Curtis Davies admits his career ground to a halt at Aston Villa during Martin O'Neill's reign.

The defender moved to Villa Park in 2007, making the short journey across the West Midlands from West Brom.

He initially settled well and was regularly touted as a potential England international of the future.

However, things started to unravel last season, with a shoulder operation not helping his cause, and he soon found himself out of favour.

He has gone 14 long months since he last appeared in a Premier League fixture, with former Villa boss O'Neill having overlooked him at every opportunity.

Davies has recently linked up with Championship side Leicester on loan in an effort to get regular games and is enjoying his football again.

He does, however, admit that he is almost starting from scratch after becoming the forgotten man at Villa Park.

if he feels like this maybe there is a possibility in getting him on a perm contract

maybe, but if it was o'neill that froze him out, maybe houllier wants to see how he gets on playing FTF before deciding whether to give him a second chance.

On a side note: is he registered in villas 25?

He's just the player we need. I'd like to see Top get some of his wonga out and get him in on a permanent contract. Wave a couple of £Million under the nose of the Villa chairman and I'd think we'd bag him.

They only named 22 at the start of the season, and Davies wasnt on the list

well he can't do anything there till january then, Good chance of keeping him longer than a month if he enjoys himself over the next month.

He'd pay for himself - I'd be suprised if we don't start filling the ground every week with a defence as sexy as ours.

Five way? Yes please...

Once that back four gels, it'll be nigh on impenetrable.

Davies was immense on Saturday and I expect a lot of him.

just been on the villa forum to see what they said about davies and they seem to think we will have him until jan and then a prem team will come in for him. the reason he is not got games for them aswell is because if he plays another leage game a clause in his contract kicks in that they have to either up his wages or offer him a new contract. they also said even when all there cb were out injured he still didnt get in because of the contract situation they played people out of position over him. i think fair play to the lad for hateing villa and MON he just wants football

Sounds very positive.

I think that Villa signed him from bagies for about £10mil, not too sure and i cant be arsed to check as i have "party poker" on another tab.

if we get hime for £3mil i would be happy.

Smashed in this league before and when fit, played well for villa.

I didnt get to go to Saturdays game (stupid undian weddings all the time!!!) but heard good reviews.

if we are doing well by January, then maybe he will be willing to make the switch. who knows, not me
