Belgium Vote On Banning The Burka

Not at all, I'll listen to all intelligent comment, academic or otherwise.

Which is why I don't read the Mail.

Yes it's hardly recognised as being a font of wisdom , but there does seem to be a ridiculous tendency to "shoot the

messenger" ( or at least ridicule the messenger ) whenever an article appears in this publication .

Personally I'm finding this attitude is becoming quite tiresome . Not just with regard to the Daily Mail , but many other issues that seem to be "off limits"

( Witness G Brown's attitude )

This "trick" seems to be used all too often to stifle debate recently .

but hey ho ;)

I'd agree with this.

I love how The Mail call that woman a Muslim just because she's from a Muslim background/country or whatever. She is obviously not.

That's like saying Fred West was a Christian.

Why I, as a British Muslim woman, want the burkha banned from our streets

The silly cow, you'd of she would have known that too.

She's one of them pretenders! Establishment links and full of shite. I certainly noticed a couple of lines she made up for effect.

You're surely not saying that all Muslims agree about everything?

Yes , she got "Brass in Pocket" and no longer needs to wear a fookin tent like she's back on the chain gang

Don;t get me wrong, i'm middle of the road . ( ok , that's enough pretenders songs )

:D

No, I know there are alot of different views between Muslims, but I would say that she isn't one. She is from a Muslim background though. Surely to be a Muslim you have to believe in and follow the Koran and I bet that she doesn't.

I do agree with what she says about not having to cover your face in Islam cos I have read the Koran (probably more times than she has) and it doesn't say that women have to cover their face

Not one Muslim woman I know wears one of them tents!

Does this mean that women who do cover their faces are not really muslims but "pretenders" , who are having a good old giggle at us behind the veil ? :)

Nah I reckon most of them must be Muslims! I don't know why they wear them though or where/when it started but I don't think it started in Muhammads time so it was probably a cultural thing.

Thief in Burka gets off as victim fails to identify her.

A female thief known as Fatima the Thief, who is apparently responsible for hundreds of robberies in the North of England, seems to keep getting away with her crimes because she wears a Burka. She allegedly attacked a 92 year old man in Newcastle and stole his mint humbugs.

The victim of the crime, Tom Smeaton, went to a Police Identity Parade to try and pick out the thief but all he saw was a group of women wearing Burkas.

"I would not have believed it if I had not seen it with my own eyes "said Tom, "All I can see is staring eyes,so I don't see the point of this Identity parade".

Poor old Tom left after failing to identify the thief and headed to the nearest sweet shop for some humbugs.

Genuine question about Burkas. I did an exam today at DMU and the girl next to me had a Burka on. One of the requirements of the exam was that you had your student I.D card on your desk, hers was a picture of her in a Burka, is this fair? Like what's to stop her mum/sister/mate sitting an exam for her?

I know it might seem a bit stupid but I just thought I'd ask.

I wanted to give the subject a little twist.

Burqa, burqa, burqa.

Next thing I want to see is a ban of Crocs

tolerated for too long, they're a massive danger to the immediate eye and environment.

And they hurt my religious feelings.

Or her sitting listening to all the answers on an iPod.

Do we make all lads who have long hair wear it in a bun so it can't be used to cover up tell-tail wires?

That seems like an awful lot of effort if you didn't already have the answers.

Happens though.

I couldn't have been arsed with that. :D

Studying would be much easier.

EDIT: unless you are doing maths/ science etc :dunno:

Sleeves rolled up, no hankies, rulers, rubbers, erasers or kit of any kind. I'm sure calculators can be had with a 'notes' facility'.

Exams must be easy nowadays if people can use an ipod to help them. How would you know what kind of questions were going to come up? Are the subject ranges extremely narrow?

I would have thought that you would need an encyclopedias worth of info on your ipod to have a chance, and then it would be pretty hard to find the parts you wanted just from flicking through the mp3 or whatever it is.

for whatever reason , it seems the main point of your question has been missed , and some seem to think that you meant that all sorts of devices could be hidden under the burka to allow the candidate to cheat .

it seemed a clear enough point to me

Not neccesarily, during my degree the most valuable item was the periodic table, if I could have taken one of those in, I may have got a first!!!

I could never understand stuff like that, surely it's not a test on whether you can remember the bloody thing but how to use it.

Anyway back on subject........While we're about it, lets ban crash helmets for the same reasoning. angry.gif

good idea ,

however , i doubt if there would be much opposition to banning crash helmets ( or any other non religious face covering )from places such as banks , post offices , schools etc ;)

Yes but on the other hand, if I wanted to wear a crash helmet in school because my Mam thought I'd be safe, who are they to object? Well I would because I couldn't see my face.
