Both are problems and neither excuses the other.

What is painfully is that it's the guys in the middle who work hard who get squeezed.

Very true. I have always said that.

The note left for Stockport fans who were apparently in need of a 'good wash' and a change of clothes

Sometimes at work I have the unpleasant job of telling someone that they stink, I always blame the clothes.

I don't enjoy it, it's awkward as anything!

Is that part of your job description? What do you do?

Not directly but it's a case of keeping the place hygienic for other users. I only talk to them if we get complaints from other users though and it's particularly bad.

I take them to one side, and say pretty much what that note says but in a nicer way...

I say that it's probably not them themselves, just their clothes and they probably need a change.

It's difficult because no matter what you say, the individual is always going to feel embarrassed/awkward. Thankfully, so far nobody has kicked off about it.

You still didn't answer my question particularly, are you a politician?  :P

lol, I'm far from being a politician! I work in a gym.

My job description does not state that I have to "tell smelly members to have a wash" it says that I and all of the staff keep the place clean, tidy and hygienic.

Talking to smelly members is one tiny, and thankfully very rare part of what we do.
