Kee considering future

Leicester's Billy Kee is hoping his form while on loan to Accrington Stanley will see his future decided in the coming weeks.

It is understood that Crewe, Tranmere and Notts County are all having the teenage striker watched.

Despite a number of starts for the League Two outfit, Kee has played the majority of his games for Stanley coming off the bench late in the game, but the young hit-man has started the last nine games, scoring three times and finding impressive form.

"It is great to start the last few games and hopefully I have shown enough to the gaffer to get an extended run," said Kee.

"The team spirit is great here and we have an outside chance to make the play-offs and I am delighted to be a part of it."

Kee is out of contract with Leicester this summer, and is waiting for the right time to talk with his hometown club.

"Leicester have been great to me and I am grateful for the opportunity they gave me to come here and continue my education," he said.

"I don't know what will be agreed this summer, we will have to wait and see."

Kee undoubtedly has the pedigree, having earned a place on the bench for the senior team in a World Cup qualifying match for Northern Ireland this season.

"The Northern Ireland experience was great, but if I want more, I need to do it at this level first. It would be great to settle down in one place for the start of next season so I can really give it a push," he said.

I think it will be best for both parties if he moves along.

He has been overlooked on several occasions by Pearson. If Pearson rated him, he would have recalled him when Fryatt got injured.

He will have a decent career at lower league level, but will struggle to ever play anything above League One.

So best of luck to him, has ability, but no where near enough.

Good luck to the lad.

seems to me he thinks of himself a lot higher than others maybe do, yes he had a great youth record but has hardly set the world on fire at Accrington

hmm.. only 19, scoring a few goals, on the bench for a senior international side. I would be seeing how we can keep him here jussssst a little longer.

If we can re-sign him reasonably cheaply and give him a couple more years, would be worth it IMO.

He's won games by his goals for Accrington?

Kee's been mostly sound for Accrington Stanley, scoring some good goals (six in total so far) and for a nineteen-year old, he's doing quite well, really.

Would love him to stay with this club, gain some more experience with the Accy or another League Two/One club, before pushing for a first-team place.

Don't know whether he could cut it at Championship level as of yet, though.

Weren't there stories he wasn't happy and might go somewhere else for first team football doing the rounds when he last came up for a contract renewal, looks like he has an agent that likes to do contract negotiations in the papers.

I've watched Kee on a number of occasions this season and he does alot of selfless work for the team and creates alot of chances for others. As has been said, he's chipped in with 6 goals himself, along with several assists. Considering the early part of the season most of his playing time was coming from the bench, he still managed to affect the games when he came on.

Since his extended run in the side of late, he has done really well for a 19 year old lad. Whilst Grant (Accringtons best player along with Symes) had been out injured, Kee stepped in, and Accrington looked to get the ball up to him as much as possible. He's very strong for a young lad, and alot of their play has come through Billy.

I think a step up to League 1 would benefit him as League 2 is very much kick and rush and hustle and bustle. As Tevez said, if you look at the goals he has scored, they've won games. He's a natural finisher and the side to his game that has really impressed me since his step from youth to pro has been his strength and his selflessness to benefit the team. At youth level he was that much stronger and faster than his opponents he could do it all himself, but at Accrington, he takes a battering off the centre halfs and creates space and opportunities for his team mates.

Another season or so in League 1 would be ideal, and if he keeps progressing as he is, I would love to see him pushing for a place in the Leicester team.

I love the way people just write off some 19-year-old and declare him to be not good enough despite doing nothing but score goals in his time here... and in quantitites at a time on several occasions.

Kee's biggest problem at Leicester has not been scoring it has been a series of injuries that have limited his opportunity for sustained development.

Kee is a natural goalscorer and one thing is certain in my mind - he'd score more goals than Kermorgant match-for-match and also our latest loanee striker from Everton who name escapes me cos he's had so little impact and I can't be bothered looking it up.

But then we were the club that preferred the likes of Horsfield and Cadamarteri to Chris O'Grady who has hardly stopped scoring since he left.

No, I'm not arguing that Kee is good enough cos he's never been in our first team to state his case and we don't have a proper reserve team to our continued cost. But seasoned fans on here said King wasn't good enough the year we got relegated and he was hardly used and again, this year - after we got promoted thanks, in part, to his substantial tally of goals and his consistency.

Bottom line is our fans always seem to prefer supposedly proven people from elsewhere than emerging players from our own ranks. Hell some were even pleased to see Laczko, Kaebi and Carl Cort come here but I've never yet heard them sing out for a youth player...and we don't even have a song for King after the vital goals he's got for us!

And for that reason more than anything Kee would probably make life easier for himself by following Chris O'Grady and moving on to some place where he'll continue to get some games.

I love the way you manage to start off speaking sense, then completely lose the plot and come up with the same old, same old youth team conspiracies.

O'Grady has hardly been outstanding before he joined Rochdale and even there, he's more like the League Two's DJ Campbell, really.

Oh, and give Kee another season. That is, if his prolific agent will let him actually open his mouth on his own.

I don't see many on here writing him off.

I feel that Kee's workrate and effort alone would make him a firm favourite amongst the City fans given a chance but sadly I can't see him getting that chance.

As a local lad, I'm sure there's nothing more he would want than to do well for Leicester, but as time goes on I think a move away would benefit his career.

I can't see us loaning him out again to be honest.

It's his agent talking for him. He comes across as a nice lad but ultimately surrounded by some people who think they can make his decisions.

Let's not carried away on that point...NI have a tiny player pool.

Be worthy of giving him a deal for a touch longer but I think he might reject it.

Aha, those wonderful Ingurlish assets, means you are right though - City fans lap up that kind of nonsense.

'Oh he really tries' they would say, as if that means anything. 'Look, he gives 100% out there' they would add.

Then some muppet would make a Huuuume analogy and everyone would be moaning 'Keeeeeeeeey' when his name was read out.

Fortunately time has moved on and we require a bit more from a player than we recently used to - and more than he is currently able to offer.

The club have made the decision apparently. He wont be here next season is what I was told on Sunday :dunno:
