was sitting in the west brom end in the east stand and the general consensus was that it was there worst performance all season.....we kept the ball well and didn't look like conceding, on the other hand we have very little from an attacking sense from midfield, especially our captain who should stick to selling wine. poor nielsen, who lacks confidence also offers nothing from an attacking sense had a mire....................
C.J Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 Did anybody else think there was a steward that looked like Morgan Freeman?? He was down by the advertising boards 1st half. He was wearing a black hat.

I hate West Brom their all up their own arses. Small club. Carson and Ollson are w@nkers. QPR is a season defining game FACT. Really gotta get behind the lads now. Its between us, Blackpool, Boro and Swansea now.
Asha Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 Hopefully we can still scrape the play-offs, but to be honest it does almost feel like we've fucked it. That Coventry game was definitely the turning point. Would have gone 10 points above 7th had we won that, now we're 1 point with a worse goal difference. Still in our own hands though.
Daggers Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 Any other interesting facts you'd like to share about tonight's game? Not you as well? Why is it that everyone on this forum seems to be losing all vestiges of a sense of humour?

Pretty much agree with all of that and I watched it on the TV.
lcfc_jme Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 Watched it in Soar Point alongside Sparky and Mellberg, and have to say that we did not, at any stage, appear to be outclassed or 3 goals worse than them. 2 defensive mistakes and a brililant but ultimately unchallenged strike did for us, as well as Steve Howards' complete inability to hit a fcking barn door. We could, in all honesty, have scored 4 or 5 ourselves (I've seen the game twice and still maintain that) but we're nowhere near clinical enough and it's certainly a problem. I think the consensus is that we need a MINIMUM of 7 points from our next 3 to maintain any hope of staying in the playoffs. We are nowhere near good enough to play in the Premier League next season and stay there, but we are certainly good enough to give ourselves the chance to do so. It's all going to depend on how much the team believe in themselves and how they take the chances they create in the next 5 games. We'll see.
flanimal Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 Still in our hands, but when was the last time anyone can remember City winning 5 matches on the trot?
Salieri Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 Still in our hands, but when was the last time anyone can remember City winning 5 matches on the trot? And why would we need to do that?
Webbo Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 Still in our hands, but when was the last time anyone can remember City winning 5 matches on the trot? Do you think all the teams below will every one of their matches then?
unreachable Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 Still in our hands, but when was the last time anyone can remember City winning 5 matches on the trot? I have a feeling we won the final six games of the 46 match season when Martin O'Neill took us into the Play-Offs in the mid 1990's.
Salieri Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 If Blackpool win 4, then we're fooked. That's a very big if. One of their games is away at Newcastle for starters.
C-man Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 Still in our hands, but when was the last time anyone can remember City winning 5 matches on the trot? I know City fans seem to be born with short-term memories but fvck me... It was last season: S****horpe (A) W 2-1 Crewe (H) W 2-1 Dag & Red (H) W 3-2 Southend (H) W 3-0 Carlisle (A) W 2-1 Peterborough (H) W 4-0
Guest Bilo Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 With Swansea hitting a bad vein of form and Blackpool still to play Forest and Newcastle, we could probably assure ourselves of a place in the play-offs with three wins from five. Marry those to two draws and Blackpool would have some serious catching up to do. I'm just not sure about the trip to Preston and have a bad feeling about that one. That said, they've nothing to play for and might not fancy doing their local rivals a favour. (Clutching at straws now)
flanimal Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 That's a very big if. One of their games is away at Newcastle for starters. But Newcastle could easily be promoted by then, not much to play for. Same with Forest, guranteed play offs, no chance of automatic, not much to play for.
Hackneyisblue Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 It would be a strange team that with a play-off place guaranteed, but the play-offs still to come, decided they had nothing to play for. The team in form generally wins

Salieri Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 Might lose the edge though. Chill out, we'll make it. In the face of adversity we normally pull a result or two out of the bag. And if we don't? If we lost every game from now till the end of the season, i'd be disappointed yes, but i'd still applaud Nige and the lads for a great first season back in the Championship.

MC Prussian Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 It only dawned on me now - after seeing the highlights on the Football League Show - how young that one linesman is. Essentially, a teenager allowed to part-referee a top draw in the second-highest league in England? Wowzer. No wonder this country's going down the drains.
Fosse Boy Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 Wasn't expecting much from Friday so people can't honestly be that disappointed can they? West Brom are just better than us. Our players all did their best but were just outclassed. That's life. The woman getting escorted out was superb. Why did she get taken out anyway?
