DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 Yes. Yes I am. I fervently believe that domestic assault should not just be legalised but celebrated with an annual televised awards ceremony presented by the lead singer of Frankie Goes To Hollywood. That, and that some people try engaging their brains before posting absolute shite. Your just a poor sick sod, and a coward at that.
Guest DavidJCW Posted 1 May 2010 Posted 1 May 2010 Voted on and banned by the looks of it... can't say I'm against the decision.
MikeyT Posted 1 May 2010 Author Posted 1 May 2010 http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view/133208/As-Belgium-outlaws-veils-Now-let-s-ban-burka-in-Britain/ BRITISH politicians were last night under mounting pressure to ban the burka. Belgium has became the first European country to make the full-face veil illegal and France is set to follow suit. The UK Independence Party has already vowed to outlaw the “oppressive” clothing. Now the leaders of the three main parties, Labour, the Tories and Lib Dems, are being urged to do the same. UKIP’s Nigel Farage, 46, said: “For once, Belgium has actually done something right. “We have campaigned on this issue long and hard. Burkas are a sign of a divided country. “They oppress women, are a potential security threat and have no place in modern Britain.” Belgium’s new law will come into force as soon as July. But politicians said it should not be seen as an attack on Islam. Centre-Right MP Daniel Bacquelaine said: “The idea that you can recognise people in the street is essential to maintaining public order. “It’s also a question of human dignity. The full-face veil turns a woman into a walking prison.” Women will be banned from covering their face in any public place, with a £110 fine for a first offence. If they refuse to pay or are caught a second time they will be jailed for a week, even though only 400 Belgians are thought to wear the outfit. French President Nicolas Sarkozy, 55, has said the burka is “not welcome” on French territory. He added: “The burka is not a sign of religion, it is a sign of subservience.”

Guest DavidJCW Posted 1 May 2010 Posted 1 May 2010 Why? Why am I against the burka? Well in my opinion it is a security threat. People wandering around in busy streets completely covered so that their eyes are the only visible part of them, and in some cases not even that... Kids aren't allowed into some shops with hoods and hats on, they are vindicated and targeted by police for their attire. Now granted some of these kids are scum but a lot of them aren't... why then do we allow people to walk around wearing something that completely covers their identity. Not only does it mean CCTV is utterly useless in dealing with incidents involving someone wearing one, but it also means it is an easy way for terrorists to target massively crowded areas without being able to be detected at all! Obviously it's only women wearing the burka's but what's stopping a potential terrorist slipping into one and completely covering their identity and masses of explosives and then marching into a shopping centre or stadium and blowing the place up? What's worse is that even if the police suspected something, they aren't allowed to stop and search the burka wearing women for fear of being politically incorrect! Now I realise we're a tolerant country and are open to all sorts of different religions, but there has to be some sort of limit to the extent to which we can go in allowing religion to affect our society and potentially our security.

Why bother when they can use a rucksack, or a belt, or a carrier bag, or a shoe? or even a bombdog like in the day today. linking them to terrorism it's just nonsense in my opinion. The burka is no more a help to terrorists than a pair of trousers or a coat. Surely the idea of a suicide bomber is that they just blend in with everyone else isn't it?
BoneDog Posted 1 May 2010 Posted 1 May 2010 If people are going to blow something up they don't need a burkha to do it. (and to my knowledge a burkha has not been used in a bombing, I obviously don't know for sure but I've never heard of it) A rucksack, a car boot or any old carrier bag will do and banning a burkha will not make anybody any safer (mainly because it is 'security' agencies who carry out the major terrorist attacks).

Alan Johnson Posted 1 May 2010 Posted 1 May 2010 I tried to market TBOS head unit (The Burkha of shame head unit) a few years back. It never picked up unfortunately. We’ve all been there where you’ve brought home a pepperoni faced slut because she was easy. You then wake up in the morning with a cardiac arrest, not only have you woken up with grease all over your matching m&s pillow and duvet set but your lying next to Susan Boyles ugly sister. Well this is where the TBOS head unit comes into play. Not only can you still get your end away in peace but you can attach the inclusive TBOS face attachments available in Cheryl Cole, Kylie Minouge and Barbara Windsor for the elderly. A.Johnson
Guest DavidJCW Posted 1 May 2010 Posted 1 May 2010 What a load of shit. It's just what I think... and are you saying you've never looked at the burka someone is wearing and thought they looked somewhat threatening? And if it was such a load of shit, why have Belgium banned it and France and probably a host of other countries heading that way?

They've always had far right tendencies, I have never ever thought someone wearing a burka was threatening in anyway. I can't understand why anyone would unless they were paranoid.

A.Johnson I think Chef from South Park has already cornered the market with this one with Chef's magic love bag. I'm not that paranoid and tend not to believe all the bollox they tell you in the news. Because they are xenophobic ****s.

Lived in Belgium for 15 years. And as for far right tendencies, that's not strictly true. It's a divided country that's not really had a clear cut outright winning political party for ages... at the last election the massive winners were the green party so hardly right wing eh? Yes, their main party... or at least their party which has been in government for a longer period than the others has been a sort of Conservative party so I guess you're right there.

I can honestly say that I've never looked at someone in a burka and thought they were somewhat threatening and I used to walk along Edgware Road twice a day on my way to and from work. Just because another country has a law doesn't mean it's immune from being a load of shit.
Unit Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 The only problem I can see with a Burka is in the case of a car crash, if a driver was uninsured on somebody elses car surely they could quite easily switch positons. Apart from that relatively crap reason I don't understand all the stuff about them being threatening. However I met a girl the other day who had removed her burka after coming to Leicester to go to uni, poor girl was completely pale and said her family would go mental if they found out, they should get a choice rather than having it pushed on them from birth.
Nick Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 I wish we could ban 'stupid'. Yes, and maybe the small minded, indoctrinated, ignorant and prejudicial posters we could raise some cash for and educate though if met with any resistance, we could alternatively execute them publicly at the "Foxestalk Sacrificial Darwin Award Playoff Solstice Ceremony....." Please feel free to apply via CV for the role of "Executioner" and post / list your specialist skill sets below.
Zingari Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 if stupidity was banned ,there would be no need for a burka ban , or indeed any other silly religious ritualistic nonsense anyway , here's another silly bigoted bint with the audacity to have an opinion of her own http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-1195052/Why-I-British-Muslim-woman-want-burkha-banned-streets.html
