Dickie Greenleaf Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/holland/8041367/Manchester-City-midfielder-Nigel-De-Jong-dropped-by-Holland-for-tackle-on-Ben-Arfa.html Wonder if the FA will rummage around, see if they've got a pair, and show some sort of decent leadership now.
StanSP Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Yet Van Bommel is still in the squad. WOnder if there's any connection with that and being the son in law of the manager There's been worse tackles by the same/many other players, so to say he's been dropped because of the tackle on Ben Arfa is just silly. I'm not condoning the tackle, but over the years, De Jong's tackle at the weekend didn't look that malicious, maybe just a little late. If he was dropped for the karate kick on Alonso, then I'd be in more of an agreement.
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 4 October 2010 Author Posted 4 October 2010 Think its a case of the straw that broke the camel's back. "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by FA Premier League. " - Funny how you never get that message for great goals scored in the premier league.
dandannieldanok Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Hypocritical to drop one player because of a poor tackle when all the Dutch players were at it in the world cup, under the instruction of van Marwijk and de Boer.
Father Ted Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Is this a wind-up? It was a good, hard but fair tackle imo. So De Jong is dropped but they continue to play Van Bommel who only fouls players, then intimidates the Ref and doesn't get a booking. Unbelievable amounts of hypocrisy!
Narborough_fox Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 I thought it was a great tackle, hard but fair.
Bert Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Seems it's been done because it's the second time in five months he's broke someone's leg.
Unabomber Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Looks to me that van Marwijk had Ben Arfa FGS on Sunday.
Koke Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Is this a wind-up? It was a good, hard but fair tackle imo. Think it was the straw that broke the camel's back. De Jong broke Stuart Holden's leg in March this year. And he kung-fu kicked Xabi Alonso in the chest in the WC final. And now he has broken Hatem Ben Arfa's leg. Van Bommel might be a cunt, but as far as I know I don't think he has broken anyone's leg or kicked anyone in the chest.
Alexikokopops Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 It's ok guys. If we just say "he's not that kind of player" we can just brush it under the carpet as though it never happened
StanSP Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 It's ok guys. If we just say "he's not that kind of player" we can just brush it under the carpet as though it never happened what i was thinking earlier. 'De Jong isn't a malicious player'. Oh okay. Everything is fine now. <_<
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 5 October 2010 Author Posted 5 October 2010 It wasnt "hard, but fair", it was completely reckless. http://rutube.ru/tracks/3642259.html?v=b4e95ac62dddc91ccdc01ce54e20e671&autoStart=true&bmstart=0 There is absolutely no need for his trailing leg to be doing that. He's deliberately gone to scissor him, hiding behind the 'got the ball' excuse.
Corky Posted 5 October 2010 Posted 5 October 2010 It's ok guys. If we just say "he's not that kind of player" we can just brush it under the carpet as though it never happened If you take the side of his game away he won't be the same player. I like that line too.
Jaspa Posted 7 October 2010 Posted 7 October 2010 It wasnt "hard, but fair", it was completely reckless. http://rutube.ru/tracks/3642259.html?v=b4e95ac62dddc91ccdc01ce54e20e671&autoStart=true&bmstart=0 There is absolutely no need for his trailing leg to be doing that. He's deliberately gone to scissor him, hiding behind the 'got the ball' excuse. That Vids 'Ролик удален' apparently. On the matter though this was posted on BBC earlier Link Does anyone else think that these tackles are supposed to be career breakers just for the benifit of others?
