artursteppe Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 I couldn't be at the Cov game ( in Poland for a wedding ), but I get the feeling Matty wasn't very good. Nigel Clough says he is interested in him. Sousa will know that - is Matty wanting to go, or worried Sousa wants him yo go, either of which could affect his game. Steve Howard seems to be fed up that his contract is taking longer than it should to sort out. Whatever is going on, there is no doubt in my mind Paulo is looking at other options. OR wait a minute some people seem to want to sack Sousa already, before he has even had a chance to fully evaluate his team and see if there are better players he could be using. ( Madness ). It would be of better analytical sense if people actually understood that Swansea started off badly last year, when Sousa had only just joined them.
Madrid_Fox Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 I feel a little annoyed we didnt make a move for James Vaughn in the loan window. I rated him quite highly. He also has quite a lot of pace, which is something I sometimes think we lack a little upfront.

He also has quite a lot of pace, which is something I sometimes think we lack a little upfront. here here, I said last year he is a must for this year! He enjoyed himself here too! He showed real signs that he can tear this league apart! and in this team with this new style he would be a big hitter. We need a Jay Bothroyd or a Michael Chopra, someone clinical at this level!
Wymsey Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 This Crcnic guy we got, is he one for the future. I'm baffled by him.
STUHILL Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 I think we need to LOAN a striker from somewhere, perhaps the Prem. A striker with raw pace hopefully, someone to give the defence something to worry about. Vaughan would have been perfect! I think Howard and Fryatt are capable, but they aren't going to set the Championship a light. We need as someone said a Bothroyd or a Chopra. Much easier said than done but I really think the rest of our team is up there with the best in the league, we just need a very capable striker, alongside Waggy. Hopefully, Fryatt will suddenly discover some blistering form or Howard might play like he did against Cardiff more often, buttttttt that's looking unlikely so far! DNG is an option I would try at some point. I don't rate him much as a winger but striker could work for him, big, powerful and fast! Has all the attributes to cause problems if he can finish well too. We know he is handy in the air. I have no idea what the signing of Crnic guy was. He must have been dirt cheap wages and got some raw talent that is worth waiting on, who knows!!
hackneyfox Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 DNG as a striker? If he had a brain we'd have won on Saturday. We have Waghorn and that is it. Fryatt is sulking and I think should leave Howard is good for 20 minutes every 4th game. We need 2 strikers on loan and quickly.
MrSpaM Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 Heard on the grapevine Torres isnt very happy at Liverpool

Paulo must be looking and maybe even negotiating - or Howard would have his contract by now and Matty wouldn't have his head up his a*se!
dandannieldanok Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 We need a predator in front of goal, Fryatt, Howard and Waghorn are all good forwards but none of them are what you would call clinical strikers. Obviously last season we got to the play-offs with those 3 doing most of the work upfront, but I definitely think we need another option up there, a slightly different type of forward.
OutFoxing-Cov-Since1884 Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 Crazy shout everyone and possibly I am only dreaming because of what Cardiff strummed up with Bellamy, but how about this as an option? Paulo rings one of his friends in continental management and someone who has heavy links with Leicester, Roberto. He says, I'd like Santa Cruz on loan, as I like the idea of a big man but one with pace, an ability to head a ball and also has some nice skills. As obseen as it may sound, I think Roque Santa Cruz could do a job here! (and I don't think he is in their 25 either?)
karl rudham Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 I totally agree that we need to add some real quality up front to take us to the next level. Waghorn was a wonderful aquisition and will bag his fair share of goals this season and beyond. As for loan signings Vaughan would have been a perfect addition but it's not to be, so why not look at Nathan Delfanosou (Villa), Eccleston (Liverpool), Jake Jervis (Birmingham), David Healy (Sunderland). Whatever happened to the link with Barcelona's wonder kid Rochina. Outside the Premiership I have heard great things about Luton's Matthew Barnes-Homer. Also to add further quality across the park I would love Michael Kightly on loan from Wolves who is available once fully fit and has already stated he wants to go out on loan to the Championship.
Madrid_Fox Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 So you want a striker with power and pace? One thats available? Good news because I have found one. Benni McCarthy
FoxyPV Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 So you want a striker that's about four stone overweight? Good news because I have found one. Benni McCarthy
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 Heard on the grapevine Torres isnt very happy at Liverpool We should get Kasabian to have a word with him!

Adster Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 totally agree. if we want to be half as successful as last year, we need a player upfront that can blaze defences apart with strength + pace. waghorn is a good acquisition, but we need more than one.
CKB Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 Frank Nouble? we have been linked with him and he's got plenty of power and pace.. He's raw, he could be a Heskey type player who won't score loads but will set up goals or he could surprise us..
carterfox90 Posted 14 September 2010 Posted 14 September 2010 how about DJ from blackpool has pace

Mack Posted 14 September 2010 Posted 14 September 2010 I would suggest our problem is as much quality supply to the forwards as their finishing form. Dyer has been electric so far, but even his supply has been less than perfect.
Ric Flair Posted 14 September 2010 Posted 14 September 2010 We do need a striker with pace. it looks like Crncic is a player who isn't going to come in to the reckoning until much later on, which only leaves Waghorn, Fryatt and Howard. Gallagher just doesn't seem to have staked a claim as a striker and he's not got the pace we are missing either. I am struggling to think of players who would be available right now. Nouble from West Ham is one, but there's the concern that he's actually a fairly poor finisher and that is something else we are lacking. A clinical striker, but admittedly how many of them become available, especially during the close of the transfer window. We missed a trick by not going back in for James Vaughan, he fits the bill completely bar the fact his knees are made of glass. What's Jason Roberts up to these days? Would Wigan let Victor Moses come on loan? Or maybe go back in for Leroy Lita at Boro? A bit desperate I know, but he's the sort of player we need. A bit of a coont like DJ was but might want to play for us more than that helmet did.
Ric Flair Posted 14 September 2010 Posted 14 September 2010 We love a trial under Sousa, what's the bettings he turns up here? http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_6374876,00.html

Vaughan would have been a good shout and scored a hat-trick tonight but yes he's injury prone Jason Roberts - Would do a job no doubt but just not sure on the blokes attitude Lita - No thanks the guy is all about money Victor Moses - Yes please, is he starting much for Wigan?
Mickey O'Neil Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 I still think someone like Simon Cox would do some damage in this division, especially with the type of football we are currently playing under Paulo. I know he wouldn't be too popular at first, but all would be soon forgiven when he starts knocking them in!
