unreachable Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Good battling whole hearted team performance. The defence stood out for me with Weale, Hobbs and Morrison the star men. Midfield was very congested with no wing outlets and too much possession lost easily. Waghorn and Howard worked very hard and didn't get much change out of their central defenders except, of course, Howard's goal. Spearing was very willing but needs a bit more physical strength to nail his position. Vaughan had his skating boots on and wasted some good attacking opportunities - good potential though. Excellent result tied in with the other results of teams around us. My nerves can now take a rest for a few days.
Fosse Boy Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Anyone else just in their shirt and shorts today?
The Doctor Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Anyone else just in their shirt and shorts today? shirt and jeans - i don't own shorts.
Joe. Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Well it was another three vital points and ones that could well have set us well on our way to securing the play-offs. That said, I'm still not sure how we won when we never looked like scoring throughout the whole game. When they equalised I thought we'd had it, but sure enough we simply went up the other end and got in front again. I havenn't read any other posts in this thread or seen any stats from the game, but it really wouldn't surprise me if our two goals were the only efforts on target we had all game. In fairness we didn't look like conceding at the other end either, and I reckon they had no more than three on target themselves. That's where the difference in quality comes I suppose, we simply took our chances and ultimately took the points. Great win, unconvincing for me, but we got there in the end. That's all it's about at this stage of the season.
lcfcadam Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Anyone else try to get that first train back to Leicester (17:52)? Absolute nightmare!
Simi Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 We won. It was sunny. On a terrace. Good banter. Lots of beer. Yeeeeeeaah.
Mikey Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Loving that OS picture. Best away day of the season for me, had everything. Loved it.
samjohnson Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 shirt and jeans - i don't own shorts. Likewise - Down to JJB before the next game We won. It was sunny. On a terrace. Good banter. Lots of beer. Yeeeeeeaah. Brilliant summary - Sums up my day also
Joe. Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Oh terraces how I love ya. Yeah I thought the atmosphere was pretty tidy today, would be interested to hear how it sounded from the Posh end.
Shrenchel Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Could've done the backstroke in those pissers at the end of half-time.
Karljohn Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Great day out, reminded me of the old days in pen 2/3 at Filbert Street. Nobody getting up for a piss at 20 past 3, nobody telling us to sit down or shut up. Was Vaughan playing in slippers? he couldn't stand up, thought his work-rate was poor considering he was sub, apart from that the rest put in a decent shift, job done, bring on Watford.
marbelladave Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Matchday report…..by popular demand. Playing our new 4-2-1-2-1 formation we completely dominated Peterborough and should have been ahead by the time Howard used his pace to burst through their defence and hit a stunning goal from at least 25 yards. That we were only 1-0 at half time was a travesty, a combination of atrocious luck and diabolical refereeing as our incisive attacks tore the opposition defence to shreds. Our midfield was totally dominant, though King did manage his usual disappearing act for large chunks of the half. The second half started in a similar manner, Rowe's equaliser should never have been allowed, clearly 5 yards offside when he collected the ball before sprinting past our defenders, I could see quite clearly, that despite being some distance from the action, his shot never crossed the line. When King equalised a few moments later, I was totally surprised, as apart from this goal and maybe 10-12 saving tackles in and around our box, he was nowhere to be seen. Still his incredibly lucky goal restored our lead and in the end, we won with some ease. We were quite superb on the day with every one bar King rating a 9 or 10. in fact Howard deserved a totally 'spinal' 11 though King barely rated a 4 and that only because of his lucky goal. Our traveling support was outstanding, the noise from the London Road terrace was superb throughout.
rico Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Due to family commitments, this was my first away match in nearly 10 yrs and what a great day out it was! Stood in the away end just like back in the day,sun was shining, atmosphere was fantastic and 3 valuable points in the bag Brilliant!!
Unit Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Great day out, just got back despite getting back to Leicester about 8. Shit ground but loved the terrace. Vaughn is shit but who cares, dead happy. Just a quick note, British transport police & National rail, fook OFF, keeping us on the train for god knows how long AFTER it not arriving for 2 hours.
Joe. Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 I think it's harsh to just write off Vaughan and call him shit when he's only made bit-part appearances for us so far. And using today as an example, the service to him was all route one long ball which is never going to help. That said, sort your bloody footwear out man.

So is Waghorns a lot of the time, Stevie Howard might help him out every now and then but the majority of the time he has to chest it down himself and then is expected to turn and attack. What gets me about vaughn is he just looks like he really can't be arsed.

To be fair we've been spoilt with how much effort Waghorn puts in, Vaughans effort was always gonna be compared to Waggys and not many strikers match the effort he puts in.

I only listened to the game on the radio but that report seems in stark contrast to what i heard, and indeed what the majority of posters on here have said. I don't think we were 'superb' by any stretch of the imagination, a great result no doubt, but one (in a game of few chances) that could have gone either way. Everyone (bar King) getting a 9 or 10 rating?! Bizarre. (perhaps you're being 'ironic' or summat and its gone over my head)!

He worked some half-decent positions only to fall over at the the vital moments. Waghorn was getting little out of the big centre-half, so I had no arguments at the substitution.
rico Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 no one got any change from that big centre half all afternoon! thought he looked a decent player tbh
Unabomber Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 I couldn't get to the game today, but just read this on a Posh forum. Looked to be abit more than your usual final whistle handshake to me. There is also a few responses that say similar.. Anyone here see anything? (not that I would be particularly impressed with the signing)

Ozwin Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 I think they think we're getting their captain. Might be wrong.
